4 out of 5 eggsgood cooler

Pros: Low profile and quiet. Put this on a i3 3140t and have had it running almost 24/7. I have not had any problems

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I replaced the thermal paste that came with the cooler. Probably not necessary. But just to be on the safe side I did it anyway.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap Fan, with a Cheap Mounting System

Pros: Very slim, and able to fit in a tight Mini-ITX case. Functions well enough, and that's about it.

Cons: So, who here likes the Intel stock fan mounting system? No one? That's what I thought. Of course, you can see in this in the pictures, however it's actually even worse than the Intel stock fan mounting system, which is probably an achievement in and of itself. On an Intel stock fan, the mounting twist-ins can't rotate, because you have to twist them in obviously, and has an outer plastic shell to stop them from rotating. Rosewill did away with this. So you have to find the correct orientation for the twist-ins, hold them at the base and apply counter force while twisting them in. WHY? Why is this so complicated? Screws, please? What's wrong with screws? There's plenty of slim fans with a mounting system using mythological screws, and you should buy one of those, instead of regretting buying this one, like I am.

Other Thoughts: The standard for CPU coolers should be to have a better mounting system than Intel's stock fans, but I'll settle for just as good, not worse.

4 out of 5 eggsFan for a Rosewill fan

Pros: Low profile, quiet, pretty, thermal compound pre-applied

Cons: Quality control, not very efficient

Other Thoughts: I must say I'm a HUGE fan of Rosewill. It's a company that just "gets it" and designs excellent products that make a lot of sense in real-life applications while not forcing you to break the bank, so I didn't think twice ordering this fan for my latest small form factor build. It is a bit smaller than I expected, and came with thermal compound pre-applied, like Intel stock fans, which was a nice surprise.

However, despite coming protected in a plastic tray, similar to those of Intel fans, it had one of the plastic pins that go into the motherboard, bent at a 45 degree angle. I didn't want to bother with returns and forcefully bent it back, hoping that it holds, which it seems to, so far.

I get 48-50C with i3-4130, breadboarding with NO load, no drives and no case, which I guess I can live with, but foresee possible issues under load in Apex MI-008 case.

Overall, I am still happy, the fan looks really nice and is about the only one reasonably priced to fit in my case, so I can live with small imperfections, but exercise caution if your CPU is anything in the "i" family, as those reporting 30c must be using Celeron or similar.

5 out of 5 eggsFabulous fan after all

Pros: Fantastically quiet when running (ie you cannot hear the low RPM setting even when you press your ear to the case), low, low profile. Much better than the intel stock coolers for Haswell processors. Easy 20 degC temperature drop under heavy load, nicely effective.

Cons: None, really. Received one defective unit, but Rosewill exchanged at no cost -Thank you!

Other Thoughts: I received one defective unit that frustrated me to no end (there's a one-star review below). Rosewill support contacted me and was very supportive - they sent me a replacement at no cost, but I was running on a deadline with the build in question (Christmas present) and so was forced to go with the intel stock cooler. I recently was able to use the replacement fan in a similar build, and was blown away by how quiet and effective the fan is, and how easily it mounts for non-defective units.

Note for assembly: just push the pins in, no twisting.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't be happier

Pros: Low profile, goes down to around 550 RPM, **extremely** quiet at low RPMs, fan has a nice sound profile, pre-applied thermal paste, wires for the fan are in a nice black sheath.

Cons: None. Well, if I have to list something, a couple of the fins were bent, but they are pretty easy to bend and I can't say for sure that I didn't bend them myself. Also I prefer heatsinks that screw in, instead of the plastic push-post kind, but I don't think that's reasonable to expect at this super low price point.

Other Thoughts: This is a great fan if you think you can probably get away with passive cooling but you want a fan "just in case."

I have a Celeron G1820 (55W TDP Haswell) in my HTPC which can almost run passive, so the 1000+ RPM stock Intel cooler was way overkill, plus it made an annoying ticking sound. This Rosewill fan will go down to ~550 RPM and that's enough to keep my CPU at ~55C with one core under full load. I'm very, very pleased. There's no reason to run passive with a fan this quiet. I tried turning the fan up to 1800 RPM and the sound profile is a pleasant whoosh. Not that I will ever need to hear it.

4 out of 5 eggsSmaller than I thought

Pros: Keeps my cheap Haswell 35W cpu just above room temp at idle on the test bench(will not stress due to 80w PSU)
4pin PWM allows me to set custom fan profile in BIOS.

Cons: Worried about sleeve bearing giving out suddenly.
Fan motor is right above the copper core, never had good experience with that mounting in the past.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for the Antex 110 mini ITX case, and ASRock Z97E-ITX/ac. This fits with room to spare. As this is also the ONLY fan in that case, I may create a duct to pull in outside air. Or dremel a 60/70mm fan, attach to case and blow into heat sink when the cover is on. Check my Antec review for any possible mods I may have made.

5 out of 5 eggsBe Careful Before You Buy

Pros: I bought this to replace the stock cooler on my 4670K, but it wouldn't work so I checked out the specs. This has a max TDP of 65 Watts. If your CPU uses more than that, this cooler is not adequate. Of course this wasn't a problem and I just used it to cool a i3 4130 in my HTPC. Its very quiet and at low fan settings, it isn't even audible. Its a great CPU cooler, but only for some processors. Of course that was my mistake for not checking out the specifications and I won't take an egg off for that. I only reviewed this so other people don't make the same mistake that I did.

Cons: None other than installation was a bit annoying as the pins to clip it to the motherboard kept moving around and you had to keep adjusting them.

Other Thoughts: Corsair C70
i5 4670K
EVGA GTX 780
Samsung 840 Evo 250gb SSD
2Tb Western Digital Black
Asus Maximus VI Formula

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: I bought this to replace the stock Intel cooler that came with the i3-4330 due to noise and very poor performance. I am using this processor in a mATX build for my girlfriend and just wanted something that would maintain decent temperatures while being quiet.

The stock Intel cooler for the i3 I bought idle'd around 45-50c and it would hit 79c under Prime95, which is absolutely ridiculous considering it's not overclocked and has a 54w TDP. This Rosewill cooler was inexpensive, looks good, and has a copper core, so I was expecting the temperatures to be adequate to my needs (keeping this CPU from from doubling as a skillet).

Cons: I was very excited for this cooler until I started to run some tests. It idles around 42-43c with 25c ambient temps and, under Prime95, got up to 69c. This is still unacceptable to me because even those temperatures can shorten the life of a CPU and I expect my girlfriend to be topping this CPU out since she uses Adobe's Creative Suite a lot. The case I am using is a Cooler Master Elite 120 with three fans hooked up; one 120mm Gelid intake fan and two Silenx 80mm outtake fans, which all perform fantastically and provide the case with plenty of airflow considering everything else is very low powdered, so I do not believe airflow is a problem.

Other Thoughts: My own desktop has an i5-2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz. Water cooled with an Corsair H100i, it remains around 32-35c idle and doesn't go past 62c under full load. I use Gelid's GC-Extreme thermal paste, which is some of the best TIM you can get at the moment. Needless to say, I would like to think I am familiar with good cooling on desktop computers and, unfortunately, this cooler is just not up to par. Sure, it's much quieter than the stock Intel heat sink and if that's all that matters to you then you came to the right place, but, to me, that doesn't matter much when it barely performs better than the cooler I replaced it with.
