  • Memory
ICON Loading...

Sometimes a heat spreader just isn't enough. That's when you need the XTC from OCZ. The gleaming chrome housing holds two 60mm fans that dramatically cool your memory modules. The reduced memory temperatures increase overclocking performance.

The cooler clamps on to the DIMM socket retention levers for easy attachment, getting you back up and running quickly. You can use it with both DDR and DDR2 modules, so you can use it now and on future systems. The blue fan LEDs keep everything attractively lit.

  • newegg XTC Heatspreader Technology OCZ's proprietary XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreader technology enhances airflow via micro-convection throughout the dead air space inside heatspreaders for optimized thermal management of memory modules. The honeycomb design ensures more efficient heat dissipation for reliable mechanical stability.
  • newegg Blue LED Fans Two 60mm low-noise fans deliver superior cooling performance and provide brilliant illumination during operation with embedded blue LEDs for eye-catching fun.

4 out of 5 eggsvery nice

Pros: Looks great! Chrome finish with bright blue LED's. I bought it for the looks and to compliment my setup.

Cons: It fits.....just not well. As others have stated, I would not attempt to move my rig with this on my memory. It is a universal fitting add-on for most memory. Minus 1 egg for it not firtting "snug".

4 out of 5 eggsworks well

Pros: I bought this from newegg about 2 years ago and never used it. Until now, it doesn't say its compatible with DDR3 but it covers all 6 slots on my x58 mobo. It locks between the first 4 channels but the fans go over all 6 slots. Works perfect.

Cons: the blue LED, it shouldn't come with LED's on the fans and there too bright, maybe just one letting you know that its on or not would be sufficient.

Other Thoughts: i snapped the led circuits off each fan, so thers no lights because the rest of my case is red and the blue made it look bad.

2 out of 5 eggsGood, but only if u have space

Pros: Does keep ram very cool, the blue LEDs fit well with my Diable Advance tower and the aluminum gave t a sleek look

Cons: be very wary of space in your tower, if the fans get to close to other objects the can complete a ground circuit, than i do not recommend it, they were close to my USB ports in the back, and if i touched the usbs to switch out usb devices, it would send an arc of electricity through my tower, and a very visible one at that. so far it doesnt seem to have caused any damage, but it did cause my CPU to turn off which is the CPUs safety mechanism. it also seems that it would short out ur GPU, so if u can give the fans good room for them to be by themselves, than these would be a great buy, otherwise i do not recommend just for safety

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we recommend that customers are careful to insure that no components are made contact with when installing this cooler. Some sort of insulation, such as good quality electrical tape or silicone glue can help in tight spaces where contact could be made.
Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsgood at first

Pros: shiny. Quiet at first. mounting system is fairly stable, better then most system's spring setup. Was free with ram!

Cons: Fans slowly got more and more noisy. Bought it in oct of 08 and as of may of 09 the noise is unbearable. No switch for the LeD's. All metal design means you need to protect your video card. I think the honey comb on top limits the airflow. The fact that there are only 2 screws holding the fans might be what causes the fans to go out so soon. There is a Version 2 out now that has an open top and 4 screws on each fan.

Other Thoughts: Ocz needs to step up their game when it comes to fans on their products Or Newegg just needs to stock more Arctic Cooling products.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem. Please visit the link below and create support ticket to start ten RMA process for a replacement cooler.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsCool memory fan at a great price.

Pros: Cooler is quite the eye catcher that fits neatly over the memory on the motherboard. It’s fully chromed with dual fans, using two adjustable brackets that clamp right over the memory hold-down brackets. It comes with two different style mounting brackets. One set has a molded notch that fits the space between the memory hold-downs’ keeping the brackets centered; the other set doesn’t and allows for more adjusting. Both fans have blue LEDs that are pleasing and not as bright as everyone comments them to be, considering the other blue LED fans that came with my case are much brighter. Face it, if you own a case with a window, plenty of vented openings, and then add a chromed out cooler, you’re looking to showcase what you got.

Cons: This cooler can be a tight fit in some cases. I’m using an Intel DX50SO Motherboard inside a Thermaltake Armor+ case. The removable motherboard tray uses angled braces on both sides for support. The DDR3 memory slots are located by one of these two braces and the cooler wouldn’t fit between the brace and the CPU cooler. I had to unscrew both fans in the cooler to move the power wire from one side of the unit to the other in order to turn the unit around to plug into the board and mount the unit. Now, the angled corner on the cooler, which I’m sure was just part of the units’ design, was useful as it now fits by the tray brace. Also, the OCZ logo is not upside down as it would have originally been, when looking through the side window and it doesn’t push against the stock Intel i7 CPU cooler.

Other Thoughts: There are other coolers out there that seem to cost more and have obviously different designs/features. Knowing what I know now, and looking at the designs of the other units, I doubt they would have worked for my setup. If you’re looking to keep your memory cool, dress up the motherboard, and not pay much for it, this cooler is the way to go.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: The product works and preforms as advertised. Virtually any memory is compatible ddr3, ddr2, and ddr1 are all supported. Installation is as easy as it seems. IMO the blue leds look much better than most led coolers out there. Completely Silent.

Cons: There should of been an option to turn off the leds regardless of how good they look. Software support would of been nice, but for $20 you get what you payed for.

Other Thoughts: I am cooling 6x2gb modules of ddr3 XTC gold. the difference in temps is amazing and there was a noticeable difference in performance

1 out of 5 eggsFlimsy fans; recipe for disaster

Pros: Cools the memory, while it works.

Cons: Fits only memory without heat spreaders.
Fans are low quality and rattle and eventually stop pretty soon (in my case, a month); at this point your memory will overheat and fail, too (happened to me; had to RMA some memory as a result).
Bulky; may touch other parts, short and burn them.

Other Thoughts: RMA is available, but will it have any better fans? Better buy another model, than have it RMA'd and fail again. I replaced the fans with the others, purchased separately (double ball bearing), but it is hardly a solution to frankly recommend. In retrospect, stay away from this one.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello we are sorry that you had fan problems. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket at the link below to start an RMA for a replacement. Memory with high heatspreader may have issues. Memory with a standard heatspreader will work just fine
Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsLame

Pros: Cools the ram very well
Blue LED's are a plus but they are bright.

Cons: Not meant for traveling around. When I've taken my pc to a lan and traveled on the road with my pc it knocks the fans out of alignment. This causes a very loud buzzing noise and I've bought a second one since I could not fix the buzzing noise. Second fan is now buzzing again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, this product was not intended for portable systems. It can be used in a LAN rig, but whenever transporting a rig, one should check all components for movement before firing it up. We are sorry for the problems you have had. We would be happy to replace your fans under the 1 year warranty. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to start the process.
Thank you
