From the heat pipes to the fins to the fan, everything here is designed to deliver the best cooling. Thick heat pipes with HDC technology, widely spaced aluminum fins and a PWM fan work side by side to dissipate heat efficiently. However, cooling is only part of the story. The SilverStone Argon Series AR02 also operates silently thanks to the fan’s anti-vibration rubber mounting. Argon series AR01 and AR03 are also available.

Heat-pipe direct contact (HDC) technology
The three thick 6mm heat pipes with heat-pipe direct contact (HDC) technology connect directly to your CPU when installed for extremely efficient first-level heat conduction. Transfer more heat from your CPU for maximum computing performance.

Widely spaced aluminum fins
The three 6mm heat pipes pass through aluminum fins in a U-shape for maximum heat transfer from the heat pipes. The aluminum fins are widely spaced for unobstructed air circulation while the surface is T-shaped for better heat conduction.
Forced-air heat dissipation
The SilverStone Argon Series AR02 comes with a compact 92mm PWM fan for smart cooling. Cool aggressively at full loads and silently at low loads.
Anti-vibration rubber mounting
The fan's anti-vibration rubber mounting comes built not only for stable rotating but also for silent computing.
Universal compatibility
The SilverStone Argon Series AR02 is compatible with Intel Socket LGA775/115X/1366/2011 and AMD Socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2. Enjoy a system upgrade without the hassle of purchasing an extra CPU cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsThe perfect cure for a noisy stock cooler

Pros: My FX8350 CPU had a stock cooler that was just darned noisy when gaming. The Silverstone Argon AR02 was a great upgrade. It was very easy to install, it was compact enough to fit with room to spare inside my mid-tower case, it significantly reduced my CPU temps both at idle and under load, and it's much quieter than my stock CPU heat sink/fan.

Cons: No cons to speak of. When I saw how much room I still had left in my case after installing my AR02 cooler, I wished I'd ordered a 120mm combo. The AR02 has really been terrific however, so I don't know that "it didn't use up all of the case space that I had to spare" is really legitimate criticism.

Other Thoughts: This is a well-designed and easy-to-install cooling solution that is working very well for me on a very demanding CPU. It does all of this for a very reasonable price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Great mounting options and extremely solid mounting system. I used this cooler with PK2 thermal paste and it keeps an FX-6300 below 46C with 100% fan speed at stock speed. Prime95 will run it up to 48-50 but I never see that in real use video encoding or gaming its generally 43-44C with a fan target or 6 out of 9 at a temperature target of 50C on an Asrock extrem4 970 AM3+.

Cons: Fan can be noisy if you turn it up past 60 or 70%. I don't think it ever goes over probably 40-50% and keeps temps under 50C when set to temperature scale correctly.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, Easy install, comes with thermal paste

Pros: I have a A-10 6800K (OC to 4.45) used to run 69'C with stock cooler, now it never sees over 50 (usually plays Dayz at 45'C)

-Not too large, fits good in my case

- one of the cheaper heat sneaks out I could find

-Comes with its own thermal paste, and it does its job well

-The fan it comes with is decently quiet (one of the quietest fans I have)

-it comes with all the mounting hardware that you need

Cons: The fan should have been a fan that can push more air, but its not too bad

Other Thoughts: I don't like how the heat pipes are spaced on the bottom, because the CPU chip is only 1/4 of the size of the cover and sits in the middle. SO I would rather have all 3 heat pipes close to the middle. but it still does a great job

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value HSU & FAN

Pros: *Medium Sized
*Quiet & Efficient
*Sturdy and perfect fit for FM2 sockets
*Great Value!
*Comes with everything you need for Intel/AMD MB's

Cons: *Rubber Mounts

Other Thoughts: Rubber mounts are usually not favored because of sections of the heat sink being used to accommodate the mounts but in this case it's not really a problem at all just the fact that their what needs to be used. As for the color con mostly because the color doesn't really match with a lot of the parts of a rig I would of just preferred black or even white now I have a baby blue in the middle haha

2 out of 5 eggsOK item, Silverstone Argon AR02 Cooler

Pros: Works if installed correctly, fits in case, fit in area on mobo without interfering with other components, looks nice.

Cons: I am fairly adept at putting together kits, assembling computers out of the required parts and fixing things, but when presented with a new device, it is helpful to have a guide designed for newbies. For the Sliverstone AR02 heat pipe cooler, there is not a scintila of guidance on how much to tighten the two bolts that fix it on the the cpu, i. e., LOUSY DOCUMENTATION!

There is an internet video that glosses over this point. The documentation is critical, because the cooler can be very easily tilted relative to the cpu heat spreader by over or under tightening the the bolts which secure the cooler onto the cpu. Making sure it is mounted so the heat sink surface is absolutely parallel to the cpu is a touchy adjustment and if not correct, the cpu WILL OVERHEAT. Mine did when I first mounted it! I was ready to send it back to Newegg, but I figured I'd try removing the cooler, reapply the heat transfer compound and then tighten it very carefully, trying to tighten the bolts on each side as equally as possible. I was largely successful. The result was an acceptable level of cooling and so I kept the cooler...

Other Thoughts: Nice device + lousy documentation = Poor customer satisfaction.

I will think twice before buying another Silverstone product, since I presume this one is a typical example of the company's concern for their customers.

You can build a super product, but if your customers cannot figure out how to apply or use it, you might just as well not even offer it for sale. A customer is impressed in a good or bad way by the performance of the first product he buys. He wil not try another if he is displeased by the first.

After all the definiton of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value Cooler - Low Height Fits Smaller Cases

Pros: I own my own Computer Business and do a lot of custom builds. This heatsink is great for fitting into tight spaces. Doesn't interfere with most RAM slots also has a nice height that fits smaller cases that the larger heatsinks such as the Cooler Master EVO will not fit. Does a nice job of cooling, a bit warmer than the EVO but not by much. It does a LOT better than any stock cooler.

I use high end thermal paste with all coolers and heatsinks. Either TX-4, IC Diamond or Phobya HeGrease. Phobya is my favorite. I wish newegg would get it. It really is a great product. They don't have IC Diamond either. Their loss. Both are great. Quality thermal paste is a must. You don't notice it as much at idle temps, but you get a big difference at higher temps while under full load for prolonged times.

Cons: It's not free.

Other Thoughts: You will not regret getting this heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: +Awesome mounting system.
+Easy to install.
+Not too thick, so it fit with my ram with a few mm to spare.
+Good cooling.

Cons: -Instructions are terrible. (They do have have very good video on their site though)

Other Thoughts: This is the first aftermarket cooler I've ever used. That being said, if you can't tell from the plus area of this review, I love this thing. It has a nice heavy duty mounting system and is the perfect size for my set up. With stock cooler running BF4 would send the CPU up to around 60 degrees. Since I put this in, I've never seen the temps go above 31 degrees running BF4 or even FC3. I DID NOT use the thermal compound that came with this cooler. I used Arctic Silver and I have to give some credit for the low temps to that. Arctic Silver even helped my stock cooler about 10 degrees. I got this with a discount, and I honestly don't think I could have gotten a better cooler for the money. Specs are below if you want to see what I had absolutely no problem putting this cooler into.

CPU: A10-5800K
RAM: Corsair MX3 ram in both slots
GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7790
Case: Cougar Archon Mid tower

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler!

Pros: Installed this cooler on my i5-4570. Temps are around 37 C at idle and 57 C at load while gaming (using with Arctic Cooling MX-4). Fits nicely and runs quietly in my Fractual Design Core 1000 case. Build quality is solid with a nice flat attention to the cpu mounting side of the radiator (no major gaps or offset pipes as I have seen with other heat direct coolers). I really like the post mounting system (easy to construct and applies plenty of hold strength). Clears first RAM slot with standard height RAM and doesn't interfere with PCI-E slot (I'm using a Gigabyte B85M-D2V motherboard). Definitely a great cooler for the price.

Cons: The brace mounting bracket underneath the motherboard took a little playing with to get the holes lined up correctly but wasn't really a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure why all the confusion about the manual. It has pictures with step by step instructions. Silverstone even put an installation video on their website.

3 out of 5 eggsLOUD!

Pros: Cools, sexy looking, easy install IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

Cons: LOUD! It's so loud that I've been forced to replace the stock fan.
The manual is junk!

Other Thoughts: Overall I like it, does the job, but not for a HTPC build, unless you wanna buy new fans!
