5 out of 5 eggsVery Efficient Cooler

Pros: Amazingly efficient cooler. My dual Xeon E5-2630 V3 CPUs idle at 25°C and top out at around 38°C running Prime95.
Installation was the most complex of any cooler I've owned, but well thought out design made it as simple as possible. The kit comes with normal and narrow ILM socket mounting hardware. It was necessary to change out the hardware, as the motherboard I used requires narrow ILM coolers.
The fans are inaudible from my sitting position (with the tower case under the desk). The CPUs run cool, the heat sinks feel cool to the touch and only became slightly warmer than ambient after running Prime95. Very impressive cooling and I think the price is reasonable when engineering and high quality of materials is considered, not to mention the unprecedented warranty period.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Many people apply thermal paste by just putting a dot in the center of the CPU heat spreader. I take the time to spread a thin layer over the entire spreader and smooth it out with a razor blade to evenly distribute the thermal grease. If this is not done, the corners of the CPU often are left dry and higher temps result. I think part of getting low temps is proper application of the paste so that all parts of the CPU are thermally coupled to the heat sink.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Heat Sink

Pros: It is very thin so it does not interfere with ram. It keeps my Intel Xeon E5-2620 v2 (6 core 12 thread) at 83F with esxi at idle and 102F with the processor peaked.

Cons: Colors! (Not that it matters when its in a server chassis)

Other Thoughts: One of the best xeon coolers I have owned!

5 out of 5 eggsgood stuff

Pros: Silent, fits supermicro X9QRi (all combos) with chassis 8047R-TRF+.
We have a 1TB machine with plenty of RAID for running the database. This is the development machine.
You might check the NH-U12DXi4 also. It did not fit our ram so we got 4 of the UD9.

Cons: none...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU cooler

Pros: Installs easy on 1366 socket. Just swap out the screws with the set provided for the different thread.

Fans need to be removed to access screws, but fans easily attach afterwards with clips. I though the clips would allow the fans to rattle, but they snap securely in place and the fans rest against plastic pad on the heat sink.

Runs 10 C cooler than stock intel heatsink on Xeon X5650 (Six core, 95W TDP) on Prime95. Stock cooler is similar design except only 3 heat pipes and one fan. Better yet, these fans only need to run at 1000 rpm to achieve these temps compared to 3000 rpm with the stock cooler.

Cools CPU so well at PWM contolled speed and runs to quiet, I did not need to use the included low noise adapters.

All RAM slots can be accessed after fans are installed on Lenovo S20.

Cons: None other than price.

Other Thoughts: With iron egg guarantee, Newegg price matches the online giant. Then include the $15 discount for Google Wallet that was offered (and since expired), and the price was right.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Cooler

Pros: -Very Quiet
-Works well with Narrow ILM motherboards
-Solid construction
-Fits great in 4U server chassis
-Spacing allows for two to be used in dual xeon setups

Cons: -Will hit Ram heatsinks if not using low profile ram/ram without heatsinks. This is to be expected though with air coolers designed for server applications while using desktop ram.

Other Thoughts: I am running two of these in dual xeon server. I have had no problems yet!

5 out of 5 eggsRecommended for Rack Mount Cases

Pros: Quiet and Cool. This CPU cooler keeps a Ivy Bridge 4930k quite cool at stock clock rates. It is amazingly quiet and fits very well in a 4U rackmount case.

Cons: The fans block two memory slots (one in each bank of four), when it is oriented to blow air from front to back of the case. I didn't need these DIMM slots, but I think I can rotate the cooler and blow air to the side if I need to use these DIMMs in the future.

Other Thoughts: My motherboard would come up with a processor fan speed warning on boot. But the fans have always been spinning and keeping the processor cool. I think it may be reporting too low of a spin speed when the machine is first turned on. I see this as more of a problem with the motherboard, as it should have a short delay to allow the fans to turn on.

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU cooler for the money

Pros: -Very quiet...
-Used all Noctua fans for the new server I built for work and you cannot hear it unless you put your ear right next to it!
-3 different mounts for the socket type (great if you are in between Supermicro or Asus server motherboards)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Verify socket type and total heatsink height before buying. I purchased the 140mm version first and it wouldn't fit but this one does fit in a 4U case.
