Vigor Monsoon III LT combines a stylish, elegant design with silent operation and a brilliant cooling solution. Designed to cool the full range of current Intel Socket LGA 1366, 775 and AMD Socket (AM3/AM2+/AM2) processors, it does so with gusto. It features a unique split fin design that puts more surface area within the area of the over 69.69 CFM of airflow from the dual 120mm fans.

A selection of mounting components allow the user to obtain the optimal installation of the cooler to the motherboard so that the cooler's copper base is snug against the CPU's heat spreader. Four 6mm U-shaped copper heat pipes draw heat away from the processor up to the array of aluminum convection fins which they support. The heat is dispersed at a silent 20dBA by the fan which spins on long-lasting sleeved bearings.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance The polished copper base and 4 copper heatpipes conduct heat fast; high-density aluminum fins maximize heat dissipation area, plus dual 120mm, 2000RPM sleeve bearing fan to deliver optimal cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The Vigor Monsoon III LT features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, AM2 and AM2+ platforms, as well as the Intel LGA 775 and 1366 platform.

4 out of 5 eggsReplacing

Pros: Kept it cool in the CPU > i7 1366 socket. NOTE: Easy to replace fans if they die and clean dual grill - remove the 4 screws on top and lift up. Replace with any 120mm fan (like these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103060). Even 1 fan dropped temps by 13-16C.

Cons: fans failed within 3 years. Screws holding sink to motherboard anchor will not budge and seem cheap - simple screwdriver scraping off metal shavings. Even though I bought a Coolermaster Hyper 212, I couldnt install it, but good thing I bought an extra 120mm.

5 out of 5 eggstotal tankage but superb

Pros: popped this sucker in my evga 750i immediately saw temp drops from 44c down to 34c idle while using the new artic mx2 compound coming from artic silver 5 and zalman 92mm, havent gotten a chance to truly test in windows and full load yet gonna be using on a new board which is coming in the mail tomorrow cant wait! amazing cooler for my e8600 wolfdale. using for gaming like cod2, bf bad company 2, doesnt dissapoint one bit, might be expensive but the best air cooler in my opinion and i have used the zalman 92mm copper, artic freezer, and aig all in one water cooler

Cons: HUGE, ......it barely fits in my antec 1200 case which i figured it would cuz i measure before i bought but i did not realize how close the fit was, after soon realizing this my case looks like it holds this big tank of a cooler and looks quite amazing inside with the blue led 120mm fans inside

Other Thoughts: oh and i love the dual 120's blue led fans their amazing!!!

easily will need a full tower to put this baby in, measure your case and make sure you have room before buying!!!

fits in an antec 1200 full tower

Pros: it's big, 2 fans..... a tad bit better than stock cooler by few degrees

Cons: blocks one of my ram slot. i've got gskill ram :( looks like i'll have to take off one of the fan if i want to use up all of the slots.

Other Thoughts: specs

gigabyte x58a ud3r
gskill pi series ddr3 1600

5 out of 5 eggsLarge N In Charge

Pros: Cooled from ~37c with stock cooler to ~18c ! ! ! !
Not to expensive
Easy install. . . once you remove MB

Cons: Had to remove MB to install
Thing is huge, fits with about 1cm to spare

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have enough room in your case, dont use stock thermal compound, dont be cheap and go buy some artic 5 silver

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: When working, it is nice and quiet. I'm not overclocking or really taxing my cpu, I'm mainly interested in a nice, quiet cooling solution and this did achieve that.

Cons: I just lost the 2nd one in just under a year. Both times that it died, the fans quit working.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge!!

Pros: It was easier to install than the Noctua that I put in for a client (and just as quiet) It supports pwm (I installed it on a 1366 chip so all the motherboards support that function{I think}). It lowered my idling temp by 20 degrees celcius (Intel should be sued for their totally worthless cpu fans). I strongly advise going on the vigor gaming website and watching the facebook video on how to install it on a 1366 platform (it's funny as well). After watching it about 4 times (mostly for the music) I didn't even bother reading the instruction page that came with the package (I also used arctic silver 5 instead of theirs). Worked slick as can be. I did also do 1 thing that wasn't in their video. I put locktite on all the screws (8)

Cons: It wasn't free

Other Thoughts: This will NOT fit in a standard width desktop case. The case needs to be at least 8 inches wide for it to fit (and some of the cables may be tough to install if you don't do them before you put the motherboard into the case

4 out of 5 eggsGreat heatsink but...

Pros: i7 920 running 3.66ghz... also have one on an AMD Phenom II, also overclocked a good deal. Your mileage may vary, but it worked great for me. It's Big and Looks Cool. hehe, it is cool...

Cons: It's too big for some cases. I have an antec 1200 and my son's case if pretty large too so no problems! Fans on mine have worn out in little over a year. I'll be checking his today, his is newer so maybe they are still ok. Luckily I opened my case up in 68 degree bedroom to look at something else. If it was summer I have a bad feeling that I might have a different review.

Other Thoughts: This is a great heat sink. It's a great cooler, I'd buy another one tomorow, but I will replace the fans before I'll put the lid on the box next time.

1 out of 5 eggsMonsoon AM3 Fayls

Pros: Its really built well and would've been wonderful.

Cons: AM3 socket accessories were a no go. With everything installed correctly on my m4a78t with the phenom 965, it sat just a hair off the CPU and brought heat temp to 50+. With stock cooler, it idles at 38 and maxes at 45. Just not acceptable.

Other Thoughts: Should definitely be removed from the list of AM3 coolers.

5 out of 5 eggsReally really big

Pros: It works well, and cools the CPU. I bought this back in November 2009 and have not experienced problems with the fans becoming loose that other users have mentioned. I did tighten the screws before installing it though.

It looks pretty with the blue led fans

Cons: Kinda loud

LEDs are really bright

Other Thoughts: It is really big, and covers up 2 ram slots on my Gigabyte UD3R LGA 1156 ATX mobo. I don't have second set to see if I can fit them in there, but ram with cooling blocks will definitely not be able to fit.
