Vigor Monsoon III LT combines a stylish, elegant design with silent operation and a brilliant cooling solution. Designed to cool the full range of current Intel Socket LGA 1366, 775 and AMD Socket (AM3/AM2+/AM2) processors, it does so with gusto. It features a unique split fin design that puts more surface area within the area of the over 69.69 CFM of airflow from the dual 120mm fans.

A selection of mounting components allow the user to obtain the optimal installation of the cooler to the motherboard so that the cooler's copper base is snug against the CPU's heat spreader. Four 6mm U-shaped copper heat pipes draw heat away from the processor up to the array of aluminum convection fins which they support. The heat is dispersed at a silent 20dBA by the fan which spins on long-lasting sleeved bearings.

Nice and easy with some caution...

Pros: Stock cooler was hitting the thermal limit on some burn tests. The Vigor brought temps way way down (better than a Zalman 9700 with LGA1366 bracket).

Install is quick and easy as long as you carefully follow the latest instructions from Vigor's website. Why the
website? Because the instructions in the box are INACCURATE with some glaring mistakes in the printed stuff.

As others have noted, two words of caution: 1) The main screws are threaded in reverse - the instructions do
correctly show the reverse threading with some directional arrows but they're tiny and easy to misread. 2) On some installs (Core i7), do NOT install the plastic insulation washers but do install the flexible rubber washers - using both sets will not allow the copper base from contacting the CPU (website instructions are clear - but others here are still installing both set of washers). Don't do it!

Cons: Instructions in the box are WRONG. Please visit Vigor's website for the latest instructions.

Almost silent. Super Quiet. A winner for HTPC.

Pros: I bought this on a whim. I already have a Zalman 9700 and a Vendetta 2. This cools as well as both and probably better if you take the fan speed and type out of the equation. This is the quietest CPU cooler I have ever had. It is quieter than the stock Intel also. It is almost silent. I will be moving this to my HTPC to replace the Vendetta2 with Noctua Fan.

There was no clearance issues mounting this on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P. It mounts securely with the aid of a backplate (included for all sockets/installation optional) and I would not be afraid to cart a PC with this as the CPU cooler back and forth to LANs.

Cons: Eight pin power connector was hard to get to once this cooler was mounted but that is more the result of me packing everything in a Lian Li A05B.

Pros: Solid steel mounting brackets (insulated on underside), Moderately quiet, big 120 mm fans, temperature controlled fan speeds, has a mounting bracket for just about every current CPU slot...

Cons: Okay so this thing is huge! I had to return a case because it wouldn't fit with my case fans... be careful and consider checking clearances before you buy!

Other Thoughts: When you're building a system, you'd be wise to install this after everything else and just before you put the motherboard in the case! My memory modules were completely blocked when I went to drop them in their slots.

Oh and don't forget to take the plastic protective film off the copper heat sink! :)

Pros: I put this on a AMD 3.4 Quad core phenom black edition. At idle my processor runs cooler than ambient room temperature. At full game on I have no trouble with heat.

Cons: Big. Watch it for case clearance. Not too easy to install.

Other Thoughts: The two fans are led lit with a subdued blue color. the fans have one push, one pull. Get the flow direction right to move the heat out of your case.

Pros: 120mm x 2 gives 240mm of fan blades cooling this puppy.

Cons: This thing is huge.

Other Thoughts: This thing is so big creates its own weather system. Tonight's forecast - cold.
