5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: I've had two of these, ordered on 10/6/2010. Still going strong. Installed on my Areca ARC-1880ix RAID card. Brought temps down from about 95C to 47C. (It's installed in a low airflow HTPC case - that card was designed for high airflow datacenter applications)

Cons: Be sure this size is right for you. If it's not, you may need to use thermal epoxy or some other method to adhere it. For the Areca card, these popped right in.

5 out of 5 eggsWill require a dremel for some motherboards

Pros: I had to install this on an old a8n-sli deluxe board. The fan plug was blocking one of the holes and the top hole was hitting capacitors. You would have to trim the edges on both sides significantly. After that it fits OK, not perfect, but it fits

Cons: Not universal like its claimed

5 out of 5 eggsperfect!

Pros: Can't hear it; exactly what I wanted from my 2 new chipset coolers!

Cons: Read other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I initially purchased the enzotech option from newegg that comes without the fan; one for my northbridge and one for my southbridge chipset. I assumed it was a fanless option, but after about 5 minutes my northbridge was hitting temps of 90°C and I shut my computer off. I don't know if because of my "average tech level" I was missing something, but I sent them back and ordered two of the heatsinks listed above. I was worried that the tiny fans would be just as loud as the heatsink I was replacing, but not at all! Extremely pleased with how silent they are.

Even if I'm running my computer at 100%, I have yet to see the chipset hit 60°C, although during normal use its usually under 52°C. Also, same as most people, I used arctic silver 5 for installing...

4 out of 5 eggsWorking Great So Far

Pros: Actually fit on my Asus A8N-E which is a very hard board on which to replace the chipset heatsink.

Cons: Only real issue I have with it is that the fan is pretty loud. This wouldn't normally be an issue, except that the fan is 35mm which is an almost impossible dimension to find a replacement for. Easily the loudest fan on my rig, but at least it fits on my mobo.

Other Thoughts: I used Arctic Silver 5 instead of the included thermal grease. I'm very tempted to buy the model without the fan since I don't overclock and see if that is sufficient.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect fit

Pros: Copper, has a fan that surprisingly pushes a lot of air for how small it is. I have an Abit AB9 Pro and the NorthBridge tempts were super hot. Now they are super cool

Cons: It took a bit of pressure to push the pins into the slots of my MB and it doesnt keep it super secure and in one spot. But the push pins keep it on top of the chip good enough

Other Thoughts: May just try to get another for my other bridge

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: An actual North Bridge heat sink that works and is made from copper and not aluminum.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Motherboard north bridge fans are notorious for stopping and allowing the chip to overheat. This one really helps cool down your chip and allows the heat to disspate. Would still recommend putting a dab of Artic Silver down instead of the included thermal paste, but then I'm spoiled.

5 out of 5 eggswhat they don't tell you

Pros: it works. it lowered my northbridge by ~10C on a supermicro server board

Cons: it ain't cheap, but price shouldn't factor in the the rating.

Other Thoughts: its much heavier than the cheap aluminum heatsink it replaced, and that, i expect, is precisely why it costs so much.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very Quiet! Only one found that fits the DFI NF4 board. Easy install, only had to remove the front panel connectors and external plugs. Very professional packaging - no blister pac. Installation is not square with module, but still provides good coverage.

Cons: No protective film over the chip contact surface to prevent oxidation in storage. Pricey.

Other Thoughts: One egg down because of Newegg TAT.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Fan

Pros: Perfect replacement sink for older boards running newer big video cards. Works as intended.

Cons: None I can see.

Other Thoughts: Keep an eye on the fan, might wear faster than normal due to high RPM.
