1 out of 5 eggsafter 20 years of building pcs, I have found the crappiest cooler ever madeww

Pros: ?

Cons: Look, this is cheap for a reason, it is soooo flimsy, and very difficult to install on the motherboard. In fact, I'm taking a break from my build to let people know "SPEND A LITTLE MORE MONEY" Something similar to the cooler master 212.... I thought this was... it is not... poor construction

5 out of 5 eggsFor $20, this cooler is a steal!!

Pros: Installed LG775 socket.

-Easy install
-Great clearance
-Dropped my E8400 3.0ghz from 42c to 31c (idle) 52c (under load)
-Dropped my E8400 OC 3.6ghz from 55c to 41c (idle) 59c (under load)
-Did I say very, very easy install?
-Extremely fast shipping!
-Shipped w/ thermal paste on cooler

Cons: -Uses the Intel plastic push pins so be very careful when installing. They're easy to break.

Other Thoughts: If you need a cooler at a bargain price than this one is for you. I'm not trying to cool anything serious so I bit on this $20 cooler right away. Yes, there are more expensive, and better, coolers on the market but if you don't need it, got w/ this one!! Once you have the push pins locked into place this cooler isn't moving. I highly recommend this cooler!!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Heat sink

Pros: I replaced an older stock heat sink and the CPU running temperature dropped from 85 C to 55 C while under load.

Cons: The mounting pins are cheap so be careful installing. Due to size of Heat sink and my case. I had to take motherboard out of the case to install.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer:
Thanks for your purchase of DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300, we are sorry for the inconvenience it caused to you!
Please don't worry, this mounting pins(push pin) have been tested and proved to be firm enough to install and support the cooler!

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, great low temperatures, easy to install on AMD FX 8300

Pros: 25 Degree temperature reduction under load vs. stock AMD fan.
Easy to install on my AMD FX 8300 without removing the motherboard (it uses the AMD "clip" system).
Perfectly fits in place, leaving room for tall RAM (I have custom heat spreaders and no problems there).
Compact enough (136mm tall) to fit in my mATX case without interfering with side fans.
Very quiet; not 100% silent but close to it.

Cons: After several weeks installed, the fan has moved down a few millimeters, no longer 100% centered on the CPU. (I think this is unavoidable when using the clip system with a heatpipe-tower cooler, and it has had no measurable effect on cooling ability.)

Other Thoughts: I upgraded my AMD FX 8300 stock fan to this one because my core temperatures for a mild overclock of 3.6GHz (vs. 3.3 stock) would easily top 70°C under load with the AMD fan, which gave me throttling problems. With the exact same setup and same overclock, changing nothing but the fan, the Deepcool Gammaxx 300 measures a full 25 degrees cooler under load (where it matters), core temp 45°C even after a half-hour of prime95 torture test. All at its lowest, quietest fan speed. My motherboard temps are even running cooler than before. This product 100% does what it advertises and I couldn't be happier with it.

- All temps measured with lm-sensors.

- I definitely recommend this fan.

- I would definitely buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Quiet easy to install

Pros: This fan does an excellent job of cooling, looking at avg temps from the Intel fan that I got with the chip, and this fan the DeepCool is about 4F cooler on average. Installed easily, and when I powered up the fan was so quiet I double checked to make sure it was
running, I've never had a quieter CPU cooler.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Would , and have recommended this to son and friends who also do DYI builds

1 out of 5 eggsUsed on Gigabyte G1 Mobo with Skylake i7-6700k,

Pros: Very good price from NewEgg. Did the job but not real well. Kept the CPU under 80°C most of the time.

Cons: The instructions really need to be re-written. A couple pictures really doesn't tell you enough about how to install it properly. I wish I'd of watched a video on how to install before attempting (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ6I0oWXO-A). The plastic pins don't hold well, bend and break easily.

Other Thoughts: It will work and do the job if you watch a video and take your time installing. It shouldn't be as hard as it was.

2 out of 5 eggsNot sure if i will ever buy this again

Pros: Cheap, free shipping from newegg, got to my house fast very low fan noise

Cons: Took way 2 long to instal and it was way to hard to install on top of that. You have to buy a tiny screwdriver. they put way too much thermal paste on the Cooler

Other Thoughts: When i first got this cooler i opened the box and popped on the AMD bracket and tried to install the CPU Cooler but u have to install it at a tilt and then press down to lock it into place.. I had to figure that out because the papers that came with the CPU cooler didn't help whatsoever... also if you want to remove the cooler (i just removed it just to see how hard it would be and it was more a pain than putting it on... you have to push it down a little bit and then push the thumb pin out as you push the cooler down... it does a pretty good job with cooling the CPU for the price but i can't see myself doing this again.. I bought this CPU cooler because my old one made to much dang on noise. it was so hard for me to sleep with my old cooler without turning off my PC. But this one though is 99% more quiet.. I just got done throwing my old CPU cooler away, it won't be missed believe that... Lastly make sure you buy an eyeglass kit because the screws that you need for the AMD bracket are very small and i had to run to the store and buy an eyeglass kit just to screw this in...

note: they also put way too much thermal paste on the cooler so I think you should remove the paste and put new paste on because when i took off the cooler i saw paste all up on the chip sides and you know that's not good that can short the motherboard out.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid cooler, but maybe go with something else

Pros: Good cooling so far.

Cons: Instructions were unclear. Attachment prongs are designed to fit multiple socket sizes, which makes them a bit loose - and you don't want a loose fan. Louder than I expected (although still much quieter than the stock fan).

Other Thoughts: Perfectly fine CPU cooler, but there are lots of perfectly fine ones at this price point. If doing it again, I'd go with something else to try to get one that was less noisy at high frequencies.

1 out of 5 eggsCannot use

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Cannot install on motherboard, touches capacitors. Costs more to rma than it's worth. Will send
for rebate and toss it in trash.

Other Thoughts: Check your motherboard clearance closely before ordering.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product once installed. This is an Intel install review.

Pros: Keeps my i5 4460 at 65C when running prime 95 for 30 minutes. It ran 82C with stock cooler in the same test previously. I am very impressed with these results. There is some variable to these temps, they were not taken on the same day. i I realize I did not need this cooler to keep my CPU in the recommend temperature range. I got it to reduce noise, and it was $10 dollars with rebate. I have yet to receive my rebate though.

Cons: I had an extremely difficult time installing this. The first time attempting to install I failed. I blame this on not understanding the after market pushpins. Also I did not not remove other hardware in my machine. In order to install into my machine I had to remove the Video card, exhaust fan, and one stick of ram. The fan also had to be removed from the CPU cooler to insert the push pins into the MB. two of the push pins are directly underneath the fan. Reinstalling the fan onto the cooler can be hard due to it being held on by by two separate wires.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product. Once installed it does a good job. Its not the best CPU cooler but for $10 after a rebate it cannot be beaten.
