5 out of 5 eggsEasy Install

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Very easy to install. Took me maybe 20min. That's counting taking the stock cooler out and cleaning up the processor. Clipped right in.

Cons: None really. I do wish I bought the DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX S40 or they all have the same design. But with and extra heatsink. For only 5 dollars more then this one.

Other Thoughts: I did a little overclocking. fx6300. I got 4.1MHz never went over 58c at full load. Idle 31c.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler, Nice Big Fan

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Big Fan ( Doesn't need to spin so much)
Doesn't feel or look cheap
Light Weight
Came Pre-Paste

Cons: Installing was tricky

Other Thoughts: Installing it was a bit tricky, the Intel Bracket didn't seem to want to lock down. Realize the lock position on the bracket where in the other side (Different from their instructed)

Overall great Cooler and Pre paste pattern was nice and speard out.

2 out of 5 eggsPop in place

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Cheap, Direct to heat pipe style is what I was looking for.

Cons: The pop in place method of securing a heatsink to a mobo, is seriously outdated and extreme pain to deal with, the amount of pressure you need to apply in order for it to properly attach is risky to the motherboard. I got 3 of the 4 in place but the other plastic latch gave way, I had to rig it in place. If my socket and motherboard was so dated and would RMA, but I wouldnt order this for a new build, or any other for that matter.

Other Thoughts: I would have gladly spent a few more dollars for a better method of securing the heat sink to the board, if it was screw in with a back plate this would be a better product.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic for the price/ Hard to Mount

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Firstly the fan is extremely silent, Keeps my FX-6300 Well under 60 under heavy load, Instructions fairly clear. 20-30 Idle 47-56 Under heavy load. Does its job well for the price, Note this is with the pre-applied thermal paste.

Cons: Mounting on a AMD socket requires ALOT of force to clamp on, 1-2 Hours after install idle temps sat around 54 c which worried me at first but after 4-5 hours it settled to low 20's low 30's idle. Not much else to say

Other Thoughts: Fan is Super silent does its job well cooling my CPU under heavy load worth the price! Would definitely buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: I have an AMD FX-8350 (4.0 Ghz 8 core 125W) which I expect to run hot. The stock cooler kept it around 42-46 degrees celcius at idle and anywhere from 55-65 while gaming. I saw it go to 67 once and chose to stop playing the game.

This cooler keeps idle temp at 34-37 with my processor, in my case. While gaming, temps run 45-50. The highest temperature that I've seen was 54 while playing Battlefield 4.

As far as noise is concerned, the stock cooler was like a jet engine. This cooler isn't silent, but I can't hear it over the case fans. The only time I can hear it is when the PC goes to sleep, the case fans turn off, and the CPU fan revs a couple times for some reason.

Installation: I read that it would be difficult in other reviews and heard that in a couple youtube reviews. Some people said it took an hour or more. Actually, it wasn't that bad for me. I couldn't remove the mobo and it was tight quarters, but I only spent about 10-15 minutes doing it. The trick is to remove your processor and practice putting the cooler on first, in case you have to reach in and do it blind like I did. It helps to tilt the cooler at around a 60 degree angle and attach the first hook that way. Second hook was easy and didn't require as much for as I read it would. This processor is socket AM3+

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: I have 6 case fans, temps reported are all in this case with 6 fans. The temps were also recorded while running Windows 8 and are reported in celcius. I dual boot Ubuntu and it ran a bit cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsDEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Very good price, good quality. Runs quietly with AMD 8-Core 3.5GHz 125W. Thermal paste pre-applied, and it was just the right amount.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I didn't expect a cooler of that price to perform so well, it was a pleasant surprise. I will certainly consider the brand again.

5 out of 5 eggsoutstanding

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Really don't know where to start. Easy set up if your used to amd clips, the cooling factor is amazing. Installed with an fx6300, and gtx 960ftw, after benchmarking, running skyrim with mods for a few hours, and ended the day with a few hours of starcraft 2, all at max/near max settings in 1080, this cooler kept the cpu right around 23 degrees Celsius while under load, 12-14 within a minute or 2 of ending a program. 100% impressed.

Cons: It's pretty large in height, heatsink misses my case side my less than half an inch. Standard mid atx case.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic cpu cooler

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Stock cooler idle 42c Full load 65c
Gammaxx 300 idle 29c full load around 45c
Pretty quiet. Nice blue fan blades. Well packaged. Easy to install.
Bang for the buck

Other Thoughts: For the price you get an excellent cpu cooler. Own it for 3 months now and it's running great! I completely recommend it for entry level builds.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds More Options for Mounting

This review is from: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan, Silver Award from HardwareSecret.com

Pros: Fan and Heat Exchanger looks and perform great. Good Price. Nice and quiet.

Cons: Caution if you have a newer DELL OPTIPLEX - The DEEPCOOL mounting system is not as functional/universal as the description would have you believe. I discarded the plastic parts because they are not designed to fit or apply proper compression between the CPU and heat exchanger. Also the fan cable terminator isn't compatible with my OPTIPLEX motherboard's CPU fan outlet.

Other Thoughts: Installed in a DELL OPTIPLEX 9020 - 115X(CPU). The plastic standoffs do not seat properly in the base plate holes because the existing base plate must remain in place as an integral part of the CPU holder. I had to remove the DEEPCOOL's fan cable terminator and splice in the one from my DELL CPU fan. I used my XPS' original CPU fan as a guide to determine where each of the four (BK-RD-YL-BL) wire should connect to the DEEPCOOL fan cable. I should note that the DEEPCOOL fan would have plugged into my XPS 8700 motherboard.
