2 out of 5 eggsBase is Copper coated Aluminum

Pros: Product will fit almost any northbrige out there, given you have the room to fit for capacitors, fit my x58 board well, Intel DX58OG it cleared everything.

Cons: All copper is misleading, the base is aluminum. I scraped off the coating on the top side in a small spot to reveal the aluminum, why, because it felt way to light. The temperature difference was very minimal even after I let the arctic silver set, 3 degrees C (68C instead of 71C) under load, and it is seated very well. The bottom compared with the mounting points were less than .003 of an inch, half a human hair, so it is square with my X58, I have an arctic cooling case with 2 front 120mm intake, 2 120 mm fans out the back, 2 120's from the side blowing on the heatsink and my video card and 2 120's blowing down on it from the top with a h70 water cooler on my cpu, and an 80 mm rotary fan 2 spaces below the video card for more outtake of air. This product should perform better, if only the base was truly copper. I have been building computers since parts were available to the public to build them and have never seen this blatant misinformation about a product on newegg, to which has been my #1 place to go since i can remember. I love newegg for all my computer needs, but under where it says in stock it should say *Northbridge
*Copper Coated Aluminum Base
*Copper heatpipes and fins

Other Thoughts: all in all if this were all copper it would be the best Northbridge heatsink made, despite having only 2 mounting points for the motherboard, it was designed this way to fit a wide array of motherboard/northbridge combinations. The mounts aren't that difficult to install if you take your time, as you should with the main part of your build, don't take shortcuts and it is an easy fit. 2 eggs for newegg only, product gets none, if it were all copper it would be a 5 i am sure.

5 out of 5 eggsBridge cooler.

Pros: -all copper.
-good design.
- see Other thoughts.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Here is a very nice north-bridge cooler made of cooper. It fits perfectly fine in my P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard and does the job very well, I had an improvise water-cooling system on the bridge that was an overkill, plus water is not very welcome in my computer builds. In case you may have an ASUS P6tDeluxe this is very value information, yes you can still use the PCIe slot next to the bridge, you may enconter some problems with your CPU heat-sink getting in the way. My CPU fan also cools the CC8. One thing is also important here, If you have a flag ship video card like mine and the room temperature is some what hot some of the heat from the GPU may heat up a little the bridge. My solution was to move the GPU to the other PCIe slot. And one final note is that I did not use the included plastic retention clips, instead I use the original screws from the older heat-sink but go easy when using screws a gentle twist is more than enough to secure the CC8.

The temperature now is about 45c, factory was 57c. water was 36c. room temp @ 80f

1 out of 5 eggsAwful Mounting. Cheap.

Pros: Great cooling potential.

Cons: Really, REALLY bad mounting mechanism. This thing relies on push through springy plastic things. IT just doesn't work. This problem makes the heatsink wobble around on the motherboard, and not make very good contact.

Other Thoughts: Would be great had they spent 5 seconds longer designing the mounting mechanism. Its like they didn't even test the thing.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Looking HS

Pros: Very solid, well built HS. Looks fantastic! Mounts are wide eough to fit the holes on my ga-870a-usb3, which is a challenge!

Cons: The pins are very small and there is no support foam to stabilize the hs, which makes mounting very difficult on a tiny chipset like mine. I will have to buy nylon screws & nuts to fasten it since it is very heavy. also some foam or tape to support it so it doesn't wobble like weebles. The springs are very springy and too tight for a small chip.

Other Thoughts: Thought i had it installed and BAM! the whole thing went flying, almost broke my tv. Still can't find one of the springs. Be careful with this one. Or get some nuts and screws to be on the safe side.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Sink, Bad Mounts

Pros: Copper Pipes and Fins, excellent heat transfer

Cons: Mounting hardware is abysmal. The pushpins are very weak. Go buy some replacement nuts and bolts, otherwise it will forever be loose.

Other Thoughts: Mounted on an MSI 890fx board to replace the tiny one that came with it. Used some artic silver of course.
