4 out of 5 eggsGood for price

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing.
Good sound quality overall.
Price.
Decent-length cord.

Cons: Bass is so-so at best.

Other Thoughts: Just your average run-of-the-mill speakers. Recommend to anyone on a budget or looking for a quick solution to missing speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for my needs

Pros: These are hard to beat for the price. Volume is very good for watching TV/videos on a computer. Stylish. Long cord between speakers. On-off switch, volume & tone controls right on the speaker.

Cons: Footprint is somewhat large - triangle 5" on a side.

Other Thoughts: I have very nice and somewhat expensive speakers throughout my house... these ain't them. I know fidelity and good speakers and I would never buy these for serious music listening. But I watch baseball and other DirecTV HD shows on my computer and the sound is great for the price. I am replacing the tiny speakers built into the back of my monitor and for the first time, I don't need the full volume out of my computer. In fact, I find if I keep my computer volume at 50% and the Altec Lansings at 50%, I can hear everything being said quite clearly. And music is OK if you just want to sample a song or something like that.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't go wrong for the money.

Pros: These speakers sound amazing right out of the box. Bass is excellent considering the size of these speakers, and the lack of sub woofer. I must say they sound much better than my previous speakers the JBL Duet II which I paid $65 for. It's nice that the power and volume knobs are separated unlike the duets which just had one button, also the ability to control the tone is a nice feature. Another pro to these speakers is that I can turn them on without having to put my hand on top of the speaker so it will not fall over. The JBL duets had this problem because the power/volume knob took a bit of force to turn on and the speakers did not weigh enough to stay in place. The Auxiliary jack is a nice bonus for when you want to connect a portable device to the speakers without disconnecting them from your PC. The design of these speakers is modern and sleek, they look great overall.

Cons: The cables are a bit flimsy, but not bad enough to break the deal.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for 2.0 speakers that sound great, are not too expansive, and have the right amount of bass then look no further.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Speakers for the Money

Pros: Speakers sound great. They have a bold design which makes them stand out. Power button is separate from volume control and tone control. They have auxiliary input so that you plug in your MP3 player to it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: These Altec Lansing speakers are one of the best ones for under 30 bucks. They don't have a sub but if you don't mind that, than you will certainly enjoy these speakers. As for the volume, they are pretty loud at less than halfway there. Of course any speaker that you try to push beyond the halfway point, will sound horrible. Just make sure that your windows volume is turned up, and you shouldn't have any issues.

Pros: -Good sound.
-On/off switch separate from volume knob
-Tone knob

3 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: They don't sound awful and they can get pretty loud.

Cons: About the time you get to half volume, it sounds pretty awful. A headphone plug doesn't quite fit in right, so I have to have it loosely hanging just right about halfway in to get it to play through both headphones, and once I do, the volume knob on the speakers doesn't do anything so I have to use my computer's volume settings.
