5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Comments: These are fabulous for at-work speakers. Less than $xx bucks including shipping. They're solid and don't slide around on my desk. Using ASUS A7N8X-X internal audio.
Don't know how so many shipments arrive in a couple days from newegg. These didn't leave NJ for 2 days after they were ordered. Still good service and I hope they keep getting better.

Comments: Well, I personally own Logitech Z-680's at home (arguably the best 5.1 sound system available). I needed some speakers for work. Looking for CHEAP I also wanted to get something that sounded decent. Well, these are them. They sound nice when I EQ them with Winamp! I walked around the office (while the boss was out) and I could hear them anywhere I went downstairs. Hell, I went upstairs and I could still (vaguely) hear them. With the right EQ, there's no distortion. Keep your preamp down and your volume controls around 80%. These are nice speakers for the cost. I would buy again for another simple home user solution.

Comments: I think this is one of the best value 2.0 speakers you can get. The sound is a bit harsh when you first take it out of the box, but it warms up nicely after you use it for a few hours. The sound quality will surpass your expectations for speakers in this price range. A definite must buy if you want speakers but don't want to spend a lot of money on them.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: For xx im happy with the purchase, had to mess with the EQ a bit but I got them to sound pretty good. Keep in mind this is only a two speaker setup without a subwoofer so the sound wont blow your mind. the bass isnt spectacular, you dont get most low notes. after optimiseing the EQ I could turn up the valume almost 3/4 up (with very little bass) before they start to destort too bad. over all if your picky about sound I wouldent recomend these for music or other things that require a larger frequency range, but pretty good computer speakers. then again this is coming from someone who wasnt happy with their car stereo until I had $2000 into it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Purchased these speakers to hook up externally to my laptop. Obviously superior sound compared to my laptop, but also better quality than any two speaker system I have listened to on computers at my work. There is a headphone port on the side of the right speaker, there is no bulky AC adaptor, the triangular shape is great for positioning in the two corners of my desk, but the cable connecting the left and right speakers is permanently attached on both speakers which I have never seen before on a speaker set. This is not a problem for me, but something useful to know before purchasing since you won't be able to feed that cable through a computer desk, limiting cable management.

5 out of 5 eggsBest $$$/Fun ratio in speakers...

Comments: I bought a pair of these to leave in a hotel I stay in working out of town on a regular basis. For $xx who cares if the hotel help steals them from checked luggage, right? Well, after listening, I WOULD!!!

Seriously, for under $xx you get a fairly capable pair of speakers, AC powered without a wall wart, with the usual Altec Lansing build quality. I have them running off my motherboard's AC97 sound output, and after judicious use of software EQ they sound great (a bit boxy without the EQ). The key is you need to graphic EQ them (boot bass +8db at 50, slowly dip to -3 at 600hz, and then use a log curve to boost treble back to +8db at 18k hz. Think of a V with the bottom dip at 600hz, curving gracefully towards each side, and you can visuallize the graphic EQ settings I used). Once you EQ them, you need turn them in so that the centerline of the speakers converge right at your head. It's a small sweet spot, but potent.

The nice thing is that these speakers will handle that much EQ without being overdriven at decent volume levels. Many cheap speakers sound bad when EQed, but these rule...they look classy too, I have them next to my Antec Aria case and NEC black flat panel. All from NewEgg, of course!

5 out of 5 eggsA power-packing set of good speakers.

Comments: These speakers really surprised me. When I saw "5 watts RMS", I didn't know what that was, so I figured, "only 5 watts? They must not be very loud". I've been using a set of unpowered speakers, and these are AMAZING (they say they can go up to 96db!). These are VERY LOUD and can go much louder than you can take, and they can make head-aching bass kicks if you wish. If you want a set of good speakers for a good price, go for these, I'd buy them again.
