High style meets high fidelity with Creative's GigaWorks T40 Series II 2.0 speakers. Like its award-winning predecessor, this new two-piece system, finished in a stylish high-glossy black coating, has been carefully refined to enhance its visual appeal and acoustic capability, propelling your audio enjoyment to a whole new level.
The GigaWorks T40 Series II is built to recreate the live music experience in your home, with professional-quality woofer drivers and high frequency tweeters for perfectly balanced audio, complemented by Creative's BasXPort technology that delivers excellent full range audio with rich extended bass, without a subwoofer. Two inputs let you simultaneously connect a PC and an MP3 player, without having to swap cables.
The GigaWorks T40 Series II fully delivers its promise of acoustic audio quality with a style that complements any setup, in such a low price, needn’t consider any more – just get and enjoy it!
Pros: Full sound without the need of a separate sub. Actually, the bass coming out of these speakers is perfect. My primary purpose for these is gaming on my desktop, but I hooked up my iPhone and was very impressed with the sound quality while playing music.
Nice to be able to control bass, treble, and volume right on the speaker.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: Love the small footprint without sacrificing quality of sound. Line-in input in one of the speakers is perfect to hook up MP3 players and the like.
They look cool- like mini towers.

Overpriced, but good

Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Good looking speakers. The bezels are shiny and the drivers look good without their covers. As others have said, there's a lot of clarity and depth in the sound.
Cons: Sound-wise, I expected more for $140. The bass is adequate for PC listening, but it's a bit hollow. I've tried it with my 40" TV, and while the sound was BETTER than the normal TV speakers, bass was lacking and there was distortion at loud moments.
Other Thoughts: The hard-wired cord that connects the two speakers is far too short. It's adequate if you have your speakers set on opposite sides of your screen, even with a dual-monitor setup. However, if you wanted to put the speakers more than 4 feet from each-other you would be out of luck.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Speakers have a small footprint and are aesthetically pleasing, especially with the cloth speaker grills removed. Clear mids, sparkling highs. Soundstage is wide and dynamic.
Cons: Lacks bass, which is to be expected for woofers this small. There is pronounced resonance in the 120-140Hz range. This gives the speakers a “nasal” or “boxy” sound. Whether this is unintentional, or the result of some “bass boosting” gimmick, it is quite noticeable, and detracts from the otherwise decent sound quality.
Other Thoughts: Knobs are very smooth. Fingers slip unless knobs are gripped tightly. Speaker grill interferes with knob adjustment somewhat.
If you’ve got limited space and don’t need lots of bass (and don‘t mind wasting money), these speakers do the job, albeit with a bit of tweaking. However, at this price, I would have expected better in terms of sound quality and ergonomics.

Great Speakers, Great Value!
Reviewed By: Casual Reviewer on 1/20/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Great, full, rich sound from computer speakers - they rival the 2.1 speaker set I had from creative that I bought a couple years back. The bonus? That there is no subwoofer under my desk anymore. Can control bass/ treble on the fly with the dials + covers if you don't like the look of yellow speaker cones.
Cons: Not extremely strong bass (no subwoofer), but decent enough (not a hardcore bass fan).
