3 out of 5 eggsGood price, low quality

Pros: Good sound our of the speakers, small, light and look stylish.

Cons: Bad Sub-woofer. Broken right out of the box. I didn't want to have to deal with a return since I got these so cheap that I just threw away the sub-woofer and used the speakers with an existing sub-woofer I had. They work fine but just beware, you may get a bad sub-woofer.

5 out of 5 eggsRedemption

Pros: Solid response through out range. Great value for the price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I recently trashed the Logitech Z313 2.1 system that I purchased for my office so I feel obligated to redeem them in this review. Considering the fact that I paid less that twenty dollars more for these speakers the difference is like night and day. Ideally this system would be perfect for a small room or home office (there's no way I could use them at work unless I wanted to share my tunes with everyone on the 3rd floor). I use them in the kitchen with my Ipod and they fill up the room quite nicely at less than half volume. Of course, they're not going to compete with high end speakers but they have decent range and excellent base response even with the subwoofer off of the floor. A solid purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsOk Buy if you Don't mind Not Having a Warranty

Pros: This review is meant to consider the aspects of this Refurbished condition; for actual product criticisms, see 'other thoughts'.

I think I got lucky in receiving a next to new system as it worked decently well out of the plain brown box it came in. Despite the questionable packing, miraculously, there were no damages, with only a negligible scratch or two from a previous owner.

Cons: Was packed like a 2yr old's toy box, tossed in, loose without even bubble wrap (but somehow survived; see pros).

Missing all speaker cords; apparently they forgot to toss those in! (I had to use a few of my own spare cords for testing)

Their customer support is disgusting!
When I called logitech for replacements, they flat out denied the 90day parts/labor warranty. They were inconsiderate and argumentative, denied responsibility, and did everything to make the customer feel like it was their fault for the missing parts.

They also said that the warranty listed on newegg is false and they will not support third party distributors' warranties, even if the refurb came from their factory; this goes for any of their refurbished products.

I ultimately had to escalate the matter higher up. 3hrs and countless hoop-jumps later, I manage to persuade them to review for approval, in sending a 'courtesy set' provided my uploaded photos, model numbers and other vitals were copacetic. Which didn't get approved and sent to me for almost two weeks, long after the 30day return policy.

After which no other claims would be honored.

Other Thoughts: As others have mentioned the, sound is a little distorted at higher volumes, but its just fine for my use on a desktop; probably not the best for gaming, but can't argue the refurb price. Any sound and/or aesthetic considerations would also be relevant for a new system.

I was going to rate a 2 star if only for a good working product, but Newegg supported their 30day return policy and offered to credit the cords, so +1 egg for Newegg.

'Caveat Emptor' -- "Let the buyer beware!"
So, at the end of the day its a luck of the draw in getting a good working product. If you understand the risks of buying a refurb from logitech: that you are buying without having any warranty whatsoever.
Logitech will not stand behind any of their Refurbished products.

I've been a logitech loyalist since '87 when they advertised in the back pages of Compute! magazine (I still have an original C64 mouseman.) I frequented their factory outlet in Newark. Looks like they've gotten a bit to big in the britches since then. This will likely be my last product from them.

1 out of 5 eggsSub blew out in less than 1 hour of use

Pros: -Sound was decent for the time it was playing.
-2 audio input sources, RCA and AUX

Cons: -Sub blew out in less than 1 hour.
-speakers do not balance well and topple over easily.
-bass control on the back of sub woofer
-"refurbished"

Other Thoughts: If you buy this refurb, test for several hours on mid-high output immediately. I waited a few months before using it for the first time and cannot return/exchange it.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy another product

Pros: When I purchased the first unit it worked well for 91 days, just over the warranty. The sound was rich and full considering the specs. The cosmetic appeal was pleasing.

Cons: The first unit broke 1 day after the 91 day warranty ended. The amp blew up inside the box and rattled about loose. This one was the second set I have tried. Both have failed!!! If I could give no eggs or minus eggs for the experience I would.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby.

Pros: They work. Cost 40$ with promo code, and I haven't had any problems yet. Although...

Cons: They aren't superb by any means. But if you want superb sound quality, pick up a more expensive set of speakers.

Other Thoughts: Do their job. Worth every penny. I give 4/5 eggs for the unbelievable value. HOwever, don't seem to be able to get the rear speakers working outside of the windows test. Will update for other scrubs like myself who need assistance.

5 out of 5 eggs5.1 Upgrade

Pros: Decent sound if you're not looking to blast tons and tons of bass, or rock out full blast.
Obviously for loud music, one would not be looking at small speakers, or, if they were, they would look for super high quality small speakers which cost a lot more than these do. I use these for talk shows as well as some music, I am over 50, so, I have no problem with this set all. Much better than my old 2.1 set. And the on off switch and volume control are easy to use.

Cons: Not really any cons for me.

Other Thoughts: For those who like to complain about the small sub woofer in this set,
I can say, I told you so. Buy a separate big sub woofer if you love loud bass. This set is not intended to blast, it is a mid range set,
and will last years if not abused.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks ok with help

Pros: Ok they work but theres a trick to them.

Cons: sound at 0 no sound. sound at 25% faint sound at 50 % faint sound at 75% you bearly hear them.
sound at 85% you can now hear them anything beyond that its screaming.... I had to turn the sound almost all the way up on these speakers then adjust the sound in windows ....I don't know why they are like that probably why they where return in first place.

Other Thoughts: If you have this issue as I do just turn them up to about 85 % and adjust in windows is the only work a round on these refurbs I have found ... Tested them on 3 different systems.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: This is a great deal for these speakers. I got these speakers for $40. They sound good and come with a sub.

Cons: The sub arrived with damage but it looked like someone dropped it in shipping.

Other Thoughts: Feel bad for those who got broken ones but am happy for people who got ones that were not.
