Wrap yourself in sound with the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system. At the heart of the Z-5500 is a powerful subwoofer with a 10-inch ported driver that provides added excitement to action movies, bone-rattling bass to music, and greater realism to games. Each of the four satellites and the center-channel speaker feature a unique driver design that places a tweeter at the center of a larger mid-range driver. The result is a smooth combination of sounds with the fullness of a much larger speaker.

Also, if you're looking for cool pro-audio looks, the Z-5500 doesn't disappoint. Cloth grilles are removable and the pedestals rotate for easy wall mounting or desk placement. The center channel can be mounted on a wall, or above or below the monitor. Finally, the Digital SoundTouch Control Center puts command of the system at your fingertips. Digital LCD lets you select audio source, digital surround sound effect, adjust parameters of digital surround sound effects, adjust the volume levels of the individual speakers, mute the entire system, and of course, turn the set on and off. There's even an auxiliary input jack to conveniently connect other audio devices.

Distortion-Free Bass The new, ultra-large 10-inch long-throw subwoofer driver with a flared bass port delivers 188 watts of thunderous, distortion-free bass.
Digital SoundTouch Control Center The high tech Digital SoundTouch Control Center features a digital LCD screen, master volume control, enables input and output selection and more!
Wireless Remote Control A wireless remote control allows control of the Logitech Z-5450 from across the room, which is great for home theaters and video game applications.

Easy to setup in winxp to win7. Long color corded cables with Digital & analog connections. Various sound options with simple remote. Cons: Just the High's, it needs more to meet the bass & mid range. I hope a new version comes out with the same power or more* - and with more powerful clear High's! The surrounding noise is awesome. I can tell where enemies are nearby when I'm playing a game like BF3 or Black Ops 2. The durability of these suckers is stronger than the weapons made by the Greek forges. I swear on my life. I've had one speaker knocked over many times bouncing against the floors/wall. I recover it every time and there'd just be likea wire unplugged. I plug it back in and solid, it works. Honestly newegg should put these things back up for sale, as they are easily in the Tier 1 of best speakers ever made. I mean for anything too, not just video games. Movies, T.V shows, etc. all play out a Fluorescently clear, crisp, clean quality that'll never leave you wondering what they said. Please. Buy this. It will be one of the best purchases of your life. For some reason, I saw this set brand new at a different etailer at the time for only $200, which is why I purchased it. I've been using this set ever since, with numerous computers, and have never had a problem with them. They sound great with all my music, movies, and games, to this day! The subwoofer rattles my whole apartment, and I can turn up the volume pretty high. As such, I haven't had to replace this set! There may be newer/better speakers out there, but I'm satisfied with what I have, and I hope they last for a while longer. I'm sure they'll die someday, but hopefully not soon. Cons: Known popping noises, making listening unbearable and eventually non-existent due to the system shutting off entirely. Well documented design flaw regarding the control pod in many forums. Thankfully, you can still use the speaker system without the control pod. There is a custom cable that can be purchased on (eeee-bae) for $25. Basically a serial to RCA design. Other Thoughts: Loved them while they lasted with the control pod. Thankfully, still able to use them with the sub because of the custom cable purchased off (eeee-bae) for $25. Cons: the sound control box overheats after years of use and dies out. Cons: sparatic random volume changes once a month to once every other month... thats it! Other Thoughts: love my music so I have it hooked to my Vista computer with surround sound since my itunes has about 2000 songs on it. been in 3 different rooms and still has no sound damage! sounds great from 1 bar to my max of boost 5. I think its the control pod that gets confused with the volume knob and just randomly turns itself up quickly. has only happened while im sitting in front of it but thats not that big of a deal to me. They've taken years of abuse from myself and other DJ friends at full volume (without going into boost) for 9 hours at a time. I'm listening to them today still with absolutely no signs of wear or even the dreaded speaker "fart" noise at certain Hz. I have a soundproof basement... the sub still rattles the whole house. Cons: Mid's are a bit weak, however we knew this because you can't get mid's from smaller drivers or huge subs. Other Thoughts: It's a good starting point to work from when building an even better system.
