Wrap yourself in sound with the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system. At the heart of the Z-5500 is a powerful subwoofer with a 10-inch ported driver that provides added excitement to action movies, bone-rattling bass to music, and greater realism to games. Each of the four satellites and the center-channel speaker feature a unique driver design that places a tweeter at the center of a larger mid-range driver. The result is a smooth combination of sounds with the fullness of a much larger speaker.

Also, if you're looking for cool pro-audio looks, the Z-5500 doesn't disappoint. Cloth grilles are removable and the pedestals rotate for easy wall mounting or desk placement. The center channel can be mounted on a wall, or above or below the monitor. Finally, the Digital SoundTouch Control Center puts command of the system at your fingertips. Digital LCD lets you select audio source, digital surround sound effect, adjust parameters of digital surround sound effects, adjust the volume levels of the individual speakers, mute the entire system, and of course, turn the set on and off. There's even an auxiliary input jack to conveniently connect other audio devices.

Pros: Great sound quality.

Cons: It never lasted. It is a waste of good hard earned money. They don't last at all. It worked for 2 years and out of nowhere it begins to short out and sound became distortions.

Other Thoughts: Next time go with a name that is in the sound business. Not a manufacture of computer mouse & cameras trying to sell speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsI won't sell them!

Pros: I think I've had these since 2007. They are the best sounding things I have, so it's quite difficult for me to compare it to much, but even after listening to several other things in my life: friend's home theater systems, nice open headphones (AD700), expensive car speakers, concerts, I still come back to these.

Cons: They're not wireless, and therefore less portable.

Other Thoughts: I was planning to sell everything I have that doesn't fit in a backpack, but it seems this may stay, even with new portable home theatre bluetooth speakers around now.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working since 10/08

Pros: These are going strong after 6 years of daily use (mostly).

Cons: The back light on the information panel has died. I don't think it is LED. Not a big deal since these are setup via S/PDIF as DOLBY 5.1 and they have stayed this way for 6 years. I control volume and EQ from the PC.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Love them! after all these years of good use. Just hooked the up to my new Samsung TV and they sound great.

Cons: Discontinued

Other Thoughts: I hope I can get several more years from this system. I only paid $239.95 back in 2006.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This November will be 10 years of ownership and they're still going strong. For the $2/6/3.4/5 off Newegg in 2005, it was quite literally the surround sound deal of the century for me.

Cons: -Short length of cable to the control pod limits placement.
-Only 1 optical and 1 coax input

5 out of 5 eggsBest Of The BEST!!!

Pros: Wow what a sound! Better than anything out there. These speakers are the best thing ever been created by mankind. Fantastic sound! Love these!

Cons: They are no longer available... =((

Other Thoughts: I tried z906, had to send them back, not sure why Logitech made step backwards on them. Come on Logitech please create something better than this or similar.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing strong for 10 years

Pros: I purchased my set when it was first released in 2004. This amazing speaker set has survived high school, community college, regular college, abusive roommates, and now my wife and dog. They still sound new after TEN YEARS!

Cons: They're no longer sold :'(

5 out of 5 eggsSo happy. So so happy

Pros: I have had this system since 2009. It is amazing. The tuner is wonderful with the presets. I'm not going to get too technical but if you listen to music with alot of base this puppy has the subwoofer your looking for. The speakers are beautiful. This system shook my entire dorm complex. I literally made new friends just turning this system on haha.

Cons: If you play it too loud your RA will ask you to turn it down.

Listen responsibly

Other Thoughts: Couldn't have been happier. I got this in 2009 and it cost more than 100$ less. Says alot.

5 out of 5 eggsThey still rock as hard as Day One.

Pros: I got a set of these from Newegg around, say, almost six years ago. I do NOT play nice with them, and I have yet to manage to blow any of them out. If you can find these anywhere for purchase you're likely to be ripped off price-wise, as they've become something of a collector-curio item. They're worth it over any other Logitech speakers to date, among many other "good" brand of speakers..

Cons: The LED display's backlight on the control center went out a few years ago. I don't really mind. I've gotten used to it, and haven't bothered to replace it due to the problem being a common one. It would happen again, I'm sure. Still worth every penny.

Other Thoughts: If I were to 'upgrade' from this set, I would settle for no less than a 5.1 Klipsch set-up.

5 out of 5 eggsthe rave reviews are all true

Pros: sound quality; highs, mids,, those lows will rock the house
remote control
control center
quality materials

Cons: they aren't sold retail any more

Other Thoughts: These are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned, and Ive owned Cerwin Vega, Bose, JBL, Infiniti series, etc. These were a freakin steal when they were being sold. I had been looking for quite some time after a lot of research of current offerings, such as the Z906 model which, while decent, are apparently no match to the Z-5500. I found a pair about 100 miles from where I live for $200 in MINT condition off craigslist and drove all that way to pick them up. Gladly, I wasn't disappointed. I am gonna baby these speakers and make em last as long as possible. I am currently using digital optical out on my hackintosh Gigabyte board and the audio on movies through XBMC is truly magic to hear.
