Wrap yourself in sound with the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system. At the heart of the Z-5500 is a powerful subwoofer with a 10-inch ported driver that provides added excitement to action movies, bone-rattling bass to music, and greater realism to games. Each of the four satellites and the center-channel speaker feature a unique driver design that places a tweeter at the center of a larger mid-range driver. The result is a smooth combination of sounds with the fullness of a much larger speaker.

Also, if you're looking for cool pro-audio looks, the Z-5500 doesn't disappoint. Cloth grilles are removable and the pedestals rotate for easy wall mounting or desk placement. The center channel can be mounted on a wall, or above or below the monitor. Finally, the Digital SoundTouch Control Center puts command of the system at your fingertips. Digital LCD lets you select audio source, digital surround sound effect, adjust parameters of digital surround sound effects, adjust the volume levels of the individual speakers, mute the entire system, and of course, turn the set on and off. There's even an auxiliary input jack to conveniently connect other audio devices.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!

Pros: This earth shaking slamming 5.1 speaker system has been with me since 2007... I produce music so I am picky with sound and I STILL find these to be one of the best sounding 5.1 speakers I come across when comparing to what everybody else has in their homes... and this is 10 years later!! They've done an amazing job on these and I just wanted to say THANK YOU LOGITECH for making such an awesome system for me to blast all day long!

Cons: N/A

5 out of 5 eggsThese guys are pimping you for money!

Pros: I've owned a set of these since 2007 (still have them) and they rock! Never had a better set ... EVER.

Cons: None that I can think of other than the subwoofer weighs a TON! But that is why is has such deep rich sound.

Other Thoughts: I bought my set in 2007 for a little over $300! I've read other people's reviews that make this same comment which is why I'm making it as well. Although the set is exceptional ... it is NOT $1,000+ exceptional. Might as well get a real system at that price.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: sound great!

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I wish they still sold these. I first bought these a few years back, but I had to return them as my room was too small for all of that sound.

I was looking for set for my new house and see they are $1,700! What happened to these $400 max speakers.

Newegg needs to monitor these companies who are trying to rip us off.

WAKE UP NEWEGG!

5 out of 5 eggs10 Years Strong

Pros: Great sound, highly adaptable. I run on 2.1 with L and R averaged to center and copied to the rear most of the time, but switch on the fly to music mode and 5.1 on the DVD player. I've hooked this system up in my last six apartments, twice with a rear projector. Never had any problems with any of the system, though the chrome is wearing off the control nob. Affixed the speakers to custom shelves to aim to the center of the room. After 10 years of running this every day it is just like new. Sound quality is fine enough to highlight whispers or shake dust of the ceiling fan. Loud enough to get the cops called at max. Only once did I run it at maximum for an extended period of time, and the sub tripped the thermal protection shut off. Reset ten minutes later and runs like a top. Would highly recommend

Cons: Cable management in the rear is difficult, but only during setup.

Other Thoughts: Volume at 30% is loud enough to hear over the vacuum anywhere in the house

5 out of 5 eggslong lasting

Pros: I have had this set up over ten years I just replaced the speakers that came with the system with Kilspch speakers for the front speaker I got the klipsch synergy f30 tower speakers the s10 synergy surround speakers and the c10 center channel speaker sounds way better than the original speakers which were pretty good but no comparison to the kilspch's

Cons: no longer being made someone is selling them for $1700

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Brand, Amazing Speakers

Pros: I've had these speakers close to 10 years now. Being a major bass head these things have definitely seen their days of being cranked as far as they can possibly go, and beyond with the Volume Boost that goes beyond the max.

I've put these things through hell and back, and they still sound like they are brand new just out of the box.

Cons: Absolutely none.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I have had these probably 9 or 10 years and they are still phenomenal. They have always sounded great and loud when you want them too.

Now they sound even better and clearer (with my new build) using an HT Omega eClaro sound card.

One of the best and longest lasting purchases for my computer system that I have ever made.

Cons: None...

Other Thoughts: Not wireless, but not expected since they came out so long ago.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound quality.

Cons: It never lasted. It is a waste of good hard earned money. They don't last at all. It worked for 2 years and out of nowhere it begins to short out and sound became distortions.

Other Thoughts: Next time go with a name that is in the sound business. Not a manufacture of computer mouse & cameras trying to sell speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsI won't sell them!

Pros: I think I've had these since 2007. They are the best sounding things I have, so it's quite difficult for me to compare it to much, but even after listening to several other things in my life: friend's home theater systems, nice open headphones (AD700), expensive car speakers, concerts, I still come back to these.

Cons: They're not wireless, and therefore less portable.

Other Thoughts: I was planning to sell everything I have that doesn't fit in a backpack, but it seems this may stay, even with new portable home theatre bluetooth speakers around now.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working since 10/08

Pros: These are going strong after 6 years of daily use (mostly).

Cons: The back light on the information panel has died. I don't think it is LED. Not a big deal since these are setup via S/PDIF as DOLBY 5.1 and they have stayed this way for 6 years. I control volume and EQ from the PC.
