z-2300 - Impressed, not Stunned.
- Pros: Music: Punchy, clean, warm bass. Low crossover point for sub, making for no distortion. Very crisp highs and good-very good midrange. Movies: Voices sound like they are right there in the room with you. Rumbles are distortion free and vibrate the room (and beyond). Thx certification really comes through on movies.
Games: Will update.
- Cons: No Aux input. Headphone jack "sticky" No separate tweeter. Can't turn volume much past half without tuning with an EQ unless you want distortion leading to blown speakers, but don't get my wrong, it is still VERY loud when it is up half way. I wish the crossover point was a little higher so a little higher range bass came out of the sub. No treble adjustment on controller.
- Other Thoughts: For this price range, this is the best speaker I could find. I read about 7 hours worth of reviews in 4 days on speakers, and was looking at this model, the Creative-mx5021(discontinued) and the Kl!psh GMX and Pro 2.1 systems. After considering the known issues with the Kl!psh subwoofer problems, and the now high street price of the discontinued Creative, I was left with one choice. I am not dissappointed in my purchase, although I was VERY weary after reading about there being "no mids", which much to my satisfaction, is a complete lie. Overall, these speakers sound great. The things that I am unsatisfied with are quite minor, and if you want these for Movies or Games, these are the speakers for you. Musically, you would want the MX5021's. Although that model has less power and the sub is not as good, it is overall more crisp and clean than this set. This set is still very good for music though, as I am extremely picky about sound quality. 4.5 of 5 stars
Excellent Buy
- Pros: These speakers are truly amazing. The quality audio that these things put out is great. Before these I owned a set of Logitech Z-640's. That set was 5.1 with a 70 watt sub. I was kinda worried that I would miss the good old five speaker surround sound but these things have made me a changed man. These are much clearer at any volume or any frequency range than all other general use speakers I have heard. The sub is amazing and hits like a beast. I was so suprised when I gave them my little audio test mix. The sub stuck with my music all the way and never dropped off at any frequency. In fact, it shook the walls when i cranked it up... literally- it shook the walls. I am so impressed with these! I really can't say enough good things about them, and that's saying a lot coming from a guy who is an audiophile. Great buy- worth every penny!
- Cons: This isn't really a con... just a little setup tip for people. The subwoofer puts out a lot of air from the porting so make sure to keep that side away from anything that might shake and leave you with annoying rattling or vibrations.
- Other Thoughts: Man, I really can't say enough about these speakers. I use them for my Powerbook, iPod, and PS2... never been disappointed.

- Pros: satellites sounded like they had good potential, what little sound came from the sub sounded good.
- Cons: DOA!!! $50 to ship back to newegg. Bass knob didnt work and the sub put out almost no sound
- Other Thoughts: if i knew i was going to have to spend another $50 on shipping i probably would have just gone with the klipsch promedia 2.1 speakers.
Superb!
- Pros: Great sound. Music...games all sound great!
Was hard for me to justify spending that much on speakers but have had NO regrets!!
- Cons: None!
- Other Thoughts: I usually keep the volume as low as possible almost as to not anger my girlfriend (most girls seem like they hate sound) but they will blow you away f you turn them up without distortion.
I keep bass setting on half and they are about perfect (or turn it down as needed as i increase volume). Feels like people are in the room shooting my face off when I play first person shooters.
DJ Approved
- Pros: At first I thought that with the price the quality would suffer. This fear is totally unfounded. Under a woofer excursion test, my mouse danced across my desk and you could feel the tones, unlike some woofers of equal price that you can only hear. Sound is crisp, precise, and clean. The two mid-high speakers offer superior quality with impressive volume.
- Cons: I wish the woofer was more rectangular so I could use it as a monitor stand for my 30". That's really about it, other than that the headphone jack likes to hold on tight to whatever's plugged in.
