When you're looking for an affordable, high quality 2.1 sound system, Logitech has it. The X-230 system delivers 32W RMS of clean, clear sound. The glossy black satellite speaker housings add a touch of elegance to your desk.
The FDD2 (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology in the satellites produces a uniform sound field anywhere in the room. A ported, side-firing sub-woofer moves massive amounts of air for a powerful bass response.

Worth the money
- Pros: These speakers sound good for what they are; a budget set of 2.1 speakers. They sound better than any other 2.0/2.1 speaker system of it's price bracket. Subwoofer is rather strong for it's small size. Comes with special L/R split adapter to hook to consoles for better sound quality than built in TV speakers. Headphone jack on the right speaker works just like a normal stereo jack (volume not dependant on speaker dial setting).
- Cons: Subwoofer is too strong at high dial settings, as the cardboard inside starts to distort the sound. It sounds right at 25 percent. You can't turn it off and setting it to minimum makes the speakers sound 'tinny' or having too much treble. Cords are permanently connected between L and R speaker and don't go very far, with about 6 feet of play.
- Other Thoughts: They are intended to be used with a desktop. As long as you place the two satelites beside your monitor and the subwoofer below your desk (as intended) they will sound very good. Hearing the subwoofer directly is not pleasing to the ears. Keep speaker dial at 50% and subwoofer and 3rd notch (25%).
Absolutly mind blowing, despite the price!!!
- Pros: Extremely good power output, clearity throughout the volume, linear volume levels, VERY flat repsonse, very high output subwoofer, headphone jack conveinence, and slick design. And look at that price...
- Cons: Absolutly nothing.
- Other Thoughts: YEARS of audio work (car and home theater) and my ears are heavily trained to tell good from bad. When I read the reviews and looking for high end but cheap speakers, these won my attention and bought them. It only took me a few carefuly chosen songs to fall in love. The subwoofer is all the way down to match the fronts (I dont like a lot of bass, just a flat response) and no song can beat these speakers up! Put the sub in a corner of some sort, try and face the sub against a wall or somewhere flat for best output and low end.

Good for the Money
- Pros: Price; solid sound output; "long enough" connection cords; subwoofer support.
- Cons: Subwoofer can be pretty hefty even on lowest of settings.
- Other Thoughts: I like gaming but I have never been interested in investing hundreds of dollars in top sound hardware. As such, this Logitech package is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Haven't experienced any static in the output of sound/music like I did with my original Dell ones. And the Dell system didn't even include a subwoofer : )
too much low end
- Pros: This works fine for playing games and watching movies.
- Cons: This unit is all bass. The mids and highs are too artificial.
perfect for my dorm
- Pros: good sound for the money. perfect for my little dorm room or my bedroom at home. the headphone jack in the right speaker comes in handy a lot because i play a lot of shooters. nice bass.
- Cons: i wish the knob to control the bass was next to the volume knob on the right speaker.
- Other Thoughts: i am thinking about purchasing another one for my tv depending on how good the stock speakers sound (hasn't arrived from newegg yet). newegg shipped quickly as usual.
