Can I use this mic to record simple reading?

Yes. I used this microphone for gaming, and I constantly received compliments about this very cheap mic, and people were always surprised. Place about 6 inches from your face and speak normally. Highly recommend this microphone, the sound quality is way beyond what you pay for. It sounds as good or better than a lot of expensive gaming headsets. You could definitely use this for recording reading.

how do you connect this microphone?

Just plug it in to your PC's audio input. It should connect automatically. If not, update windows which should add the required drivers. Finally if that doesn't resolve it, then go to settings then system then sound and make sure the correct input device is selected from the drop down list.

Yes.....I have had this mic for well over a year now with minimal issues.....It is plug and play and should be compatable with windows 10

Its a decent mic for the price, but it will pick up the sounds from your speakers and may cause feedback. It would be good for skype, but I would recommend a headset for gaming, unless you use teamspeak and set a button for press to talk. Hope this is helpful

Nope. if your doing youtube videos I suggest investing in a better quality mic. This one works, but provides sub-par audio quality.

Yes you can; then you can slide it back in so the plastic doesn't break.

I know this is not a noise canceling mic but say if I was to close my door it wouldn't pick up any thing thats not in my room?

I use it for online gaming and it sits about 2 feet from a window air conditioning unit. I get complaints from people occasionally about the drone from the AC and if a train passes by in town the people online can hear it so I would guess that it will pick up unwanted background noise.

It's been a very good unit for me though and actually sits under my monitor pointing straight out and picks up my voice very well. If you're worried about background you may want to consider some form of directional mic
