3 out of 5 eggsNot a great product IMO.

Pros: Nice looking and decent sound

Cons: Not able to connect to audio output jacks or sound cards.
No software to adjust sound effects or quality.

Other Thoughts: This was my first purchase of a Bose product to replace my old Logitech speakers that lasted years. I was quite surprised that there is no way to connect these speakers to my audio output jacks or adjust the sound quality and effects with my computers software. Bose also does not offer any such software or connectors to accomplish this. I contacted Bose directly and they stated as much. Decent sound just not worth the money IMO.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound - Not user friendly

Pros: The sound is what you would expect from Bose. They are a 5.1 system with only 2 speakers because Bose designed surround sound into these 2 speakers. They are clear and I love the sound

Cons: They are incredibly user unfriendly. I have Windows 7 and Bose uses Windows drivers rather than creating their own. I have run into an issue where no sound will work on my computer after first starting up. And if I run anything that uses sound (game, iTunes, YouTube) the program freezes up and you have to force quit to get it to respond. Then you have to disconnect the power to the soudn module and the USB from the computer and wait 5 seconds to plug back in and get it to work again. Running into this 4-5 times a week is unacceptable from a high-end manfacture.

Using headphones with these is a circus at best. If I plug headphones either into the control module or the computer, I have to manually change the default sound device in Windows and then restart what ever application I am using for the sound to change over. So if you want to switch to headphones while playing a game or listing to music, you have to restart what you are doing. Plus the other port on the control module is NOT for a mic. You are suppose to be able to connect an iPod this way, but no microphone support - seems poorly designed.

If Bose had put forth the effort to make decent drivers this system would be a 6 egg, but with all the trouble it has was demoted to a 3

Other Thoughts: Bose designed an incredible set of speakers and then depended on Windows for drivers. Seems ridiculous to me that they would do this. But like I said the sound is the best I have ever had. I have been in a catch 22 when deciding if I want to return these or deal with the hassle for the great sound. By the way, unlike other reviews, with moderate to good ventilation I have had no issues at all with heat

5 out of 5 eggsPlug and play + awesome quality

Pros: This thing was so easy to set up and get rocking with my system it was ridiculous. If you want quality sound that is easy to manage this is the right fit.

Cons: None that I have noticed.

Other Thoughts: This def. ties together an awesome gaming build for full audio/visual stimuli.

1 out of 5 eggsoverheat, cheap china made components

Pros: They do sound good, not top, but good reproduction even with no onboard sound card in the computer.

Cons: Bottom end components, the amp is integrated into a very cheaply made board, that runs smoking hot, and only last a few months before overheating starts, I managed to pull the stock heat sink off only to discover that most of the really hot components are several mm from the heatsink anyways with a cheap thermal pad stretching the difference, ended up having to custom make my own heatsink and ventilation system just to keep these stupidly expensive things from cutting out every 2 hours or so

Other Thoughts: epic waste of money

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Sounds Poor Longevity

Pros: Great Sounds

Cons: It just died after a year half use. No sound but the headphone input still works.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the money, my old Logitech still works like new.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelieveable Sound

Pros: Bought a set used for less than 1/2 of retail. Almost new - slightly used. The sound reproduction is incredible. The material used in the construction is pure quality. An incredibly well thought out product and design. As beautiful to the eyes as to the ears. I will never regret taking the gamble of buying these speakers!!! This is how music should sound!!!

Cons: Any bad reviews for this product are completely unfounded. I am not a paid spokesperson, only a converted follower to Bose.

Other Thoughts: Bought for an "in-progress" build. A highly modified Bitfenix Prodigy case, ASRock miniITX motherboard with MSATA boot drive, 250gb ssd for programs, (2) 1tb WD for storage, Six Eyes Temp/Fan controller, EVGA 650 1gb compact video card, Cooler Master CPU cooler (forgot the model), and a huge Ultra 4 850 watt modular power supply. Still in evolution.

5 out of 5 eggsI like them!

Pros: The sound quality is rich. I use these to stream music across my network to my machine from my NAS and then mainly to play video games. I had a Boston Accoustics 5.1 setup forever until my dog chewed the powercord as a pup. I wanted a small form factor and less wires to deal with. These match and in some cases surpass those in both the sound quality as well as space constraints and simplicity.

Cons: Win 7 64bit was a bit finicky at first with the connection but I attribute that to it being Windows. No slam there....just software bugs

Of course the price but then again its a Bose product

Other Thoughts: I don't really call the price a con because I chose to spend my money there. Given that the American economy is nothing but buyers of other countries products its good to know that my money will be used on an American entity. I have always been a fan of Bose products ever since I purchase my Accoustamass 15 for my house back in 2001. They are still going strong and the sound is still just as good today as it was then.... Can't beat that...

Get'll be happy you did....

5 out of 5 eggsTwo years later, still awesome speakers

Pros: Two and a half years later and these are still the best computer speakers I've ever heard. When playing Amnesia, you can hear things creeping up behind you and you turn around and nothing's there. It came from the speaker in FRONT of you. Amazing. Handles loud volumes and music just as well.

Cons: Had to move the speaker a little further from the monitor, i think the magnet was affecting it.

Other Thoughts: Would gladly buy this speaker system again.

5 out of 5 eggs2nd purchased - great product

Pros: amazing sound that Bose is known for: only 400$ very easy setup. Easy platform allows two small speakers on desk and woofer to sit on floor or lower than desk level. Can't think of a better sound system / and have tried several: this is top of line desktop PC or HDMI monitor sound

Cons: no cons

Other Thoughts: worth the money- don't forget sound (assuming not using headphones) when making your PC purchase
