Excellent Scanner! Worth the research time I spent on it!
- Pros: Very fast (as compared to flatbeds, in all honesty!)
Software package enhances the hardware performance
- Cons: Scanning of image into image formats. But this is not a big deal. I never really liked scanning images , in any case.
- Other Thoughts: I must have researched & read about this scanner for over a month. Apart from the price, I was not getting any sort of 'negative' feedback which made me turn away from the ScanSnap s510.
The first surprising thing, as it comes out of the box, is the small size. It looks great sitting on the desk and it hardly takes up space. I like the in-built switch. Close the flap, switch off the machine. Open the flap, switch it on.
Install was quick.
BE SURE TO CONNECT THE SCANNER TO YOUR COMPUTER WITH THE USB CABLE ++++ONLY AFTER++++ A COMPLETE INSTALL AND A REBOOT. DONT BE IMPATIENT!
Scanning is a cinch. Destination of scanned doc can be pre-setup. 2-sided or 1-sided scanning. File naming choices. I would have liked a user-choice in the naming. But not a big deal.
All in all, this is one of the 'should have' tools of any home/homeoffice setup. This was bought to become my integral tool for a paperless / digital office. And I am well on my way!

Excellent scanner. VERY FAST
- Pros: Very very fast in color, even faster in B/W; duplex
- Cons: PC only; must buy Mac version to use on Mac.
- Other Thoughts: This is my first dedicated sheetfed scanner. Used flatbeds, but they are slow! This on can burn through all the document I need to scan quickly and efficiently. Include full version of Acrobat Standard.

Great scanner - but...
- Pros: Great scanner! Does exactly what it says it will do. Has saved us a lot of time. Great hardware!
- Cons: Really only does pdf documents without a hassle. You can do a bitmap, but you have to be creative. In any case most docs are stored as pdf files anyway. Don't have a hard dive crash, Adobe will give you fits about re-installing your software...they try to make you buy it again!
- Other Thoughts: Purchased 2 of these scanners. Both had $50. rebates from Fujitsu, but just like a hard drive purchased 2 years ago, Fujitsu never paid the rebates. So if you are looking for a good scanner this might be it, but the rebates probably will never come, so if they advertise one, don't count on ever getting that check.
