Fujitsu FI-6140 PA03540-B005 24 bit CCD 600 dpi Duplex Scanner

  • 24 bit CCD
  • 600 dpi
ICON Loading...

Scan like there's no tomorrow with Fujitsu's FI-6140 document scanner. This high speed unit can handle 60ppm/120ipm in monochrome and grayscale modes. It barely slows down for color zipping through 40ppm/80ipm. It is a good thing that there is an automatic document feeder or even the fastest hands in the west wouldn't be able to keep up.

The scanner has multiple technologies to ensure consistent, quality scans. Paper Protection detects when a jam is about to happen and stops scanning so documents don't get torn. The Intelligent MultiFeed function ignores photos or sticky notes so there aren't "false positives" about multiple sheets.

You can connect the scanner to your system with either an Ultra SCSI or USB 2.0 cable. Once there you can use the full versions of Kofax VRS Professional or Adobe Acrobat Standard to manipulate and save the document.

  • newegg Performance The Fujitsu fi-6140 features a high scan rate of up to 40ppm in color and 60ppm in monochrome and ultrasonic double feed detection for super-fast, accurate scanning.
  • newegg Duplex Scanning With two image sensors, the Fujitsu FI-6140 scanner scans both sides of a document at a time for doubled efficiency.
  • newegg Automatic Document Feeder The Fujitsu FI-6140 scanner features a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) that continuously sends documents for scanning without any manipulation during the process.
  • newegg USB 2.0 and Ultra SCSI Interfaces The Fujitsu FI-6140 features USB 2.0 and Ultra SCSI interfaces for high-speed data transfer and expanded compaibility.

1 out of 5 eggsDont waste your money

Pros: Fits on desk nicely since scanner is small and also very user friendly.

Cons: I use this everyday at work and hate it. It constantly jams or scans multiple sheets together (piggey back). Also the driver software frequently gets an "abnormal error" causing scan job to freeze up.

Other Thoughts: We have 2 of these and get the same problems on both and shared opinion by fellow employees.

5 out of 5 eggsTHE BEST SCANNER

Pros: This is, simply, the best scanner!

Sure, you could pay a lot more for a "slightly faster" scanner; but, for this price range, nothing else even comes close! I have purchased, and used, five scanners in the past couple of years (I went to a paperless office about two years ago). I was very disappointed in some of the scanners; others, worked fairly well (I thought). Since using this scanner, it puts all of the other scanners in the dust! If you are using a scanner on a daily basis -- in other words, you are doing some serious scanning, then this is the scanner for you!

It's like searching the internet used to be -- you'd select a page, and then read a book while the page was downloading; now (with DSL, etc.), you select a page and, almost instantly, the page is on your screen! With my old scanners, I would place 30 pages in the document feeder, push go, and go get a snack. With this Fujitsu, I push go and in about 30 seconds, I'm done! No more "waiting" for the scanner!

Cons: It does not have a platen (the flat piece of glass) -- if you want that, see the Fujitsu 6240. I didn't purchase the 6240 because I didn't want it taking up the extra space on my credenza. Since I have other scanners in my office (which have a platen), I can use those when I need to scan a bound document.

Other Thoughts: I waited for a long time to purchase this scanner due to the price (the other scanners I had been using were in the $200 - $500 range); I should have purchased this one much sooner!

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Fast, Fast!

Pros: Is it fast? The lower-end models (FI-5110C) are like Model T's next to this Mustang! Works great with our Electronic Medical Records and Adobe Capture 3 and ImpactMD. ISIS drivers are a must for our clinic, and these have them. Have not had a paper jam yet, and the two users that have them scan full 50 page loads at a time some days. Duplex was a big selling point since our old, *expensive* scanner ($4,000 mark) did not do duplexing.

Cons: Pretty much the same as any other FI- series scanner. Sooner or later the rubber pads and roller is going to fail, though these are a lot beefier than the cheaper scanner's, so maybe not for a while.

Other Thoughts: Have not had any issues what so ever. Works just like the other FI- model scanners we own. And Once you use this one, scanning on old scanner is just plain a chore!
