5 out of 5 eggsGreat Scanner

Pros: I have two Documate 515, and one 510. Great scanner, they have seen very heavy duty, in busy doctor office (paperless). No issues

Cons: I dont install the offered software, be sure to download driver from website, CD never worked.

Other Thoughts: I don't like the offered paperport software, I scan directly into Adobe Pro.

3 out of 5 eggsUse a short usb cable.

Pros: Auto feed. Touch button. Software included.

Cons: Useless if you try to use a usb cable over 4ft. For some awful reason I went over a year continually getting frustrated with the machine. It wasn't until I finally pulled my head out and read a review naming the problem: longer than 4ft cable. Terrible setup instructions, that little fact should have been included in BOLD.

Other Thoughts: So far it has been operating fine for a few months. I really wish I would have gone with a mfc all in one but I guess I'll just live with another space taken up, now that it works.

5 out of 5 eggsRepeat Xerox scanner buyer

Pros: The scanner works so well I bought a second one, in part to get another license for the OCR software bundled with it, but also for use as a scanner.

Cons: It does not like dirty photocopies with loose toner on them. Easier to wipe the pages than wipe the sheetfeed works. The reflective scan makes me position stuff just so, with more effort than the usual flatbed.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these a year apart, so clearly I think this is the best scanner out there for the money, and I have been through many scanners in 20 years.

2 out of 5 eggspretty terrible

Pros: When it works it is pretty fast. Spent a while looking for flatbed scanners with an ADF. The price was right for this one

Cons: Basically couldn't get this to work with Windows 7. Luckily, I have an XP machine lying around which rescued this from being an epic fail. Used the scanwiz software that folks have been talking about. It's a lifesaver. I couldn't get any of the bundled software to do anything terribly useful.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It came with OCR software which works quite well.

Cons: The automatic document feeder is terrible and most documents scan fairly crooked. The scanning quality is much lower than other scanners I own.

4 out of 5 eggsNot for those with OCD

Pros: Scanner works as expected. No surprises.

Cons: This scanner is not for those with OCD. The blue light on the front panel flashes constantly when the scanner is in standby mode. Very distracting. Had to put black electrical tape over the indicator to block the constant flashing.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible - stay away!

Pros: None, now that I've had a go at it.

Cons: It doesn't work FULLY with Windows 7. I know not to plug it in before installing the drivers. Check. But even after it was successfully installed, it would freeze on EVERY scan. Blue light would turn to orange. Wait as long as 10 minutes, no response. Can't cancel the software, unplugging it does nothing. Have to reboot PC and power down unit just to get them talking again.

And YES, I used the software off of the website, NOT the disc.

And YES, I tried other scanning software. Same thing.

AND, the darn thing would just randomly begin scanning. For no reason. No paper in the ADF, nobody pushed any buttons, software wasn't even RUNNING. WHRRRRRR - scanning away....

Other Thoughts: I was excited to put this much money into a nice scanner. Very disappointed in Xerox at this point.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful Scanner!!!

Pros: This scanner does it all. I love the software that you can delete a page in the middle of a ten page PDF file and then save it, great feature. I've used a Scansnap 1300 and papers always get stuck and sometimes reads both sides when nothing is there. You will not mind giving up the space once you know what it can do! I like having the flatbed since not all papers are perfect.

Cons: Lamp takes 45 sec at time to warm up if at idle for a while. Takes up some space but worth giving up after using it.

Other Thoughts: Great scanner for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD SCANNER

Pros: Pretty reliable for High Speed scanning.
11 PPM at 300 DPI resolution.
It jammed a couple of times on 500 pages but was easy to clear and continue.
Very easy to set up.

Cons: Junk software disc would not even run on my computer
Xerox sent me a second disc that didn't work either
Luckily I was able do d/l the drivers from Xerox

Other Thoughts: I finally downloaded ScanWiz 30 day trial and was able to do all my project within the 30 days. I will probably buy ScanWiz. It is a really good program for high speed scanning. You can move pages around if you make a mistake and delete pages before you save it to pdf.

I scanned over 500 pages into 2 large files and spent about 2 hours total checking, editing and saving. Very easy job with ScanWiz. I don't know about the software that was supposed to come with it.
