5 out of 5 eggsAdditional Info

Pros: I forgot to mention Windows 7 will install a driver for this card. Do not use the software provided on the cd-rom.
I have used it on a mac pro and wintel laptop running win 7 with no problems

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for using a second HDV camera

Pros: Works well in a 34 slot but I suggest using gaffers tape to keep it seated.
Can be used for external firewire devices when your primary port is in use.
I am using it for webcasting where 2 camera angles are needed. Cameras connected via firewire can not share the same firewire bus.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: You can use it in 54 slot but... more gaffers tape will be needed :-)

3 out of 5 eggsNot for Vista

Pros: Looks like it might be a fast 800 card, but I wouldn't know.

Cons: They say they have Vista drivers when in fact they are unsigned XP drivers which in my system caused severe blue screens and system hangs. Look for something else if you are running Vista.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performer, but a little BULKLY

Pros: Easy install. Handles Firewire transfers so well from external drives that you would swear the drives were internal. Hasn't crashed or slowed down with huge (over 5GB) files being transfered and accessed.

Cons: It is a little on the bulky side. Basically, it sticks out 2 inches from the side of your laptop. Add a Firewire 800 cable to it and it's an extra 1.5 inches. 3.5 inches doesn't seem so bad, but if you use a mouse instead of the touchpad, the card does get in the way a little.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to attach a 3 TB Firewire RAID to my laptop. Primarily my laptop is a portable workstation for 3D animation and editing work.

My System is a Dell M90
2.33 Dualcore
4GB 667mhz DDR2
100GB 7200 SATA
Quadro 3500 workstation card with 512 MB
