Question 1

Two questions:
1. Is this compatible with Windows 7?
2. Is this for a PC slot and NOT a PCExpress slot.

Hi John,

This is an older style PC Card, also known as a PCMCIA Type 1 card. The instruction manual says that it will work with Windows 7. I don't have a Windows 7 machine with the older PC Card slot, so I can't try it out. It works well with Windows 2000.

I don't see why it wouldn't work with Windows 7. It uses a  VIA VT6212 chipset, otherwise known as Texas Instruments PCI-1220 Cardbus Controller.

You're really running Windows 95?  That's awesome to hear that somebody out there still getting use out of Windows 95!
I don't know the answer, it works fine with Windows 7 but may not work with external hard drives, I saw in a forum somewhere that it has that limitation.  It works fine with flash drives, mouse & keyboard.  The Windows 95 question, I would check with StarTech's website chat help.  Mine came with a driver disk that was not needed with Windows7.  The readme file on the disk said the drivers work with
Windows98
Windows98 Second Edition
Windows Millennium
Windows 2000
Windows XP SP1
But it does in fact work with Windows7 even though it's not listed so I would check with chat help at Startech's website about that Windows95 question.

I asked a question previously but do not know how to access the answer, so I will ask again hoping an answer comes back quickly.

Wanting to download mini DV camcorder videos onto a Dell Inspiron 600m using the 2" card bus slot. I have the 4 to 6 pin firewire. Will this Startech CBUSB22, work for that? I bought a 1394a  but it was too skinny for the Dell 2" port. thank You- Bobbi Norman

This CardBus card is specifically designed to be used with a USB2.0 cable.  It works very well on my sister-in-law's Dell Inspiron (I think it's an 800 or 1000), but she uses it to connect to her peripherals with a USB cable.  Your Firewire is incompatible for a direct connection, but someone may make a converter that I am unaware of.  Also, I'm not that familiar with the CardBus interface so I can't comment on whether or not it would fit your Dell, but the main stumbling block is the Firewire connection.

Is this card compatible with my IBM ThikkPad T30 (type 2366) ?????

If your IBM has a standard card slot it will probably work. I installed one in a Gateway Tablet from 2002 and it performs just fine. It is not USB 3.0, but it handles 2.0 speeds like a champ
