PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Power problems—including blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise—threaten your investment! Advanced Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects low-voltage conditions (brownouts) and overvoltages back to safe 120V power without draining the UPS battery. Plus, the OMNIVS1500XL comes with $200,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance coverage for connected equipment and a 3-year product warranty.

Featuring reliable, expandable battery backup, advanced Automatic Voltage Regulation, surge suppression, line noise filtering, USB communication port and tel/Ethernet line protection, the OMNIVS1500XL offers a complete power protection solution for PCs, peripherals and all home and office electronics. The OMNIVS1500XL features a split-outlet design with eight total AC outlets: six to provide battery backup support and surge protection for computers, monitors and other critical components; two to provide surge protection only for peripherals such as printers and scanners that do not need battery backup.

Reliable, Expandable Battery Backup

UPS battery backup support enables you to work through short power failures, and provides time to save files and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The OMNIVS1500XL features a large internal battery that provides 4.5 min. of battery support for a full load (940 watts), 13 min. for a half-load (470 watts) or 75 min. for a single PC. During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available if needed. Runtime may be expanded by connecting optional external battery packs, sold separately. (Compatible Tripp Lite external battery packs: BP24V15RT2U, BP24V48-2U, BP24V70-3U.)

Advanced Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

AVR protects your equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems that can be caused by low-voltage conditions, commonly known as brownouts. The OMNIVS1500XL can correct brownouts as low as 75V and overvoltages as high as 147V back to 120V without drawing on battery backup power that may be needed to support your equipment during a blackout.

AC Line and Tel/Ethernet Surge Suppression

A sudden power surge or spike on an AC, phone or network line can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The OMNIVS1500XL features a 480-joule surge suppression rating to protect connected components and data from the harmful effects of power surges. One set of tel/Ethernet (RJ45) jacks provides surge protection for a standard phone or network connection.

EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering

Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The OMNIVS1500XL incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment.

USB Port and Free PowerAlert Software

The OMNIVS1500XL features a USB port (cable included) that works with Tripp Lite's free PowerAlert software (available from Tripp Lite as a Web download) to enable safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in the event of a prolonged power failure.

Small-Footprint Tower Housing

The OMNIVS1500XL features a compact vertical (tower) form factor that fits easily on a desktop or under a workstation. Plus, its 6-ft. power cord reaches distant outlets.

Excellent run time can be extended to hours with external battery packs, unusual in this price class. Powers most all computer and AV devices, unlike some of the newfangled competition. Cons: Fan is loud when USP is on battery power, but quiet when on AC, overall acceptable. Very limited display with no power level indication until batteries are very low. Software is flaky (see other thoughts). Other Thoughts: The BP24V15RT2U is highly recommended for higher lods. It increases watt-hour capacity to 3x and run time 3-4x or more depending on load. This unit with the external BP has replaced two 1300VA UPS and has longer run time. :) PowerAlert software has limited features and communication is unreliable on several computers, hence only 4 stars (would be 5 otherwise). Other Thoughts: Customer support is excellent. The unit failed, and I called Tripp Lite support. After a few minutes of troubleshooting, they sent out a replacement unit.
