Power problems including blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise interference threaten your investment! They can damage or destroy PCs and other expensive equipment, wipe out valuable data and files, and degrade component performance. Get protected against these all-too-common power threats with Tripp Lite's AVR900U UPS System. It provides reliable battery backup that can keep entry-level PC systems operational for up to 45 minutes during blackouts. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects low-voltage conditions (brownouts) and overvoltages back to safe 120V power without draining the UPS battery. Surge suppression and EMI/RFI line noise filtering prevent hardware damage and performance problems such as poor-quality audio and video output. The AVR900U'S 900VA/480-watt power rating provides ample capacity for a wide range of home and office PC setups, workstations, point-of-sale systems and more. It features six battery-supported AC outlets for computer, monitor and other vital system peripherals, plus six surge suppression-only outlets for accessories not requiring battery support. One set of RJ11 jacks protects connected equipment on a tel/DSL line. One USB communication port plus free PowerAlert software (available via Web download) enables unattended system shutdown and file saves in case of a prolonged power failure. The AVR900U comes with $100,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance coverage for connected equipment (USA/Canada only) and a 3-year product warranty.

Ideal for Protection of Home or Office PCs and Peripherals

With reliable battery backup, Automatic Voltage Regulation, tel/modem jacks and an HID-compliant USB port, the AVR900U offers a complete power protection solution for a wide range of home and office electronics. AVR900U Feature Focus

Reliable Battery Backup

UPS battery backup support enables you to work through short power failures, and provides time to save files and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The AVR900U features an internal battery that provides 2.5 min. of battery support for a full load (480 watts), 10 min. for a half-load (240 watts) or 45 min. for a single PC. During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available if needed.

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

AVR protects your equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems that can be caused by low-voltage conditions, commonly known as brownouts. The AVR900U can correct brownouts as low as 83V and overvoltages as high as 147V back to 120V without drawing on battery backup power that may be needed to support your equipment during a blackout.

Surge Suppression

A sudden power surge or spike can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The AVR900U features a 420-joule surge suppression rating to protect all connected components and the data they contain.

EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering

Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The AVR900U incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment.

Signal Line Protection

The AVR900U includes one set of tel/DSL (RJ11) jacks (cable included) to protect a standard dialup/DSL phone connection. A built-in splitter protects two devices sharing the same line.

USB Port and Free PowerAlert Software

The AVR900U features an HID-compliant USB port (USB cable included). Used with Tripp Lite's free PowerAlert software (available from Tripp Lite as a Web download), this USB port enables safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in the event of a prolonged power failure. The USB port also enables integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows® and Mac OS® X.

Versatile Installation Options

The compact AVR900U features a space-saving, ultra-compact housing that fits on a desktop, a shelf or almost anywhere. Its 6-ft. power cord features a space-saving right-angle plug that allows furniture to be placed flush against the wall. The AVR900U's housing is equipped with integrated keyhole mounting flanges for secure wall-mount installation.

Environmentally Responsible

The AVR900U is manufactured in compliance with strict RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) guidelines to minimize the use of hazardous materials, and its replaceable internal battery is 100% recyclable.

Ultimate Peace of Mind

The AVR900U comes with $100,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance coverage for connected equipment (USA/Canada only) and a 3-year product warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsworthless

Pros: We bought six of these units for our office. All of them have had the same issue within a month. Really can't say there are any pros since the product doesn't really do what it's built to do.

Cons: The big issue is that almost every time we had a power flicker or outage the switch beeps fails and turns itself off offering no battery back up for your devices. We contacted the manufacturer and they denied any fault difficult to work with.

Other Thoughts: The few that we didn't throw out now serve as power strips for non essential equipment. Waste of money keep looking there are better UPC's out there.

Manufacturer Response:

Based on your comments, there could be several factors that could contribute to this type of UPS behavior such as the unit has been overloaded, there is a different type of power source required for the connected equipment, the connected equipment may require a pure sine wave or the UPS battery might be at a low capacity and requires replacement. We would like another chance to assist you further to resolve the issue. Please email with the preferred way to contact you and the best time of day to reach you. Thank you.

3 out of 5 eggsNewEgg/TrippLite won't pay for shipping on DOA

Pros: Decent price, decent UPS

Cons: TrippLite ships a lot of defective UPS's overall, and makes you pay for the (very high) shipping costs to replace them. NewEgg now does this with all their products. NewEgg should not be selling products from manufacturers who won't stand behind them.

4 out of 5 eggsMy experience

Pros: This UPS can connect to a single computer via USB. During a power outage the battery can notify the computer when its battery is low so the OS can begin a proper shutdown. This is good feature in the event there is nobody around when the power goes out.

Cons: This thing is supposed to avoid sudden power disconnects. If the USB is connected and your OS is not communicating with it, the circuit breaker will trip all ports including the battery powered ones. I found this out while I was in my BIOS screen. So if you do not have Windows already running, do not leave the USB cord connected to it.

The second issue is that it came with no software. I had to go directly to the manufacturer site to find it. Once I was there, I found more than one choice and quickly became confused as to which one to download. I guess I got lucky because it runs properly.
