5 out of 5 eggswow

Pros: i have 4 of these. i needed one more for my new NAS. the unit showed up dead. i called trip lite and we did some trouble shooting. I pulled batteries from another unit and put them in the new and it worked. the new unit batteries were dead. they are shipping me new ones. they work better than my APC units.

Cons: none really, batteries do go bad and im sure it was the heat that did them in.

Other Thoughts: I really like tripp lite. i feel you get more product for less. APC prices are stupid high for a unit rated lower than this one. also i was told by APC when i called to buy batteries that i needed to replace the whole unit because it was older than 3 years. that did not sit well with me. so i have to replace the whole unit every 3 years? I am replacing all my APC units with these bigger and better unit for less than a new APC unit would cost me.

4 out of 5 eggsOK, but not great

Pros: Appears to handle loads well. Have yet to see "momentary" outages disrupt devices connected to the unit. Output percentage is interesting to see when used for A/V equipment.

Cons: Blue LCD display is excessively bright. If you are going to use this in any location where you don't want a "homing beacon" - you'll need to do something to reduce the display's output. Would like to see the display dim/turn off unless there is something that requires attention.

Other Thoughts: Have not experienced what previous posters commented on. Purchased two units (at the same time) and have not had any issue with either unit (except display intensity). Perhaps "newer" version?

3 out of 5 eggsOk Product, Support sucks!

Pros: Worked well when I got it, putting out 600w average to my server and raid array. Kept up for a couple power outages in the first month. This was used at home during winter storms.

Cons: After a couple months we had an outage and the equipment went down. Tested the unit and it said the battery was bad. I contacted support and got the runaround for four days. They asked a lot of questions and in the end said it was probably my equipment! Eventually I was able to get them to RMA the device but instead of sending a new one out and me mailing back the broken one. I have to sent it in and wait for a new one. Would not buy from this company again just based on their support.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that our warranty return process did not meet your expectations. Part of our return process is for Tripp Lite’s technical support team to diagnosis the cause of failure and to rule out if the cause of the problem is environmental or a mechanical failure with the UPS. This is done to assure we have diagnosed the issue correctly and to avoid future failures. You can always contact our technical support team directly via phone at 773-869-1234 and may find speaking to a live person will help to expedite the replacement process. We value your feedback regarding our warranty policy and will be sure to pass it onto our product support management team.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems to work fine

Pros: -Can run my computer for about an hour, and that's while playing games
-Fan doesn't run when incoming power is OK (although I would like to have it run when charging)
-Charges quickly (for a UPS, anyway)

Cons: It says it's compatible with Linux, and is a standard HID UPS. However, while it does show up as a "TRIPP LITE UPS", I cannot monitor it like I could with my old APC.

Other Thoughts: I've never seen the AVR come on, because the power is too stable here. In fact, the only time it's had to do anything was when my heater malfunctioned and tripped the breaker.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to use

Pros: This is the first UPS I bought in response to having an apartment with SERIOUS power issues. The LCD gives you a good idea of whether or not you have a power issue generally, and using it is as easy as pressing a button. I finally broke down and bought one after a second power cut fried an SSD. Since then I've moved into a better apartment, but the UPS still saved my computer from at least ~10 short power outages per week for four months straight. I haven't really had the unfortunate circumstances to give it that sort of testing since I moved, but straight out of the box it was a VERY solid product.

Cons: It's heavy and bulky, and you need to give serious consideration to where you're going to put it in your set up, but this is a disadvantage of UPS's generally.

4 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT, not the price

Pros: monitor and computer together, moderate use...This thing says it will last 1 hour of power...LOVE IT
now to add router and modem..

LOTS of plugs in back..POWER controlled and NOT controlled

Is a bit STUPID..look at configs, there are 2 in it.
It places my machine in hibernation, I DONT DO THAT..but can be changed in windows..
ALL I wanted was POWER monitor showing input and out of power, LOG file and What to do AT certain power levels.

Other Thoughts: I WISH,
someone would make an device for a Standard CAR battery. Even 2..
Pop it on and would be great..
ALSO wish these folks made computer pOWER supplies.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value UPS

Pros: Very quiet.
Does the job that my old APC SMART UPS 2200 did.
Nice clear LCD screen in the front that clearly represents information.
USB enabled.
Energy efficient.

Cons: These aren't really cons, but:
Not rack mountable.
Only five surge and battery protected outlets.
Only 900W

Other Thoughts: I needed to buy replacement batteries for my old APC SMART UPS 2200, but the batteries ended up costing $250 each. I purchased this thing instead for almost half the cost of those replacement batteries. Downside is that I went from 1900W to 900W, but it seems to be fine. I have one server, 3 24 port switches, a monitor, a router, and a modem on this and it shows that it's at just about 1/4 load. The LCD screen in the front is much more convenient versus just having some indicator lights. This thing is A LOT smaller than I had expected and much much smaller than my old UPS. It is very quiet, in my opinion, but then again it's housed in a server closet so I can't really tell if its loud or not because of all the buzzing that is already in there. Definitely can't hear this over that, though. There are only 5 battery protected outlets. I wish there were more. The other 5 are only surge protected. It is not rack mountable, but I already knew that and wasn't really looking for that anyway. It's just incredible how small this thing is. Also not that heavy, compared to other UPS's.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Thrilled

Pros: I find this the perfect UPS for its application in our office. We needed to account for small power "hiccups" that occur regularly in our building. In doing so, our team can now avoid the tedious process of restarting the modem, routers & switches every Monday morning. I would say this was a successful implementation.

Cons: Haven't found one yet. Not fond of the beeping when the power goes out, but that isn't often enough to complain about.

Other Thoughts: I have one router, three switches, 5 Vonage boxes and two servers plugged into this UPS. It barely measures having a load attached. So far, our power hasn't gone off long enough to surpass its energy supply. I'm very impressed.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good...

Pros: I use Tripp Lite enterprise grade SmartUPS's at work, and have never gone wrong with them. I purchased two of the 1500VA Smart1500LCDT's for home use (one for me, and one for my wife). I've only had them plugged in a couple days now.

*Battery life status indicator on Windows desktops.
*LCD battery status indicator.
*LCD load indicator
*LCD Voltage output indicator
*Has a mute button to turn alarm off

So far so good... No complaints yet.

Cons: I was hesitant purchasing these after reading the two reviews indicating that these units were noisy. I have not heard any noise from these whatsoever. Maybe time will tell, but they seem to be pretty quiet out of the box.

Other Thoughts: One of the units looked to be opened (RMA'ed). One had 100% battery life, and the other was charging from 88%. Not too concerned as long as both are working.

1 out of 5 eggsPOSition

Pros: With my computer up and running, I pulled the plug and tested the battery, it lasted 30 mins, screen said it could hold it for 3 more. Fairly decent considering I got a full tower, 2 monitors, and speakers on it.

Cons: If there is one blip in the power it shuts off on me. If I unplug it, its fine, it stays up. I get a summer shower and a few blips in the electric, were talking less than a second of power flux, and its down.

Maybe this on is faulty, but either way its annoying.

Other Thoughts: I wish it was so darn noisy with the fan, also wish the off button turned off everything, not just the stuff on the battery.
