5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: works as advertised. looks good and the display is easy to read without blinding you at knight.

Cons: hard to understand the interface.

Other Thoughts: I have dirty power where I live and that's when I have power . I have gone through several MOBO s because of it. This should solve my problems. Since I got this unit I have seen my Voltage go from 114 to as high as 122 . Lad I got the AVR .

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: We have purchased 3 of these for use with individual servers and workstations, the first over a year ago. All are solid with no major issues; a good value.

The LCD display is great. I use the load percentages to calculate up-time in power outage.
Our office has frequent spikes, surges, sags, and blinks. The UPS's have done what they were supposed to. We have had no power issues since installing.

The run time is very good. They have outperformed their ratings.

Cons: We only tried the software with the first unit a year ago, but it was totally useless when we did. The UPS worked great stand-alone. But when we attached it to the computer for automatic shut-down and alerts on power outage, it would interrupt power to all attached units every time it did self-tests, defeating the purpose of a UPS! Annoying, but not worth losing an egg.

Other Thoughts: The 650 joule surge suppression is good but not stellar. It is in line with comparable UPS's from other manufacturers. I couple the installation with a good quality surge suppressor.

1 out of 5 eggsscary

Pros: plenty of power, fancy features

Cons: VERY unstable, it shutdown or restart randomly, it hurts my high end workstation TWICE

Other Thoughts: there must be something wrong with the design or stability of the control circuit.
Good looking products but it lacks the purpose of this device. It is designed to protect my computer , not to KILL my computers

3 out of 5 eggsNot Totally Sure Yet

Pros: Perfect size for what I need. Two higher-end PCs, three monitors, one television and a satellite receiver will (should) run through my normal outages. We get a lot of 1-5 minute outages over the summer months and this will do the job.

Cons: So far, after owning this for one day, the fan died. It started out whining, then wobbling, then stopping & starting. When I tested the battery by unplugging it from the wall, the fan spun up and I couldn't hear myself think. I'll have to see how the replacement works but I suspect if the fan works, the unit may be in good shape.

Other Thoughts: Had to RMA this after one day. Also, although I wouldn't deduct an egg for the product, the shipping was pretty bad. It was shipped in its original box with no outer packaging. I understand it's 30lbs, but having a device sit on my front porch all day when everyone who wanders by knows what it is doesn't give me a happy feeling. Also, the box arrived broken (the bottom tape was off and the flaps were opened) and one of the foam protectors was destroyed (which probably attributes to the damaged unit).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product, awesome price

Pros: Ive had this backup running for about 2 months now and luckily its only seen action once. I have 2 Proliant DL160 G6's hooked up to it along with a switch, router, and modem. The power went out for about 2 hours and I was able to keep the servers online with the network for a half hour after the outage. Once I killed the servers, my network remained online throughout the duration of the outage.

Needless to say this thing is capable of providing some long lasting power should you need it.

Cons: None as of yet. I will be buying a few more of these to be honest.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works! I am a 3D animator running a pretty hefty system, and I live in an area that has a lot of power outages due to thunder storms. I have been able to safely shut off my system a few times now and save projects a few times now. Definitely a good buy.

Cons: It's a little big...

5 out of 5 eggswow

Pros: i have 4 of these. i needed one more for my new NAS. the unit showed up dead. i called trip lite and we did some trouble shooting. I pulled batteries from another unit and put them in the new and it worked. the new unit batteries were dead. they are shipping me new ones. they work better than my APC units.

Cons: none really, batteries do go bad and im sure it was the heat that did them in.

Other Thoughts: I really like tripp lite. i feel you get more product for less. APC prices are stupid high for a unit rated lower than this one. also i was told by APC when i called to buy batteries that i needed to replace the whole unit because it was older than 3 years. that did not sit well with me. so i have to replace the whole unit every 3 years? I am replacing all my APC units with these bigger and better unit for less than a new APC unit would cost me.

4 out of 5 eggsOK, but not great

Pros: Appears to handle loads well. Have yet to see "momentary" outages disrupt devices connected to the unit. Output percentage is interesting to see when used for A/V equipment.

Cons: Blue LCD display is excessively bright. If you are going to use this in any location where you don't want a "homing beacon" - you'll need to do something to reduce the display's output. Would like to see the display dim/turn off unless there is something that requires attention.

Other Thoughts: Have not experienced what previous posters commented on. Purchased two units (at the same time) and have not had any issue with either unit (except display intensity). Perhaps "newer" version?

3 out of 5 eggsOk Product, Support sucks!

Pros: Worked well when I got it, putting out 600w average to my server and raid array. Kept up for a couple power outages in the first month. This was used at home during winter storms.

Cons: After a couple months we had an outage and the equipment went down. Tested the unit and it said the battery was bad. I contacted support and got the runaround for four days. They asked a lot of questions and in the end said it was probably my equipment! Eventually I was able to get them to RMA the device but instead of sending a new one out and me mailing back the broken one. I have to sent it in and wait for a new one. Would not buy from this company again just based on their support.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that our warranty return process did not meet your expectations. Part of our return process is for Tripp Lite’s technical support team to diagnosis the cause of failure and to rule out if the cause of the problem is environmental or a mechanical failure with the UPS. This is done to assure we have diagnosed the issue correctly and to avoid future failures. You can always contact our technical support team directly via phone at 773-869-1234 and may find speaking to a live person will help to expedite the replacement process. We value your feedback regarding our warranty policy and will be sure to pass it onto our product support management team.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems to work fine

Pros: -Can run my computer for about an hour, and that's while playing games
-Fan doesn't run when incoming power is OK (although I would like to have it run when charging)
-Charges quickly (for a UPS, anyway)

Cons: It says it's compatible with Linux, and is a standard HID UPS. However, while it does show up as a "TRIPP LITE UPS", I cannot monitor it like I could with my old APC.

Other Thoughts: I've never seen the AVR come on, because the power is too stable here. In fact, the only time it's had to do anything was when my heater malfunctioned and tripped the breaker.
