4 out of 5 eggsNatural Display!

Pros: Does 6 layers of fractions (fractions within fractions), log allows you to specify the base value, random number generator (fractions from 0 to 1 it seems..), exact OR decimal number output (ex: sqrt(3)/2 or 0.8660254038, your choice), statistics functionality, and other stuff I haven't gotten around to trying. Overall, the Natural Display thing is awesome, but...

Cons: It could use a faster "graphics card." The more complicated the input becomes (with a bunch of fractions, trig, log, etc), the greater the lag time becomes for the display to update with your last key press. There is no caching of what you press, either. During the lag times it will not register any presses you make, so you can't just enter your input at your own pace and wait for it to catch up.

Other Thoughts: I guess you can just memorize the formulas for stuff like csc, sec, and cot, because they don't exist on their own.
Navigating through the input should have been made faster/easier. A faster "graphics card", as mentioned above, would help a lot. This calculator compromises some speed to have its natural display, and the slowness is annoying enough to me for me to take off an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsCalculator

Pros: The TI-30XS MultiView (TI-30XSMV) is not a graphing calculator, but has a graphical display that allows the calculator to display equations as they would be printed in a text book - TI calls this "MathPrint" mode. Formulas and equations can also be displayed in a traditional character representation, called "Classic" model. The "MultiView" trademark appears to refer to the ability of the calculator to display formulas and equations in either mode.

(Casio first introduced a similar non-graphing graphical display in their ES series (e.g. fx-115ES, fx-300ES) calculators in 2005. Casio calls their graphical display capability "Natural Textbook Display" (or "Natural Display"). Casio's display modes are "Math" (MthIO in the setup menu), the textbook display style, and "Linear" (LinIO in the setup menu), the traditional character display mode.)

Cons: (or "Natural Display"). Casio's display modes are "Math" (MthIO in the setup menu), the textbook display style, and "Linear" (LinIO in the setup menu), the traditional character display mode.)
