4 out of 5 eggsWorks as a Asterisk Phone System

Pros: I set this box up as my SOHO Asterisk based phone system and it has worked well. I wouldn't use it for very many users, but it has worked as well as any other PC for my AsteriskNow setup.

Cons: Many of the Asterisk based install media (CentOS Linux based) don't recognize the NIC/Internet hardware so you need to figure out how to acquire and then install the drivers manually from a thumb drive if you want to use your VOIP (Internet) based system on your LAN/Internet.

Other Thoughts: A better selection might be a foxconn that doesn't have the WiFi builtin since you typically don't use that from the Asterisk Server.

1 out of 5 eggsSupport Non Existent

Pros: Size

Cons: Technical support and RMA department are non-existent, their official support numbers always go to voice-mails. My power adapter has stopped working and I have been trying to get a replacement but can never reach their support. Forget about filing their online inquiry form because all they do is ask you to call their support # which never gets answered.

Other Thoughts: Buy from a company which has some sort of support.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,Sorry for the inconvenience. We will feedback your issue to RMA department and require them to contact you directly.May I have your detailed contact information? Please send it to our online service system( you!Foxconn Support Team

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Video Quality for Larger Video files

Pros: Yes its small. It has HDMI,
Price was good.
There was a good bundle with 2gb ram from newegg.

Cons: On bigger video files (720p+) using Win 7 64 and XBMC the video is choppy and slow. I thought it was the wireless network but it happens when I am plugged in to my 10/100/1000 Lan as well.
I thought it could be the 2 GB ram in the system so I purchased a 4GB stick (from newegg but expensive) and I still have the same issue.
There is also an SSD drive in this thing as well.

Other Thoughts: Win 7 64 ult
4gb ddr2 800
32 GB
OCZ Vertex Series 30GB (SSD)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine....except for Netflix! Get off you arses Microsoft and Netflix we are paying customers who have proper hardware and you are not delivering!

Pros: Smooth, energy efficient playback of every video file I toss at it SD and HD (I use VLC, enable GPU). Small form factor is excellent space saver, easy to get into the guts. After BIOS upgrades runs very quiet and stable. Upgraded HD 320Gb and 2Gb RAM, love it! Thanks Tom

Cons: Not a one after BIOS Updates, just got device 2 months ago!

Great Machine..except Netflix playback! Thats Microsoft's and Netflix's problem though!!!

Other Thoughts: Newer versions of Microsoft Silverlight 4 and 5 that killed GPU acceleration, even though Netflix has it turned on. Unistalled Silverlight 5 with REVO (2,685 Registry Entries!) and installed Silverlight 4.0.50401, playback is now possible in browsers, HD still has issues, seems you have to let buffter before playing HD, I pause then turn on HD and let buffer for a while. Hope this helps!

1 out of 5 eggschoppy video. Poor CPU

Pros: Fantastic form factor and great looks. Suitable for living room, next to your large screen TV. I bought the white color version. I installed 4gb Patriot 800 DD2 memory and Seagate 750 GB Momentus drive. Running win7/64 professional.

Cons: 1) poor heat dissipation. CPU runs extremely hot, especially while decoding MKV, m2ts, mp4 or AVCHD file. I used VLC player. Video is totally choppy and pixelated. Not at all acceptable.
2) plastic box. Difficult to open and close.
3) drivers are missing. The CD drivers are out-of-date. My Win7/64 showed "coprocessor" driver missing in the device manager.

Other Thoughts: This barebone technology looks very promising, but NOT ready for any high-def video playback. Foxconn needs to solve heat dissipation problem - provide liquid cooling-

5 out of 5 eggsUpdating previous review

Pros: It is small! It looks really good. It was easy to take apart and pop a hard drive and memory in it. Installed XP on it with no problems. Works great. Very impressive little unit.

Cons: *** I previously stated that the HDMI port was staticy. This turned out to be a ground fault on my outlet, so I am re-submitting my review and giving it 5 instead of 4 eggs.

Other Thoughts: The fan is quiet enough for me, but it's not whisper quiet. It seems to always run at a constant speed, even when the CPU is at idle for long periods of time, the fan never idles down. This isn't a con for me, but it's definitely worth noting.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for MythTV frontend!

Pros: AWESOME value and performance for use as an additional frontend to my MythTV HTPC. Now I can enjoy my MythTV in multiple rooms! VERY quiet!

Cons: Documentation on enabling VDPAU support for mythTV is scarce & after months of research I finally found out how to get this to stop freezing and locking up.

Other Thoughts: If you're using this for MythTV as a frontend, google is your best friend. Hint: google NT-330i myth VDPAU for relevant hits and info! Consider using an SSD to store your OS for fast boot!

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

Pros: Compact size, low power, came with a Linux distrobution!

Cons: Durability is very low, setup is moderately difficult as I had to fine drives on the internet, not supplied on the CD.

Other Thoughts: After letting set for 1+ month the unit wont even POST. So how to trouble shoot a high interrogation design? It was neat while it ran; but its poor durability makes it very expensive.

3 out of 5 eggsGood but not great

Pros: Small and well made machine, good for living room PC.

Cons: Quality Control Problem?

Other Thoughts: Ordered one for myself with SSD Hard Drive, works great.

Ordered another one for a friend with normal Hard Drive, the Wifi won't connect to any Wifi router. It does not find all the routers nearby either. Reuqested a replacement but same problem. Just bought an extra usb 11n adapter to solve the problem.

Don't know if it is not compatible with the HD I installed or quality control problem for the barebone itself.

Hope there is new windows 7 driver for the Wifi will solve the problem.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsAwesomeness!

Pros: Excellent mini computer

Cons: Limited Bios options, but hey it not really a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Device will only accept 4GB RAM from the two companies. Corsair & Kingston. I have a Stick in both my systems.
