5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price for a barebone system. The Atom is a time proven CPU designed to face all elements.

Cons: Nothing that I have experienced. However, the power supply seems to be running slightly hot, but nothing to be concerned about.

Other Thoughts: Case/PSU/Motherboard/Processor (This barebones, N82E16856119037)
Memory (N82E16820159010)
System drive (, N82E16820227510)
Data drive (N82E16822136769)

5 out of 5 eggsNice little box

Pros: Compact size, easy to set up. Just add memory, hard drive, and you're good to go.
Inexpensive box for a test platform or light duty desktop

All in all a pretty good value.

Cons: No hardware RAID support, and no way to mount a second hard drive instead of a DVD/CDROM drive without a drive bracket kit.

Not a big deal, but it'd be nice to have.

4 out of 5 eggsGood! But not for gaming, old style PCI slot, NOT PCI-E

Pros: Like the other reviews say, just add a stick of ram (2gb), a SATA optical drive, a (SATA only! no IDE) hard drive, kb(ps2 OR USB)/mouse/monitor/wiredinternet (not wireless internet) and you are good to go. NOT a gaming machine, but great for full screen video streaming, internet, and other regular office type stuff. Some games like WOW (about 5-9 fps) and WoT (1-9 fps) do work but it's really not good enough. Note, it has an "old skool" PCI slot, which is different from PCI Express! So good luck finding a compatible card that's faster that the onboard Intel 3150 chip. I haven't!

Cons: Has old style PCI slot... Not PCI express! Case faceplate wont open when my SATA Optical Drive opens up, annoying but not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Still looking for a video upgrade!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Kit but wrong power cable

Pros: Great barebone for a Atom cpu. I have purchased 6 of these before and worked great but recent purchase I had a small problem.

Cons: I received the case and installed the ram and hard drive, no problem. Then I got the power cable and found out its a European cable, luckily I had a few extra power cables laying around. Only reason I have it a 4 egg rating.

1 out of 5 eggsDead On Arrival

Pros: I have other Foxconn products and have been happy enough with them, this is my fourth barebones, HOWEVER...

Cons: Just got a R10-D4 and it was dead on arrival. All other components installed were from one of my other Foxconn barebones and are known good and compatible (I was upgrading... faster CPU). The components still work in the original unit. The new R10-D4 has no video output.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
We apologize for the experience you had with your Foxconn product. What cpu did you use ? if possible ,we recommend you use the validated memory to have a test .

2 out of 5 eggsGood case Dangerous PSU

Pros: Good looking case, and the whole system with 2 gigs of ram performed Exceptionally well with Windows 7 on it!

Cons: I wrote a while back that the psu had gotton so hot that it partially melted a SATA cable within and hour after i installed it to my clients house, well now, the PSU Spewed out smoke and fried! Thankfully, my client was home or it would have started a fire!

Other Thoughts: Promising case but sadly comes with a Terrible PSU!

2 out of 5 eggsPSU Is total garbage and nearly started a fire!

Pros: Nice case screams as far as speed.

Cons: Bought on 8/8/2011 installed on 8/11/2011 to client. i wrote a review when i got it because the psu got so hot that it melted a sata cable within an hour of installing it, now it got hot and the comp stopped workand and began spewing out smoke! thankfully it didnt happen at night or it may have started a fire!

Other Thoughts: I bought because it was innexpensive and seemed like a good deal, it seems that everything else is great, but foxconn PLEASE Put in a better PSU! :(

3 out of 5 eggsCase dimensions

Pros: Haven't even turned it on yet, but I'm sure it runs great

Cons: The case dimensions are actually 11.1 x 12.5 x 3.74 inches, which is an inch an a half bigger than the specs state. There is also a metal tab sticking out the back an additional .5 inches, making the case 13 inches long.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,Please refer to the dimension of R10-D4:280*282*95mm = 7.5L -->11.02*11.10*3.74 inches. For more information of it,please refer to our official website.http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Barebones/detail_spec.aspx?ID=en-us0000082 Thank you! 4 out of 5 eggsPretty nice

Pros: Small And Convenient. It performed exceptionally well OS wise. I normally install linux to machines i build, but i installed windows 7 per my clients request, and the machine just screams. Its fast it doesnt lag even a little when i tested it running resource heavy software. And with only 2 gigs of ram, im thoroughly impressed.

Cons: PSU is terrible. I installed it yesterday, and had to go back an hour later because they smelled something burning. when i opened the case up, the psu had gotten so hot it had partially melted one of the sata cables that was up against it.

Other Thoughts: Performed great, but has that psu issue, which is a major downside. :(

5 out of 5 eggsWell Suited For My Project

Pros: Very well suited machine for a firewall/gateway or low volume server.

There is a bay for a 3.5" device below the 5.25" ODD bay. I used a 2x2.5" to 3.5" bay converter to seat 2x2.5" HDD's in the internal 3.5" bay.

Atom CPU reports average usage with average loads running a Windows Server 2008 R2 as a domain controller, DNS server, DHCP server, Web server, File server and WMWare worstation running one VM as the firewall & gateway with only 4GB of RAM and supporting about ten workstations.

With the dual core and hyperthreaded CPU, the OS reports four logical cores.

The chassis is near silent. There are three fans one in the PSU, on the CPU and a chassis fan and I hear none of them. Thermals look good, residing in Utah where the temperature is about 95 degrees right now and in a room with no climate conditioning at all.

Three NIC’s were required, so a PCI NIC and USB NIC were necessary for my purpose. Otherwise the PCI slot could be used for a discrete video card and this could very well easily be used as an HTPC and DLNA device that would yield above average performance.

Other Thoughts: The chassis dismantles very easily (a screw driver is necessary to remove the upper bay cage to get to the lower) and it quite solid.

I am overall very satisfied and if needed for another project, would purchase again.
