5 out of 5 eggsGood HTPC, Great price!

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: Very small size, Very low cost, More than enough power for HTPC use, Easy to set up.

Cons: None for the price.

Other Thoughts: This is a great choice if looking to hook it up to your TV or monitor. The small size and included VESA bracket are a great combo for this(Will need a larger adapter for TV's with larger than 100mm VESA mounts, no problems with a computer monitor). I've run every single HTPC OS out there on it with zero issues. Currently have Windows 8.1 Pro on it and it's running smooth as glass with few if any lags noticed. 1080p works without stutter on Netflix and other applications needing it. For you folks who aren't getting this result: did you upgrade your video drivers on Intel's website? The included ones are way out of date...just sayin' :-) Also, for now at least, Windows 10 Final runs a bit slow on this, could just be lack of driver support. For instance, Intel hasn't released any driver upgrades for this yet that work on 10. Just a head's up if intending to use that OS.

The memory needed for this MUST be on Gigabyte's list on their website or this WON'T work. This has been stated on here many times now, there's no excuse for giving it a one egg rating just because you can't read....truth. I used this 8GB one with zero issues:
CORSAIR ValueSelect 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1333 (PC3L 10600) Laptop Memory Model CMSO8GX3M1C1333C9

For the money, this is a great, cheap Intel NUC alternative(same chipset), it would also make a great kid's computer or low cost backup that can be stored in a drawer(seriously!) if ever needed. Good job, Gigabyte, this ones a winner!

5 out of 5 eggsLove these! Great for purpose built applications!

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: Workhorse! I use these as little mini DVR's with my Ceton InfiniTV 6 for TV's in various parts of my house and they just work awesome. I'll be buying a couple more for other jobs. FYI - The mini PCI slot does not support mSATA. I tried it.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Box

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: I've always been very critical of Celeron processors, but the Celeron in this little box packs a wallop. I set it up for my in-laws, and it runs great. Surprisingly able to handle some low-range gaming (Minecraft, Burnout: Paradise on low). If I had the money, I would certainly buy it again.

Cons: Nothing to report at this time.

Other Thoughts: Pay attention to what memory you put in this box. I didn't chance it and bought a 4GB stick of G.Skill DDR3L memory. Throw in a decent sized SSD and you have one heck of a cheap little Windows PC.

5 out of 5 eggs1.35V Memory for 4th Generation Celron

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: Well made case and layout. The tolerances are very good and everything has a nice solid feel to it.
You can remove the Wireless/Bluetooth module.

Cons: Haven't gotten that far, will write a second review in a month or so.

Other Thoughts: Thoughts on those who've had over heating issues.

When I took the base off of the unit, I had a moment where I was unsure which way it had been aligned. I looked at the diagrams included and matched it that way.

Should you happen to put the back on incorrectly, the "This Side Up" notice will be pointing in the wrong direction. I imagine it would overheat very easily that way. I most likely would have overlooked that but I've spent decades with hardware and know to pay attention to that.

I'll write a more complete review in a month or so of use.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but quirky

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: Economical, very small, very quiet, draws 8 watts with a 256 GB SSD drive and 8GB of memory. I am deploying it for word processing, web browsing and email and see no problems with that. I also tested to make sure our user with a Stat package would get good performance and could do a 3 variable regression on a million observations in a fraction of a second.

Cons: Like a laptop, not very expandable or repairable although memory, disk and Wifi are plugged in to sockets and can be easily replaced. Don't lose any screws - they will be hard to replace.

Other Thoughts: This comes with a metal plate that you can screw to the back of a VESA compliant monitor. Then the computer slips onto the plate
but can be removed easily.

I noticed some minor problems while setting up.

1) The drivers for LAN, audio and wireless must be loaded from the included disk, they are not in Windows 7. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and FreeBSD10.1 did have LAN drivers in the default install , but I didn't see any WiFi drivers for either one.

2) You need to set a CMOS setup switch to allow Windows 7 to install.

3) The instructions say press "Del" to run setup, but I never got that key to work. The key labeled "Delete" does the trick.

I did order 6 more of these because I like. the size, weight and quiet.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat htpc for kodi and media center

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: small footprint
low power use
faster than expected

Cons: Somewhat picky with ram.
usb power is a little lite, i had to use a powered hub for my tuner, ir receiver and wireless keyboard/mouse

Other Thoughts: all the people who keep saying they are DOA. its your ram. these little boxes are very picky with ram. some ram will give no video, some will give a green screen after a few moments.

make sure it is ddr3L and not the dual voltage stuff. 1.5v/1.3v ram gives trouble.

been using this pc to record tv with a usb tuner in windows 7 media center. it works great.

kodi is a little slow to start streams, but nothing too bad.

i am hardwired network, have not used the wireless card.

5 out of 5 eggsLow power, silent, decent performance

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: Fanless. Uses very little power. VT support. 2.5" drive support.

Cons: A bit underpowered when running Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8.1 runs ok, but this thing really shines running Linux. I have one running Debian and one running CentOS with 4 KVM VMs (on a 480GB SSD) for a class lab. Surprised at how well it runs.

1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-2807 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel HD Graphics Integrated by CPU Black Mini-PC Barebone

Pros: Arrived on Time, NewEgg's RMA Process is very quick.
