5 out of 5 eggsLove this box

Pros: I set this up as a media center PC with Windows 8. It uses low power, its quiet and has a BlueRay DVD drive. I love everything about this computer.

Cons: The hardware can't keep up with 1080p MP4 video playback, but it may be VLC, so I am still tweaking the software. I use 720p video files and it plays perfectly smooth.

Other Thoughts: Great media computer. Get yourself a wireless remote and you will love this as a media center PC. I am playing back video files saved on my Windows 2003 Server with no problems.

4 out of 5 eggsFills the need well

Pros: Good size and price for features. This is the machine I use to stream movies and music. It's quiet, compact, looks good sitting on a desk, and the blu-ray drive means it's a fully functional HTPC.

Cons: When all the disks are spinning it produces some white noise. It's not terrible and if you're watching a movie or listening to music you don't notice it at all.

2 gb of ram is a very small amount. The CPU also is fairly weak. This is not a machine to play games on.

I intend to upgrade it to 4gb of ram and swap the HDD out for a SSD. I expect this will significantly reduce the already low amount of noise produced.

Other Thoughts: You have to install an OS on it. It's not advertised with an OS, so this should not come as a surprise to anybody who has even moderate computer knowledge.

Windows 7 runs just fine on it, no hiccups at all. Maybe a bit slow starting up but after that it handles it's HTPC role well.

I did get some stuttering on netflix streaming however once I turned HD off, it worked just fine (and there was no degradation in picture quality on my 30" screen)

1 out of 5 eggsfalse advertising

Pros: the supported memory under specs stated it to be ddr3 204-pin. After I purchased the ddr3 ram and tried to upgrade, it turned out to be a misfit. What a waste. Of course I didn't attempt the upgrade right away, so have passed the return window. Somebody needs to proof read what is advertised.

Cons: See pros above.

Other Thoughts: Now I have to spend some more money to get the upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsNeat little box!

Pros: Very small footprint. It is smaller than my old DVD player! Good amount of power. Not going to set any world records but it does a great job as a multimedia system (what I bought it for). It has all the connections you'd ever want for a mini-pc (e-SATA, USB 3.0, HDMI, etc...). Opened up the bottom of the box to put in some more RAM and everything seems to be high-quality (metal panel, good arrangement of internal components, etc..).

Cons: On the website (both newegg and manufacturer) the RAM type is mislabeled. It is listed as DDR3 800...? Accidentally bought the correct RAM (DDR3 1333/PC3 10600). A lot of different audio devices might cause some conflicts. I had a little "studdering" going on with the performance but I think it was caused by the HDMI S/PDIF, and analog channels all "fighting" to access the system at the same time. Disabled the ones I wasn't using and the performance smoothed out. I couldn't get my wireless USB NIC to work right in the USB 3.0 slot. Moved it to the USB 2.0 one and it worked great.

Other Thoughts: The light on the top of the system is cool/cute, but if you have it as an entertainment system where you sleep, it is pretty bright when you put the system to sleep at night. With an SSD, this system would ROCK! On-board wireless NIC doesn't have much power, used an external USB to get better signal.

1 out of 5 eggsDOB (Dead on Birth- After OS installation)

Pros: Well it seemed to work fine until all the 109 updates on Windows 7 finished.

Cons: DOB (Dead on Birth- basically would not reboot after OS installation). Unplugged the power cord, replugged the power cord and press the power button. No Joy. Simply dead. Looks like I got a bad one. This was for a boardroon setup at the corporate office. After 4 hours of mounting the PC with the included wall bracket and arranging the monitor and projector hookups, I was ticked off as it would not even power on. Now I have to send it back.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for HTPC

Pros: - Small footprint
- Powerful enough to play any media in HD
- Quiet (once you figure out how to dial down the fan)
- On sale was cheapest way of getting a complete HTPC with 3D BluRay capabilities

Cons: - No rear facing audio jack (other than HDMI)
- Not intuitive to find the CPU fan settings in the BIOS

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to buy this system in the past but bought this on a Shell Shocker deal for $340 plus a $40 MIR, plus free shipping. Amazing price for what you get. Couldn't touch that price anywhere else then and certainly not now at $490 plus shipping. It was worth the gamble and it paid off in spades. I've built several HTPC systems over the past few years and while there are certainly ways to make a system much more customizable, this system by far gives you everything you need to build an entry level system right out of the box. It plays everything I throw at it without a hiccup. Only two minor complaints. There's no rear facing audio jack for those who want to have sound routed to PC speakers and the fan was horrendously loud for such a little box and the settings to turn it down weren't very intuitive to find in the BIOS. What would make this thing elite would be an IR sensor for those who have Harmony remote controls.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for XBMC / OTA TV

Pros: I have a 30TB nas that this streams 6-12 GIG MKV files just fine through XBMC, It took some tweaking with the settings to get flawless playback, but now it plays just fine.

Cons: so far .TS files don't play to well, it could be the way it was compressed.

Other Thoughts: During playback it uses about 22% CPU and around 30% Ram, I did upgrade to 4gigs of ram using WMC ( OTA ) and XBMC.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine.

Pros: Works great, right out of the box no issues, very fast. I have it running windows 7 pro.

It is perfect for my company. Have it mounted to the back of a 64inch TV.

Cons: Wish it came with a better wall mount. it's setup to only mount one way.

Other Thoughts: I'm buying two more, great job Zotac!
