The U.S. Army Universal Gaming Headset with 3D Effect designed by CTA Digital for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or PC provides the strategic edge you need for victory in any modern gaming warfare scenario. On the battlefield, often the key to winning isn't firepower but communication. Any seasoned first person shooter player knows all too well that a sure path to defeat is being unable to hear clear signals from your squad or the approaching enemy. Wearing uncomfortable headsets for long periods of gameplay can lead to fatigue as well, but this headset is designed to address these factors, and provide comfort that can last through even the longest of campaigns. The Gaming Headset connects to a monitor or sound system with standard RCA stereo jacks (red and white) and directly to your console's USB port via separate cables, thus allowing users to adjust the volume of in-game audio and chat communication independently with the wired remote. The removable mic can also be easily muted with a simple switch on the remote so you don't have to worry about transmitting every word you say. When you really want to feel like you're on the battlefront and fully hear every distinct game detail, press the 3D Sound Effect button on the remote for a widened audio field that will surround you with the power of triple drivers in each ear. Not only does all this allow for a finely tuned and completely customized audio experience, but the audio quality itself is rich with the dynamic base that all serious gamers crave. You can finally hear subtle details that will give you the competitive advantage, or simply enjoy extended play sessions thanks to the comfortable padding. This headset will give you the flexibility to play on any system and fully control your immersion within the game. Equip yourself with pride using the U.S. Army Universal Gaming Headset with 3D Effect.

5 out of 5 eggsCTA Headset

Pros: Good sound, over 100db sensitivity. Good with the Soundblaster Z card ($99).

Cons: I ordered a Turtle Beach headset that was black and blue. I got this one in the mail and it has ARMY logos all over it and extra stuff I dont need. It is slightly lower quality than the one I originally ordered. Oh well.

Other Thoughts: Newegg should have 24 hour per day customer service so they can listen to me complain.

4 out of 5 eggsGood headset

Pros: -Very good sound quality. Never had problems with friends not being able to understand me.

-The flexible and removable mic is seriously nice and very sturdy.

-Worked well on my Playstation 3.

-Inline controls are convenient and sturdy.

(Also, I bought these on another website, but they were a lot cheaper on Newegg. Didn't realize this until later.)

Cons: I had this headset for 8 months when it broke. the piece of plastic that is right below the headband snapped. However, here is a pro with having the 3.5mm plugins- just plug in the mic and put the headset around your neck (may need to adjust). So for around two months, I have been doing that.

Also, the wire doesn't feel all that durable.

Other Thoughts: CTA made a great headset! For them, all I recommend is improving the plastic durability. Also, music is nice and crisp on this. Furthermore, when you walk around a city in this headset without the mic, you feel great.

2 out of 5 eggsIt's alright if you don't have a massive head

Pros: Pretty good sound quality. It's good, but it's probably not what you'd expect at its price range.
The microphone is more than acceptable. It's not as clear as you might expect for its price range but it's certainly not awful.
Excellent cord length, you're not going to be forced closer to your system by its length.
Volume slider is conveniently located and it can adjust both mic and game volume.

Cons: The slider makes it easy to accidentally mute your game or mic, and even change its setting to a different console's setting.
The cord requires intense uncoiling work if you use it at any distance less than ten feet.
Sound quality and mic quality are good, but not what you'd expect for the price range. You can get a better headset for $40 less and if you can spend $80 on a headset, then you can do MUCH better.
Also, and this is the main reason I'm writing this review, they are not for people with even remotely large heads. If you think you have even a slightly large head, then you need to keep looking because they will break without a moments hesitation if you so much as think about putting one of the earcups around one of your ears.
Also, they tend to leave deep imprints in your hair, even if you've got relatively close cropped hair. It's not a huge deal since you can just run a brush through your hair a couple of times and be done with it, but it's still a little irritating.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Good clear sound
Bass is good
Cannot hear outside noise
Directional sound is good
3D effect works really well with SOME games, when the 3D effect is not on they still sound good

Cons: The only instructions that come with it are how to plug it into your pc/Xbox/ps3
There is slight discomfort after wearing them for long periods of time (6 hrs)
I cannot hear myself speak through the headset when playing on PS3, which causes my to scream at my TV until the wee hours of the morning.

Other Thoughts: I know a headset it basically plug and play. But I would have really liked an instruction booklet to just go over all the features and specifications on the product. If anyone knows how to make it so I can hear my own voice through the headset please let me know.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: Good, Solid Feel.
Easy set up, Long cords.
I use this set for my PC, as I don't have any consoles.
Audio clarity is solid, I'm very satisfied with the clarity.
Did a couple test recordings on audacity, and background noise was minimal to non existing. Voice came through nice and clear.

Overall pretty happy with the product, even if I was hesitant at first, because I usually go along with Logitech accessories, wasn't so knowledgable with US army products. But I'm pretty satisfied with the product, and I look forward to checking out other US Army products.

Another thing that was nice, was being able to adjust volume on either voice chat, or regular audio, separately.

Cons: The reason I took an egg off, is because the product advertises the "3D Effect for PS3/XBOX/PC" There are three modes, "Norm(PC), P3(PS3), and XB(Xbox). It states in the manual; "Note: 3D function is only available when operated with 'PS' or 'XB' modes. Meaning no 3D for PC users.

This disappointed me a tad bit, but its not a big deal, the headset works just fine the way it is.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'd say 4.5/5 eggs, pretty satisfied! (:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset

Pros: Very Clear Sound For Gameplay.
Multiple Uses (Xbox, PC, PS3, MP3, Ipod/Iphone)
3D Sound
Able To Control Chat Volume And Gaming Volume From Headsets Without Disturbing Others.
Detachable Mic.
Can Wear For Long Periods Of Time
Foldable For Storage
Very Long Cord.

Cons: 3D Isn't all that clear, Blends in with chat volume.
Cord Can be tangled up to much.

Other Thoughts: I had these headsets for a long time, Me and my girlfriend has been using these for the past few months, and we both really like them, they sound great, they are very comfortable. It makes sounding out for people very easily. The Best part that I like is that you can control the chat and the game volume separately from the headsets.

Honestly if you want a good pair of headsets for a very good price. Buy these. They haven't fell apart on me yet. They are still like new and they will still feel like new as long that you have them.
