2 out of 5 eggsWireles Headset

Pros: On sale, great sound separation and quality. I bought this mainly for my HTPC and movies, music and for the most part the quality of the sound and fit/feel of the headset is good. Nice preset mixer. Mic sounds great. But-

Cons: Almost sent them back and may still. Limited power and sound volume is low. At full volume its perfect but you can't turn it up loud. The power runs from a USB port. Distance is short 20 ft tops line of site only.

Update: 12/24/15 Its been just over a year and they are now in the trash. Break way too easy. I have used a whole role of tape on this headset.

Other Thoughts: Fit fine on my head and can wear for hours no problem. Just not loud enough

1 out of 5 eggsNot Wireless.

Pros: Most of the headset functionality is there.

Cons: The automatic shutoff forces you to use it as a wired headset. After a few support tickets with the manufacturer I can be sure they will never fix this issue!

It is supposed to detect sound from the game and cancel the shutoff but it just doesn't pick up the sound from my mic or from the sound of the game.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent, but juicing optimal performance has a bit of a learning curve.

Pros: Extremely versatile. Take the time to learn the product, and you will find that you can put these things to work for you in a wide range of use scenarios. For instance, I might take them to the office to pair with my office phone for a long conference call, go home and watch a movie or game with them, then use them with a mobile to listen to music or an audio book while walking the dog. You are not going to get absurd levels of bass out of the box, but you can certainly improve matters with some tweaks in the advanced audio editor. If nothing less than head ringing bass will do for you, then you would probably be better off going with a different product. I think it is excellent and well balanced. Clear and punchy without overpowering everything else, but it is not going to sound like you are at a dance club in front of a row of subs, and I do not believe that is what TB had in mind to do.

Cons: It does not kiss on the first date. If you are the type that tosses the owners manual in a tin can the moment you open the box, then you are likely to be disappointed. The build quality could be better, which was also true of the PX3's they replaced, but the sound quality is exceptional, and its hard to complain for the price. The auto shutoff feature has some redeeming qualities, and it can be mitigated if it annoys you, but Turtle Beach absolutely should have incorporated user control over this feature rather than force feeding it. I would think that a firmware update could address this, but I would not hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Other Thoughts: Purchased these on sale for less than $100. Had I reviewed the set early on, I might well have been dishing out similar comments to what I see here. However, if you take some time to tweak the settings, you can squeeze some really impressive performance out of them. You will absolutely need a Bluetooth dongle for the setup to work right, which can be purchased for a nominal price. For my PC, the Bluetooth is all that I use 99% of the time, and it sounds great. The tin can comment is a driver/settings issue that I have experienced and corrected. After it is configured right, your Bluetooth will pump out very good quality audio, and I keep a cable on hand to run to the mobo for occasions when I need impeccable detail. Meanwhile, I run everything to the TV with HDMI, then run digital audio out from TV to headset stand, then from headset digital audio out to my surround sound. Now you get great sound quality for PS4 and other HDMI devices attached to the TV (Roku or etc). Mad that the thing shuts down on you after a period of non-use? Keep it connected to a Bluetooth device...

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible for PC Gamers

Pros: 1.) The digital audio sounds great when plugged in through the optical to my computer.
2.) Analog output also sounds great.
3.) Receiver is cool looking, has a place for the headset to sit on.

Cons: 3.) The receiver is only good for its looks for the PC gamer. There is no mic output compatible with the PC. There is only a power cord that connects through USB to the computer, and the receiver cannot send microphone data through this power cord.

4.) I bought a bluetooth adapter for this headset, reading reviews that it might sound good. This headset sounds like I'm speaking out of a tin can.

Other Thoughts: If you are an avid PC gamer trying to communicate with your teammates, avoid this headset like the plague.

1 out of 5 eggsfirst one dead 2nd one marginally better.

Pros: has a holder on the base. super comfort. sound quality when not bluetoothed to my pc. it was on sale, can connect to my phone.

Cons: about 70% of the time it wont stay on more then 6 mins unless plugged into the charging cord. needs a Bluetooth adapter on your computer to hook it up. requires a cord to controller to use on the ps4. mic sound is really cheap and distant. cant get it to work right on the ps3. It has a hard time connecting to my phone when i get a call. it wont connect when i answer it then mid way thru the call all of a sudden the sound is coming out of my headset. it can only connect to two different Bluetooth devices, I mean what the heck is with that if it works on a ps4, ps3, Xbox and Xbox one and pc.... turtle beach support is really lacking when I contact them. cant return it to newegg :( tried on the first one. newegg used to be so good about that.
I was a fan of turtle beach but not anymore.

1 out of 5 eggsScam

Pros: Sound great for music streaming.

Cons: Bought these to game with on PC. First of all they CANNOT BE RETURNED!! Wish I had realized that before wasting 100 bucks on them! I now have a very expensive set of stereo headphones for music and movies, great. They are miserable to navigate and controls are not user friendly at all. I wish i had trusted my gut and not gone wireless. They also require a blue tooth connection for your pc in order to chat in game, cheep enough from new egg, $23.00 but the cost keeps going up. When something cant be returned, there is usually something wrong with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: *easy setup
*great cushioning
*clear sound
*great mic(if you do not like to hear yourself while you're not chatting, press the mute button)
*plenty if extra modes for both speakers and mic
*dual band wireless
*long battery life
*works great on Xbox one, 360, and pc (see # in other)
*custom sound modes can be loaded onto the headset for game sound optimization
*great connection distance for both Bluetooth and transmitter, I could walk around my house and never lose connection. Even in the basement.
*ps3 and ps4 have it easy, connect via Bluetooth and you're done.

Cons: My only con is that the other negative comments are not accurate. The information is there, people overlook or do not do their research.

4 out of 5 eggsComfortable, but microphone deisgn flaws

Pros: *Comfortable and wont cause fatigue after hours of gaming (though it gets slightly warm)
*Not quite 100% noise canceling, but about 70-80% noise canceling
*Audio is clear and crisp when connected via Fiber Optics Toss Link
*Base is decent, but not great. If you like base, then go for Astro A50's they have better base with mix amp.
*Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone, ipod, and any BT enabled devices
*3.5MM Port for XBOX, or other older legacy music devices (MP3, etc)
*Has options for RCA audio to support older devices e.g. TV, VCR, DVD (not that you will really use them any more)
*Stand is nice for holding headset!

Cons: *Microphone only works if connected via Bluetooth, this is redundant since it also require USB cable connected to PC to power 2.4/5GHZ Receiver. They should have made the USB connection integrated for the microphone.
*If your microphone is attached, you can hear yourself talking and breathing. (This is quite annoying, just detach the microphone) (-.5 Egg)
*Microphone placement is right over the power connection. This is very annoying since you have to turn the microphone every time you power on the device. (-.5 Egg)
*Headset will automatically power off after 10-15 minutes of inactivity. (This can be a pro for some to save battery life, and very annoying for others)
*Warranty is only 1 year, while competitors like Logitech and Astro is 2-3 years. If a manufacture is confident and stands behind their product they should give it 2-3 year warranty.
*Newegg does not allow returns for this headset! Prices also dropped after Shell shocker deal to $100! I bought it for $120 shell shocker.

Other Thoughts: I normally don't write much reviews, but after seeing so many one sided stories, I want to give a fair opinion on the pros and cons of this device. For me, I'm a heavy PC user, and was debating on this or Logitech's G930. What made me decide to choose this headset was because it has great audio, Bluetooth connectivity, and was comfortable. After using the headset for several weeks, what bothers me the most is how I could hear my own breathing and speaking through the microphone, and microphone port blocking the power button. Other than this, the other con's dont bother me that much, and it has been a great headset so far. If you are looking for something with more bass, go with Astros A40's or A50's. If you are looking for a multi purpose headset with bluetooth, this is great. Looking back at the possible options, I would still have choose this headset over Astro, and G930. Bluetooth connectivity fits my needs and life style better. Every headset and product has their quirks. PX51 is no exception. If they could fix the microphone issues, then I would defiantly give this 5 stars.

Other people may complain that Bluetooth phases in and out, but through my experience, this only occurs during the first several minutes after the device has been paired. I think its still communicating information to match up the device properly. After it finishes pairing, I have not experienced any further audio interruptions.

*As for XBOX 360, XBOX One, PS3, PS4, I cannot speak for them since I don't have those devices.
*Presets, I still have yet to play around with this feature.
*One last note, do yourself a favor, and get the extended warranty for 3 years. Its not that much more($20-25). 1 year will go by very quickly, and it would suck to have a broken headset that is not in warranty. Then you have a paper weight.$20 is cheaper than $100-150 on a new headset in the future.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound with Tragic Flaws and No Support

Pros: Superb sound. Comfortable.

Cons: If hooked to an audio source - such as a pre-amp tape monitor out or PC line level out (regardless of the base or headphone volume and settings), it will shut off after 6 minutes without warning. This is a battery saving "feature" that cannot be defeated.

Other Thoughts: I was attempting to use these as wireless headphones. Google found others who had the exact same problem. First email to support went unanswered; second got a reply when I said I had 4 days before I would return them to NewEgg. First reply tech support asked if I had turned on the transmitter. Second email they said "This is why we don't recommend them as wireless headphones." I wish it had said that in the vendor literature; if it had, I wouldn't have bought them.

As usual, 5 eggs for NewEgg customer service.
