Works As Advertised
- Pros: + IEEE 802.11a/b/g/draft n standard
+ Dual-band 5GHz & 2.4GHz signal + WPA2/WPA/WEP encryption protocols + Black color base matches the Elite console + Less interference using 5GHz frequency (Microwaves, phones, bluetooth devices, Xbox 360 wireless controllers/headsets/microphone/racing wheel operate at 2.4GHz frequency)
- Cons: ? Overpriced
? The antennas hinges aren't stiff ? Directions to install adapter are confusing (No need for CD, just plug in device)
- Other Thoughts: For gaming the older adapter is sufficient enough, this adapter is more for multimedia (Zune, Netflix, Windows Media Center, TVersity, Orb, Connect360, Playon, etc.).
You do not need to install the software from CD supplied with the adapter, the NXE update already contains the drivers for the adapter.
ALTERNATIVE: If paying for a product specific wireless adapter doesn't suit you, purchase a 3rd party firmware supported router (Preferably a Linksys WRTxxxN series router running dd-wrt firmware) as adapter. That way you can also connect up to 4 devices like a PS3 & Xbox (running XBMC) and take advantage of 5GHz N dual-band.
Good investment.
- Pros: Very good range. Just moved my 360 into the basement with the wireless N router on the 2nd floor. old adapter kept dropping connections. This one keeps connections just fine. Plays nice with media center alot more than the old wireless g did. better streaming. better online play.
- Cons: Pricey. but its Microsoft.
- Other Thoughts: wish it wasnt $99 but its better than the other adapter. color matches the elite system. do not buy this if you do not have a wireless G router.
