5 out of 5 eggsVery handy

Pros: Better than using the controller and convenient. Very fast service from retailer expected it in 5 to seven days and got it in three.

Cons: None noted yet.

1 out of 5 eggsRun Away!! Run Away!!!

Pros: none really the inexpensive price is not worth the hassle

Cons: There is such a small sweet-spot for the remote to connect to the XBOX it's almost worth just getting up and finding a controller. Plus there is no green button for Windows Media Center on this model

Other Thoughts: If you are trying to lose weight, this is the remote for you! You will gain muscle tone in your arms from the rigorous and strenuous repeated attempts waving the remote at the Xbox trying to get the darn thing to work. Eventually you will get up with the remote and it will work 3 feet from the Xbox. Rinse and repeat. Whew! Feel the burn! What a work out!
This is a piece of garbage. There is such a small sweet-spot for the remote to connect to the XBOX it's almost worth just getting up and finding a controller. Plus there is no green button for Windows Media Center on this model, WMC is the main reason I got the remote.... I'm basing this next comment on my 3rd Xbox and this remote:
Microsoft should put more effort in to the quality of their hardware!
Yes, it really makes me mad, I am very frustrated with it and am going to buy a different one online tonight.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, but not complete

Pros: It controls the xbox and works with most feature in Windows Media Center.

Cons: The remote is missing many buttons that are required for use with windows media center. There isn't even a stop button on the remote. The remote is also missing the "start" button (brings up the main menu in windows media center) as well as the tray "open/close" button.

Other Thoughts: Overall the remote works, but by no means replaces the old (no longer available) white media remote.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Great

Pros: Nice Look and Feel

Cons: Doesn't have all the buttons necessary when using the Xbox as a media extender

Weak or narrow transmitter beam

Other Thoughts: This remote is OK. It mostly gets the job done but with a few problems. The first problem is the lack of a media center button (Green Button) for automatically starting the media center extender on the Xbox. I'm using the xbox for watching live TV off my computer and really could use that button to start the Xbox and automatically start media center.

The other problem I have with it is it needs to be aimed almost directly at the Xbox for it to work. If you are off axis somewhat it won't register the commands. I don't know if it is caused by a weak transmitter or a narrow beam. Most other remotes I have can bounce the signal off of walls and still have it picked up.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: It does what it's meant to do... controls the XBOX without having to turn on a controller. I've had it for a month and the range seems fine. I spend 2 years using one of my controllers to watch movies and such, so this thing is a VERY welcome change! Very satisfied with it.

Cons: If there is an ergonomics department at Microsoft, they were clearly not consulted in the making of this device. It is almost the exact same shape right side up as it is up side down, so it's almost impossible to tell without looking, which gets annoying quick. Minus one egg for the complete lack of ergonomics, but otherwise I love the product.

Other Thoughts: Way way WAY too many complaints on this very simple device. No stop button only somewhat sucks, but def not worthy to torpedo the rating solely because of it.

The only valid complaint would be that it doesn't change TV channels, which I haven't run into, and didn't know until reading the review, and it is laugh out loud stupid because there IS a channel button and the remote DOES control other TV functions, which means they made a conscious decision to axe that out.

4 out of 5 eggsNot sure what all the complaining is about.

Pros: feels well-built, navigates menus flawlessly, really easy to setup the TV programming.

Cons: like most reviewers have stated, you've got to point it right at the xbox, and can't be too far away, but really, how far away from your xbox do you need to be???

Other Thoughts: If you are thinking of not buying this because of all the 1-star reviews, I really think people are overreacting. If you are like me, and you've been using the xbox controller to watch Netflix and DVDs, this is a HUGE improvement, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. If you are looking for a universal remote that does everything you could ever ask it to do, short of giving you a foot massage and doing the laundry, then you're looking at the wrong item. It does what it is supposed to do and works fine.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: It's a remote
easy to set up

Cons: Very very poor range.

Other Thoughts: I wanted a replacement for my xbox controller. I though a remote would be more convenient. This remote only works directly in front of the console. The max range seems to be less than 10 feet, and there can not be any obstruction in the way at all, and if your'e just a few feet off center, say to the side of the room, it wont work. Super lame. I'm already back to using the xbox controller.

2 out of 5 eggsLite Weight

Pros: Nice Looking

Cons: This thing is a awkwardly small. It feels like you are holding a Popsicle stick. No media center button, need to use the "back" button to bring up the MC guide which, for me, is okay but for the fact this this thing feels like it's going to break whenever you use it.

1 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect But...

Pros: It's got a nice solid feel and a good size.
Turns my TV on/off, adjusts the volume. And that's all I want it to do as I use the XBOX as a WMC extender with a cable card tuner.

Cons: No stop button!!!!!!!!!! Who on earth decided to remove the stop button and why did anybody listen to this idiot? This one button missing makes my rating go from 4 down to 1. The stop button is that important.

Other Thoughts: It's not like they couldn't have added the stop button, there is some room on the remote. There are also a couple of redundant buttons that do the same thing. Or at the least, why not have one of the y,x,a,b buttons do stop if you didn't want to take up room on the remote for some lame reason. This should be doable with a xbox software update.
