5 out of 5 eggsUser Error. Great Product

Pros: Good sound, good signal range and strength, great mic, comfortable headset.

Cons: If you're an idiot like me you might have a hard time setting it up at first.

Other Thoughts: I was wrong in my old review. The connector for audio in will stop the 3.5mm jack JUST before the endpoint, in which case you need to force it and it will click in. 100% user error on my part. I take back my previous statements Razer. You have earned yourself a valued customer.

2 out of 5 eggsFirst and Last Time I Ever Buy A Razer Product

Pros: Comfortable, looks nice.

Cons: Where do I even start. First off, the 'Audio In' port is very fragile. I put a 3.5mm jack into it and all I get is buzzing noise through my headset. When I put it into the port, it doesn't even 'click' in like most cables do. It feels loose and of very poor quality. The only thing that works is Xbox LIVE communication via microphone. I can hear others just fine too. But even then, the headset automatically shuts off after 10 minutes of not detecting any game audio. So, it's pointless. The whole reason why I got this headset is so I can use it on my Xbox 360 and PC because I don't have speakers. I thought I would be getting a good quality product, but instead I got something that was poorly made and doesn't even work out of the box. I'm sorry Razer, but unless you can fix this, I don't see any reason for me to buy another one of your products.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset

Pros: -Great sound (for stereo)
-Great battery life so far
-Can be worn for hours

Cons: -need to buy (2) auxiliary cables to use with PC

Other Thoughts: If you're using with a PC/windows 7 and getting microphone white noise (ie. your friends are telling you there is white noise in the background) "check you mic recording levels. Vista and Win 7 microphone recording levels are generally set to a default of level of 100 or max. Please try adjusting your Mic level via your Windows settings. (Control Panel > Sound > Recordings > Sound > Microphone > Levels). Please set this level to 15-30. This should greatly reduce any static you may be hearing in the Mic.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat headset

Pros: *Very Comfortable - I can wear these for hours without any problems.
*Volume controls for mic and headphones on device.
*Auto-mic mute when mic boom is raised up
*Good battery life with replaceable batteries for long gaming sessions.
*Solid construction
*Good sound

Cons: *Had problems getting to work without static

Other Thoughts: I got these after looking at some by Creative and Logitech. The replaceable AAA batteries are a huge plus for long sessions. I had some problems getting a lot of background static when connected through my Logitech G510 keyboard, but once I moved to my computers mic input and disabled the mic boost, The static can't be heard by others. It still shows up when I record through them, but haven't had any problems while gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good!

Pros: I got this headset in April 2011.
The sound quality is better than I expected (though not on par with a wired headset). It's great for Xbox Live! gaming as well as video/audio editing.
Also, the microphone performs quite well under both gaming situations as well as Skype/WLM scenarios.

Cons: As others have mentioned, the power supply does whine, cyclically. When the unit is broadcasting, the power supply alternates between two very high-pitched tones. It can get annoying. Fortunately, any $5 off-the-shelf, 5V/1.0A power supply fits and relieves the problem.

I did notice that my WiFi was suffering a little bit after I installed this thing. But I'm also a nerd so I just moved all my routers up to 5.0GHz; problem solved. I do understand that not everybody has the means to double their local frequencies so this stays in the "cons" field.

Other Thoughts: Out of the box, they're equalized for a gaming console. e.g. light bass, boosted mids, truncated highs. They sound perfect that way. However, use them on a computer and you're going to have to whip out the ol' GEQ.

Also, as fun little side note: if the bass is too high and the volume is just right, the headset will literally bounce off the sides of your head.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

Pros: Razer
Look nice

Cons: Unless you want to only use this as a headset it's not really what it says. If you connect the wireless receiver all you will get is game audio wirelessly. You can connect it directly to your controller to get it to work as intended, but then the whole wireless aspect is thrown out the window and it will shut itself off every 10 minutes regardless. Usually Razer products are really good quality, but this is not. They obviously didn't take their time and designed it so it shuts off every 10 minutes it doesn't receive a wireless signal. Good idea in theory except when you can't even use it as a headset wirelessly and your only option is to use it wired to the controller. And then it shuts off every 10 minutes. Most annoying thing ever, seriously save your money and don't purchase these.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Never got to use them.

Cons: Got 2 pairs of the Razer Chimaera. The original and the replacements. Both had a high pitched noise coming from the power adapter. Other reviews state this as well, I thought maybe just bad pairs. When I received 2 that had the same issue I realized this was a manufacture defect. I do no recommend anyone to purchase these.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was great in supplying my RMA and return shipping labels on the defective product. Not their fault that the product was faulty. Got store credit to purchase a different brand.

3 out of 5 eggsRazer Chimaera

Pros: I bought this for my girlfriend because she often gets up and walks around the house while on the computer and it serves its purpose.

Cons: Kind of hard to find where the batteries go at first, and kind of a pain to configure/get it figured out. -1 egg
Its on 2.5GHz band which can interfere with communications/going to have to replace the batteries. -1 egg

Other Thoughts: I recommend wired headsets.
