You're given the go ahead and you throttle up, screeching down the runway and soaring nearly straight up into the sky. As soon as you clear the cloud cover, you see the enemy directly ahead and you engage. Before you can fire a warning shot across his nose, your computer alerts you to an incoming missile and you instinctively roll to the right, barely missing it. You head straight down to the ground as the enemy gives chase. Pulling up just before hitting the Earth, you begin a cat-and-mouse chase across the ground toward the city. A split-second decision has you quickly dodging a skyscraper before heading back to face the enemy head on. 1 out of 5 eggsWhat were they thinking?

Pros: It was included free of charge with my motherboard

Cons: The combat is overwhelming and hard to kill each target. The endless slew of targets and lack of scenery made it repetitive and tiresome.

2 out of 5 eggsNot the Ace Combat you expected

Pros: New game modes rather than only the jets.

Cons: AC series is known for its simple control, straight forward game play and rich story line. By now I have not finished the game yet, but it has failed the first 2 points. This is just a drastic change to a old hardcore AC fan like myself. Game menu changed, layout changed, and of course game play changed too. The fancy chopper and canon fights are just too much like other war games and the "fresh" Dog Fight Mode just takes the REAL dog fight fun away. With this new DFM, the system makes it much harder just to hit the enemy normally. Seems like it is forcing the player to keep using the DFM.

Other Thoughts: if you are new to AC series and just like war games this may be for you. But if you are like myself being a fan since the first AC, rent it first to try out before you buy.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Ace Combat

Pros: Namco seems committed to continuing the Ace Combat series, which is one of my favorites.

Cons: This is the worst Ace Combat by a mile. I'm glad I rented it because I got bored and put the controller down after about 20 minutes of play. I have days of play put into the previous Ace Combat games. Whoever thought that dog fight mode was a good idea should be sucked into a jet engine.

5 out of 5 eggspretty nice game for what it is

Pros: New planes and game modes for online.
New graphics and game engine
Brought back the Mig29
helo missions are pretty challenging

Cons: weak campaign *like the last two*
Helo missions are a headache on higher difficulty
hard to find co op missions

Other Thoughts: the reviews this game got doesnt do it any justice. Its a wonderful addition to the AC series, and any true AC fan should pick this one up and give it a try. Dont be persuaded by the purists. this game in nice, and the online is attictively fun. bout the only thing that stays in my 360 right now, lol.

5 out of 5 eggsDONT LISTEN TO THE FANBOYS. THIS GAME IS GREAT FOR WHAT IT IS.

Pros: Some planes that are a first of the AC series *t-50, SU24, SU39 and helos*
Online play is allot more diverse than AC6's. More game modes, and games are fast paced depending on strategy. ie you loose games/win games depending on who attacks/defends the bases rather than just going after kills.
has online Co Op
newer engine and gameplay, takes some getting use to.

Cons: campaign is a bit weak. Storyline isnt as good as 4, but without all the sappy nonsense of 6. Still isnt a strongpoint of the series though, as it was mostly about the planes.
Helo missions are annoyingly hard at times.
Dialogue is also a weakpoint of this game.....but thats to be expected with this

Other Thoughts: The guy that wrote the other review is one of the main reasons this AC is getting poor reviews. The game is alright for what it is. It takes a while to use to it but its fun in its own way.
Anyone that compairs this to CoD cant be taken seriously either. They see an AC130 or a blackhawk with a minigun pointed out the door and imediately thinks CoD invented those elements. Its sad that kids these days have come to compair everything to CoD like it set some type of standard. I see these types of people on game review sites all the time and non of them an contribute anything to the game cause half the time theyve only played the demo or are just crying because AC isnt in makebelieve land no more.

for those of you who want to enjoy a new take on AC, this is the game to buy. For those who want to stay in lalaland, got buy ACAH legacy and stop being such cry babies.

1 out of 5 eggsI want to break something

Pros: -Features all of the popular global jet fighters, bombers, and attack helicopters
-Decent graphics
-New elements to the Ace Combat series (see cons)
-Thats where it all ends

Cons: -Namco took some elements from Call of Duty (e.g., the chopper gunner and bombing missions) and tried to make this game a really fast-paced shooting game. The problem with that is it was cheaply done or under-developed. It's like they put this game out in a hurry.
-This game gets boring really fast; it's almost impossible to shoot down a single enemy fighter without using Dog Fighting Mode (DFM). DFM doesn't work all the time, well, plus, its mostly automatic and throws you off your intended course.
-You'll get fatigued from chasing SO MANY enemy fighters, while your so called allys just fly around and DO NOT DO A THING to help.
-Everything is either predictable or repetative.
-I've never seen so many Nukes go off; there's a Nuke exploding like almost every level.
-The story line was good, but the quality of the graphics was cheap.
-The ending was among the poorest I've ever experienced, no epic battle, just a dog fight that will have you so angry you might break the controler

Other Thoughts: Surprisngly, Battlefield 3 has a much better flight-sim version than Ace Combat.

I'm gald I rented this game, oppose to buying it, because I'm utterly dissapointed with this installment of Ace Combat. I've purchased every chapter in this series as well.

I think they're trying to take the game in a new direction, which is Great!! But the execution was poor. I wouldn't have mind waiting another year for a quality Ace Combat.

Lastly, I can't believe the reviews out there by some online gaming websites. They must have played a different game. I don't want to seem like I'm bashing this company, but rent the game before you buy it and you'll know what I'm talking about.
