3 out of 5 eggsThrustmaster TX

Pros: The force feedback felt very immersive and proper in Forza 5, as well as on several PC games such as Formula 1 2013 and Assetto Corsa.

I dare say this wheel base is the best force feedback to date and Forza 5 has the best FFB programmed into a racing game, making it the perfect match for each other.

The mounting system is quite flexible, easily clamped onto my computer table securely. It also features threaded inserts on the wheel base and pedals for mounting to a cockpit or wheel stand.

Vehicle handling in any racing game is dramatically better than using a controller, since you have 900° of rotation to work with rather than 1/2" of movement for a full wheel rotation with a controller.

Adjustable DOF comes in very useful since I can drop it down to proper spec for F1 racing or get it set to match steering in DiRT 3.

Cons: The wheel that comes with the set (Ferrari 458 wheel) is a grand touring wheel, which is meant for comfortable cruising down the highway. That means in racing scenario, it's not practical for high speed maneuvering and can cause you to lose a proper grip while turning. A round wheel is much better than the way this wheel is shaped.

When I initially took the wheel out of the box, I felt sick to my stomach because the wheel was all plastic and felt like a child's toy. Not something for a grown man to own and have any dignity.

There is a "gear" feeling when turning the wheel, which it shouldn't have since it's belt driven and electric motor.

This wheel has been out for 5 months, and there still isn't any sign of the pedals and shiftier add-ons being available for purchase.

I have a slightly negative feeling on the pedals as well. They have good resistance and are accurate, but they seem a bit cheap. Thrustmaster also limited themselves from having a clutch pedal since a Ferrari 458 doesn't have one so to keep with the theme, it's not there. Also doesn't help that the pedals that do have a clutch are still unavailable for purchase 5 months after this wheel has been released.

Other Thoughts: I returned mine until Thrustmaster can come up with a better combination of wheel rim and pedals to go with this great wheel base, or perhaps sell the wheel base separately. You can get better pedals and better rim for racing as "add ons", but it's wasted money owning the 458 wheel and pedals since they would sit in the box never used.

I do miss having this wheel set for Forza 5, however the 458 set isn't good for racing. Thrustmaster should have gone with a generic styled wheel that was round, and pedals which had a clutch pedal. Having to spend hundreds more dollars to remedy those two things is too much to ask for.

I'm leaving this product with a 3 egg "neutral" review since the wheel base is great, but the execution of making it themed off a touring car hurts driving performance in racing.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Garbage!!!!

Pros: Absolutely NONE - its worthless if you can't use it !!!

Cons: 3 purchased and all 3 were dead in 3 weeks average. 1st one dead out of the box, one died after 4 weeks and now this on is dead after 5 weeks. Newegg won't refund or replace so I'm ripped off of $375 - don't let this become your story also!!!

Other Thoughts: Why would Microsoft set it up so only one company makes a compatible steering wheel and then select the one with the worst quality. Makes the game unusable for me and thus the console not worth the nearly $500 I spent for it. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!

1 out of 5 eggsCheap

Pros: When it works the ffb is very good.

Cons: It keeps breaking.

Other Thoughts: I have gone though 5 bases and I haven't even really used any of them for that long. The longest I had one last was 6 uses. The problems are
wheel will not power on, wheel base shaft loose, makes grinding noise while turning the wheel, loses calibration wheel will be off center 30 degrees or more after a lap. This is so overpriced for what you get the rim is pure plastic and the pedals there''s no shifter or clutch pedal for $400. The thrustmaster t500rs with shifter is only $500 and it's a million times better than this plastic piece of garbage. But right now it's the only wheel for the xbox one. It's been out for 3 months now and they still haven't worked out the wheels problems. Hope that fanatec make a wheel for the xbox one soon. Do Not Buy!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Wheel for Forza 5

Pros: This wheel makes Forza 5 so much fun to drive. Very realistic feed back of the driving experience. Beats the MS 360 wheel in Forza 4 by a million!

Cons: Had issue with first unit, but the Thrustmaster tech support was fantastic! They are behind the product 100%. Nothing is perfect, and I just happened to get a bad unit. Definitely worth the wait!

Other Thoughts: I can't wait to get home from work and use this wheel in Forza 5.
I had a 5 screen setup with Forza 3-5 but took it all down when

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Wheel

Pros: Nice wheel, the design is nice. The Force Feedback is really impressive in Forza after having updating the firmware.

Cons: I have played all the weekend and it is really nice to play with the wheel rather than with the gamepad.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on arrival

Pros: None so far

Cons: Dead on arrival. No power no nothing.

Other Thoughts: First time I've ever had a defective product right out of the box. Box looked factory sealed so I don't think I got someone elses return. Shipped from Beach Audio and I see that I'm responsible for return freight. Buyer's beware. So much for a good deal. Stick with Brick and Motar companies.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Wheel, Lousy Setup and Pedals

Pros: - Nice feel
- Great force feedback
- Very expandable
- Looks awesome

Cons: - First-time driver and firmware setup SUCKS! Manual and website are beyond unhelpful. Luckily I have experience working with sucktastic installers so I figured it out. People with less technical knowledge are going to want to bring this thing back out of frustration.
- Pedals are flimsy and cheap for a $400 controller
- It costs $400
- Wish it didn't need the usb cable. It makes it hard to set up and use since my xbox is far from my table.

Other Thoughts: Got this with the racing bundle from NewEgg. On it's own I never would have purchased it. The only controller I've purchased that was anywhere near the cost of this one was when I bought Steel Battalions, and I don't play racing games nearly enough to get my money's worth from it like I did the SB controller.

However, if you love racing games, you have to have an awesome force feedback wheel, and money is not really an issue, you could do a lot worse than this controller.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Wheel!

Pros: I've tried a lot of wheels over the years: G25, G27, Fanatec turbo S, Fanatec CSR, Thrustmaster t500, Loitech Driving Force, Microsoft 360 wheel. This wheel feels much better than the old 360 wheels that Fanatec made in my opinion. I love the feel of the force feedback. The guy in the other review either had his low or did not update the firmware to v45. This wheel with Forza 5 is amazing. The G27 used to be my favorite racing wheel but the Thurstmaster TX dethroned it.

Cons: The pedals aren't the greatest (i knew that before buying) but they are making the T3PA add-on with clutch as well as the 6 speed slotted shifter. Those accessories will make the wheel even better.

Other Thoughts: A little pricey. My Fanatec Turbo S had a part go out on it and the Fanatec support was a nightmare. Had to make videos to show what was wrong. Their located in Germany so they had to mail me the part which I then had to install myself. Not the best support. I have ease of mind now if something does wrong with this wheel because Thrustmaster is a well known trusted brand.

4 out of 5 eggsAfter fiddling with the Forza 5 settings, I like it!

Pros: Very nice, strong FFB (after adjusting the settings)
All the buttons you need, and then some

Cons: Default settings have major dead zones, making it feel like a really old car's power steering, low on fluid.

Default settings also made weird grinding noises in tight left turns (maybe they would have in right turns too, but I don't think I ever hit any.)

Extremely stinky plastic and rubber. My eyes and nose are not amused.

The ability to switch between 270 and 900 degrees is not there yet, but promised for a future update. Next update is scheduled for mid-December.

The mounting holes are not in good positions for my Playseat. There's going to be a half inch gap between the edge of the base that should be sitting against the "table" and said "table", and the pedal set is going to be way higher than it should be, and if I want to rest my heels on something other than thin air, I'll have to come up with something to put there.

I will still have to try to mount the stuff, as the pedal set keeps moving, and the base doesn't have much of a grip either, hitting it a bit when climbing in or out of the seat will make it crooked.

Hate the thick soft rubber on the wheel. The leather on the GT 27 is so much nicer.

The manual doesn't describe all buttons, but it turns out that the ones it doesn't describe, don't have any functionality yet (promised in future update.)

Other Thoughts: The pedals are OK for me, better than some I've used in the past, but no where close to the GT 27 pedal set.

First thing you'll want to do when you get it, is to go into the advanced settings on Forza 5 and remove all the dead zones (6 settings.)

And, if you don't like how strong the FFB is, you may want to dial that down too, while you're at it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat wheel

Pros: Works Great, no problem with Forza 5 no dead zone issues

Cons: The pedals could be better. They need more detail on how to flash the Firmware and config Forza 5 to get the unit to work right. from the start
