5 out of 5 eggsBest Vesion Is On the Wii U

Pros: Back when Deus Ex Human Revolution was originally release I put a pre-buy on the game to get it on the release date. Loved the game. Then when I heard that they are tweaking the game for the Wii U and taking full advantage of the Wii U game pad I thought, this is brilliant. The fact that you hack computers and locked doors using the game pad give Deus Ex Human Revolution a whole new level of game play. In the game you use it to access your items, augmentations and maps. Plus any time in the game you can take a picture and link it to Miiverse if you want to show off or get stuck and need help. All right inside the menu. The even added a players guide in the menu so if your the type that don't want to hack your way through the game all you have to do is hold your stylus on the icon in the map and it will give you the code of every locked door, safe or computer. The graphics and the sound have all been improved. Plus all the added down loadable content is added that gives you about ten more hours of game play on top of the already large game. Set in a future world with mercenaries, gangs, and corporate espionage. Use you weapons or stealth your ways through the game. Hundreds of different ways to play this game. If you like Splinter Cell you will love Deus Ex I bought the XBOX 360 version and don't regret buying this game again. With the way you play it on the Wii U adds enough of a different experience to make worth my gaming dollar.

Cons: Load times can be slow but don't ruin the game in any way.

Other Thoughts: If you own a Wii U and been thinking about this game. Stop wasting your time and buy it, you won't regret it.

4 out of 5 eggsIf you never played it last gen, play it on Wii U.

Pros: Human Revolution was the resurrection of the Deus Ex name... a name synonymous with one of the greatest games of all time in many people's minds... when it was originally released across several platforms last gen. Something no one thought any developer would be able to pull off, but which Eidos Montreal did with panache by forging this excellent quasi-prequel to the original Deus Ex classic. This Wii U version is intended to be its definitive edition, and it largely succeeds at that.

This is one of the most atmospheric and engrossing games I've played in 30 years. The ambient visual style of the cyberpunk, Blade Runner infused world is dense with detail, and oozing a thick sense of "really being there." This is a future, despite its bleak implications, I'd almost want to live in for real.

A lot of games talk about choices and consequences. This game actually gives them to you. Both via dialogue options, but less visibly and more surprisingly, through gameplay decisions you make. This may not sound surprising, since the entire premise of the game is to let you employ stealth, gunplay, passivity, or force at your leisure to progress, but it's still incredibly satisfying when you ask yourself, "I wonder what will happen if I do THIS?" and then you do it, and instead of either breaking the game or nothing happening at all like in most games, you at least get a new line or two of dialogue you wouldn't have heard otherwise.

Little touches like this may sound unimportant, but they are absolutely the difference between a game that makes you feel like your choices matter, and one that promises that yet fails to deliver. This game gets it right in my opinion.

If you haven't played the game before now, you're in for a treat. If you have, but loved it enough that you know you'd enjoy a replay, this really may be the way to do it.

The game's only real criticisms the first time around were its boss fights and its out-of-sequence DLC. Here both are handsomely, if not perfectly, addressed.

Boss fights now feature alternate routes and strategies for taking bosses out without having to fire a shot, should you so desire. And The Missing Link DLC (as well as other DLC) is incorporated into the game sequentially, making for a longer, more complete experience.

Gamepad features, while perhaps not relevant for some, are well implemented. Mapping (complete with the ability to make and share map notes!) is present, as are enhanced versions of some of Adam Jensen's augmentations, making them arguably more immersive and functional than ever.

I played the game originally on Xbox 360, and I can say that the Wii U version really is a treat.

Cons: Despite looking technically superior in most ways to its last-gen predecessors due to a slight visual upgrade (new shaders, lighting, shadows, etc. although it is NOT technically an "HD reskin",) this version of the game still doesn't look THAT much better than the original. And some may miss the golden/yellow filter that covered everything in the original as well.

Boss fights, while thankfully adding new areas, approaches, and strategies, are not different in terms of actual AI, behavior, animation, etc. So the changes are more purely functional than they are dramatic. They allow you to continue roleplaying/building a stealthy or hacking character while still defeating them, rather than forcing you to engage them head-on like the original Human Revolution did. It's a much appreciated addition, but perhaps not as much as some were hoping for.

Other Thoughts: This really is the definitive version of the game, barring a strong preference for the aforementioned yellow filter. It's also a great example of a Wii U port done right. It's a shame the system is floundering at the time of this review in terms of sales, because if it weren't we might hope to see more ports of this caliber that make such excellent use of its second screen functionality.

I didn't think I'd enjoy it this much, honestly!
