12 Player NHL Collision Physics

For the first time in any sports game, real-world physics affects every player through every on-ice collision with the new 12 Player NHL® Collision Physics. Utilizing the power of the next generation consoles, and building off the critically-acclaimed NHL Collision Physics system, every player on the ice is governed by physics at all times. Feel the hard-hitting chaos of NHL hockey through true-to-life secondary collisions, net scrambles and player pileups, capturing the desperation of every shift.

Real Puck Physics

The puck is one of the most complex items in the game to authentically replicate and it finally gets its due in NHL 15. Completely rebuilt puck physics result in a more realistic feel to every puck interaction. Everything on the ice, including the ice surface itself, is live which leads to the unpredictable and authentic puck spins, rolls and bounces seen in a real NHL game.

Authentic Player & Equipment Models

The Next Generation Hockey Player has been rebuilt from the ice up. Now player models have three distinct layers - the body, equipment, and jersey. Each layer interacts independently, making every contact with the puck or other players even more realistic. Dynamic Cloth technology adds an extra layer of realism as it reacts to the player's movement as they explode up the ice, helping bring the speed of the game to life.

Unprecedented Player Likeness

Powered by the same technology that brought the most realistic representation of the athlete to EA SPORTS UFC, NHL 15 delivers groundbreaking player likeness, emotion and animation. From the strides a player takes to get up the ice to the emotion on their face after scoring a game winning goal, the players are as real as they've ever been.

Superstar Skill Stick

Now all the tools of an NHL superstar are in your hands. The revolutionary Skill Stick has evolved to give even more control to the player. Protect the puck, receive passes without breaking stride, and discover an arsenal of sweet new dekes, all with an intuitive right stick control scheme that is easy to use but packed with depth.

Authentic Arenas

There is no feeling like being there, and we are giving you the best seats in the house. The power of the next-gen consoles finally allows the NHL franchise to capture every detail of an NHL arena. Unique arena elements from 19,000+ seat capacities to lighting and player entrance tunnels are captured with a level of detail not possible on the previous generation. Now those home games will truly feel like home.

New Commentary Team

New voices for a new generation. NHL 15 welcomes the NBC Sports commentary team of Mike 'Doc' Emrick and Eddie Olczyk to the broadcast booth. TSN analyst Ray Ferraro will provide game insights at ice level. Combined with Real Life Broadcast Integration that will feature real-world pre-game video commentary with Doc and Eddie set against in-game visuals, NHL 15 takes a revolutionary step forward in sports video games; where the lines between the real world of sport broadcast and the game are blurred.

NBC Sports Game Day Presentation

The most realistic broadcast package in a video game to-date is possible because of a new partnership with NBC Sports. Set the scene with the NHL on NBC crew welcoming you to the city during the game intros and immerse yourself in an experience that matches what you see on television with NHL on NBC graphics and branding.

Living Crowds

NHL 15 sets a new standard in video games with over 9,000 individual crowd models with four times the animations of previous generations. Take a look through the glass and you'll see fans hold up signs with your name on them, costume wearing superfans, or even sections full of team rivals rooting against you. Feel their behavior change after dropping the gloves, landing a big hit, or scoring a clutch goal. The crowd is alive.

Vision AI

An elevated level of player intelligence, Vision AI features evolved awareness with players reading and reacting to potential plays. Scoring area recognition, pass anticipation, and enhanced team breakouts all improve the flow of the game.

2 out of 5 eggsElectronic Arts is trash

Pros: Game has some good checking, nice clobbering. Looks pretty good for a 1st generation new console game.

Cons: Computer player cheats to an extreme. Computer will literally mirror your every slight move at some moments when it is trying to steal the puck. It automatically gains control of the puck within a millisecond if you come near any players on the higher difficulties. There is realistic pro-level hockey in real life, but then there is just algorithms and probabilities that have no cap on them in this game. If you get a penalty and a faceoff near your goal, the probability of the computer player scoring in the next 10 seconds is about 5000%

Passing is also as dumb as ever. I will expect to pass across the opponent's goal as I hold the stick over to that side and wind up slinging the puck back to a defender just for no reason at all.

Other Thoughts: There is no excuse for Electronic Arts making trash like this. They rake in so much revenue that they should be able to develop true to life gameplay in the mathematics that work behind the scenes, not just the looks of it.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Better graphics and seems more realistic then before.

Cons: Seems like its missing 80% of the gameplay in nhl14. Also seems like there is still a lot of bugs they need to fix. Really disappointed that you can't even change player stats in off-line mode and make your own plays. Game is pretty much just a demo that you actually have to pay for.

Other Thoughts: I'm a huge EA NHL fan and have bought pretty much every EA NHL game and this is by far the worst game I've played in there series that I can remember. Just feels like they ripped me off by paying $70 bucks for the ultimate version of the game. Crazy how they feel its right to charge full price for a game that doesn't even feel like its half way done. Id say to everyone just wait till next year before you buy another EA NHL game or if you have to get it just wait till the price drops to $30 and they finally update this game so its worth at least that much. Really wish I never pre-ordered this game and just saved my money instead of wasting it on a game that's a demo. Wish I would have looked into this game and found out that it was going to be missing all the things you were able to do in NHL 14. To bad there isn't another NHL game out there because after this id never buy another EA NHL game if there was an option for something else.

1 out of 5 eggsWorse NHL game they ever made...

Pros: -Fantastic graphic upgrades for next gen.
-Awesome puck & player physics physics
-NBC TV presentation is spot on
-Living crowds in the arenas

Cons: -Unfinshed, buggy, full of glitches
-They removed 80% of the games modes found in previous MHL title - Including the basic offline season mode, and several onlibe play modes!

Other Thoughts: I will try and been unbiased and give the credit where it is do, but believe me, there is not much credit to give. The few things that EA Sports did right are fantastic, but that list is microscopic in size compared to everything they did wrong. I am taking the time to write this review based strictly on principal. I am hoping that people decide NOT to buy this title on next gen platforms and really send a message to EA that this is completely unexceptionable.

This game shows tremendous promise with the new presentation and game play upgrades that they where making. New NBC broadcasting presentation, new physics system for all skaters on the ice, new physics system for the puck, fantastic live crowds in the arenas with over 9,000 character models in those crowds... lots of fantastic upgrades. All the things that EA where hyping about this game got me super excited. Even the demo showed lots of promise!

However, when early access to Xbox One people hit, the list of game play modes and features that where taken out of the game began to grow. EA left fans with the impression only 3 or 4 major modes would be missing, but as you can see, the list at the bottom of this review shows other wise. They even removed the basic offline Season mode that has been a staple in sports games since the regular Nintendo in the 1980's and 90's for crying out loud!

I got a PS4 system crash with this game 5 times in 3 days. Error code CE-34878-0 would occur at random times during game play. I would be in the middle of a game, and it would just crash to the PS4 menu showing this error. It is the ONLY PS4 title that I have played that has done it on several occasions in such a short span. The demo did it several times as well.

Second, in the Be A GM Mode, there was no way to lock your position. Meaning you could not take control of a single position in a game, but you had to switch players to whoever was closest to the puck on the ice. This was annoying, because a couple friends and I practiced on the demo where one of us would played center, the other left wing defense, and the other right wing offense. We couldn't do that now, because locking your guy in Be A GM mode was no longer an option. Also in Be A GM mode, and this is a small gripe that isn't a huge deal, but shows EA rushed the hell out of this, but there where grammar and spelling mistakes in the menus when you would receive a scouting report!

ME A PRO is missing coach's feedback in between shifts, and you can't simulate to your next shift while you're off the ice.

This review was cut WAY down due to new egg's character limit. Do some research before buying this title and supporting the EA Cash cow!
