4 out of 5 eggsGreat Inverter for the Car

Pros: Great for Charging my phone, ipad, and Laptop
Great for road trips
Still working today and makes long trips much more tolerable

Cons: Get a power strip for it cause power outlets are close to power switch ... power bricks will get in the way!

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: Pretty quite, not to big at all and has two plug-ins. well worth the money spent and it being on sale just makes it better.. I can charge batteries and run computers from it at the same time.. its great.. thinking bout buying another for a spare since its such a great price..

Cons: Cables are short. just barly under 3 feet long and kinda makes it hard bout mounting too but its possible just gotta use some spare wire and special mounting brackets i had laying around.

Other Thoughts: longer cables and better way of mounting it.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken cigarette plug

Pros: Worked fine until I went to unplug it from the cigarette lighter plug. I have owned other brands and are priceless on long trips with kids. (to recharge games and laptops)

Cons: First time I used it it worked fine, the cigarette broke when I went to unplug it. Part is still in the cigarette outlet. I do not know what the problem is with the plug, but I have never had this problem with other power inverters.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Please contact the Rosewill support team either via phone at 800-575-9885 or via email at techsupport@rosewill.com and I'm sure that we can assist you with a replacement unit or a replacement cigarette plug.

5 out of 5 eggsONE MORE IMPORTANT thing!

Pros: Forgot to mention something that is really important.

Cons: The Interconnects for the round screw on terminals NEED STRESS RELIEFS! Hey will break Pretty fast if you do not Secure them somehow, Easy fix really, but of all those that I have had in the past, this is a weak point and can be bad news if the positive terminal hits the unit.

Use Duct tape, in a pinch, or do it right and get some real terminals from new egg that can take the abuse.

Other Thoughts: This is the other thing I forgot to mention why you should really just not use the 12v plug. This is not limited to just this unit. Almost all of the Screw on type leads have this issue. Just trying to save some of you from my mistakes in the past.
Sorry for the double post,

5 out of 5 eggsHard wire this puppy and get it 14.4V

Pros: This thing works great with modern portable electronics. Does put out a real 110V to use under load unlike some other ones from Harbor Freight. This is a good deal and has a real heat sink. Course, I have never seen one of these get really hot. So Really good safeguard in hot weather.
Can push a 500W halogen light, See Other thoughts

Cons: Not for use on one of those new PF correlation power supplies. They do not do well with a square wave.

Wires are still kind of small for this thing that come with it, but work just fine.

Does work pretty well at 12V, but not with the cigarette lighter. Maybe if you have one of those BEEFY ones, but I have not had much luck with avoiding the low voltage alarm. This has nothing to do with the unit. These car plugs just are not up to the task of powering this bad boy.

Other Thoughts: You want to get the most out of this thing, GET IT 14.4 volts if you want to use the stock wire.

Most Cigarette lighters are not up to the task to give you even 12 volts under load. This is not a issue if you are just going to run small loads of of this thing.

If you want it to last a long time, (and it will) wire this puppy in like you would a car amp.

The other key thing to mention is to unplug your device's from the converter before power-cycle the unit. Doing this will ensure that it lasts for years with out issue.

This will do a full 400W total load IF:
You give it 14.4 Steady volts,
A stable supply of Amps, (can use as much as 34 Amps)

Under full load start up, I have seen this unit Pull a 70 Amp Spike!

FYI, A typical car battery with this thing on 3/4 load will last about hour at best before the voltage drops to low.

5 out of 5 eggsAn fyi to users

Pros: Please Read Other thoughts

Cons: Please Read Other thoughts

Other Thoughts: People have been mentioning that they've had issues with beeping when your not pulling the supposed max 400w rms. But some power inverters have a warning beep that sound because the proper voltage is not being given to inverter via ur car battery. I dont know about this model but others beep to let you know that because it may mean your car battery is going dead. Try starting the vehicle so the alternator can also provide power and see if the beep continues before assuming the unit is bad. I hope this helps. (I do not own this unit but have owned others so this may or may not apply thats why i'm suggesting to the individual owners to test with the vehicle running)
