4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: QUIET! Nice packaging, 6 gb RAM, 1 TB HDD. i3 is not a powerhouse but it is zippy enough. 1080p blu-ray rips look perfect; it WILL process 24p correctly when using the latest Intel drivers.

Cons: Windows hesitates to boot for some reason--doesnt quit, just stalls for a minute or so on Windows logo screen. No wireless built in (not a big deal for me, I have a hard line close by). Blu-ray reader and wireless keyboard/mouse would have been appropriate for this price.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for one reason only: to play or stream hi-def blu-ray rips. It plays hi-def content wonderfully. I read that the integrated i3 graphics could not properly play back 24p hi-def content, but I have not encountered this issue. It will also send out proper hd audio signal (dts-hd, dolby true-hd) to a receiver using Power DVD 10 (just make sure u use the latest intel graphics/audio driver and the latest PDVD patch).
I had trouble streaming 1080p content over a gigabit network, it would get stuttery/choppy. I downloaded the latest NIC driver from Realtek and it seems to have cleared it right up.
All in all, this does what I need and a little more. Having an HTPC with this capability and being so quiet really rounded out my home theater experience.

1 out of 5 eggsDead

Pros: I wish there was some pros

Cons: Dead out of the box. plugged it in, pressed the power button & nothing happens, no sound no fan spin up no light.

Other Thoughts: i checked cmos jumper configurations and nothing is out of the ordinary, this PC is just DOA. additionally the RMA page says this product is not eligible for RMA. yeah we will see about that during call hours tomorrow.

3 out of 5 eggsMini ITX

Pros: Core i3 and Intel HD graphics are plenty to handle web pages and household use. Boatload of USB ports. Win7x64 is a huuuuuge improvement on Vista. On time delivery in good condition--good packaging. This thing fits most anywhere with the Mini ITX form factor.

Cons: Mini ITX means an oddly shaped power supply that would be difficult to upgrade. The Delta Electronics 220 that ships seems underpowered, and mine is very noisy. Not NewEgg's fault, but Acer America support still costs an egg because that's where NewEgg support referred me for help.

Other Thoughts: Acer's fix would be to ship the entire unit to a depot for PSU replacement--they don't consider a power supply to be an end-user replaceable part. Acer America support seems to lack knowledge of their product line (they kept referring ot my 'notebook power supply'), offers only broad troubleshooting suggestions not related to the issue at hand, and doesn't seem willing to move from the script.
For instance, they said to reset BIOS to default settings...for a noisy PSU? I just wanted a replacement PSU...they insist I ship the whole thing back and go without for 7 to 10 business days--not happening.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh expecations until I turned it on.

Pros: I was looking forward to testing out the i3, the 6gb of ram, etc. however I wasn't granted the pleasure of getting past the boot logo.

Cons: *power button pressed*
Boot logo, followed by
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

Info: Windows failed to load because the kernal is missing, or corrupt.

Not even safe mode boots. Enough said.

Other Thoughts: I love newegg, I recommend them to the world however this is just unacceptable. I'm pretty sure it's not newegg's fault but when you turn on a computer you just bought you want it to at least get to desktop.
Maybe it's Acer, maybe it's MSFT. Either way I'm furious.
I am really heartbroken to have to post a terrible review. I hope to edit this in the next few hours, I am going to try to install my own copy of Windows 7.

Sorry, newegg...

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome pc

Pros: Hd playback strong processor good amount of ram. I don't understand why anyone would complain about the ram slots being full. Pc can be upgraded easily to be a decent gaming pc.

Cons: Low wattage power supply and not being able to install a double slot low profile graphics card only capable of single slot.

Other Thoughts: I installed a sapphire 5570 video card and it runs beautifully most newer games. I'm installing a core I7 in this baby and hopefully it will run with this small psu. I also installed an asus wireless card and it made this pc perfect

5 out of 5 eggsgreat compact desktop

Pros: i did a good deal of research for a high-powered, yet small computer, that was within my budget. This one seemed to be the best, and I've been very pleased.

Cons: all the ram slots are filled, i may need to replace the 2 x 1GB modules at some point to max out the machine at 8GB ram. 6GB should work though for the time being though.

Other Thoughts: I made some after-market enhancements to get more speed and performance. I added a SAPPHIRE 100253HDMI Radeon HD 4650 video card, which fit snugly and works perfectly with the limited power supply. I also replaced the HD with the SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 320GB, and have been able to achieve speeds close to SSD at a fraction of the price. I would recommend both of these upgrades (totaling < $100). It was surprisingly easy to replace the hard-drive, given how compact everything is.
