2 out of 5 eggsdecent for price.

Pros: great size.

Cons: lacks in ports only 4 usb ports and 2 are on the front. has 2gb ram included. and with that good luck running your comp with multiple programs running without pulling your hair out. have fun trying to put in more it says expandable. but.... one computer later and 300$ later i am kicking my fanny wishing i payed the extra 100-150 for a better system..

Other Thoughts: newegg had great customer service and i love that. but acer on the other hand i would rather never buy from them again. muhammed did not help at all. and didnt seem to care he was making me more mad than happy getting off the phone.

5 out of 5 eggsRead the specs

Pros: Inexpensive. Well built. Get this unit, replace HDD with a SSD, add a 2 GB ddr 3 stick, and you have a blazing fast general purpose WIN 7 machine for not too much money. Add an Acer flatscreen, and this works just fine.

Cons: Yes folks, 3 screws to remove drive cage. Yes if you want to modify ram, you got to take out 3 screws. Wow, what a tough task. If this is too much, then go elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: Seems that you can get this a Newegg for under 3 bills if you want to.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid - bad news on this one

Pros: Cheap, not much bloatware

Cons: * most 2G DDR3 memory upgrades do not appear to work. Talked to Acer they do not have any qualified memory list and have no idea of what brands and part number work. Their support is useless.
* Has GDDR-3 labeled memory from factory in standard memory socket. Thought GDDR was only for graphics
* Defective keyboard. They kept trying to tell me it was my USB port. I pulg other brands in and it works fine, just the acer keyboard had the issue. They finally sent me a new one and it worked fine.
* Only 2 USB ports so I had to use the mouse port and with a usb converter. They must use a non-standard mouse as the Acer mouse will not work but a Logitech mouse works fine.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line, if you get one for basic browsing it might be ok but not all that great for anything else. Cross your fingers on Acer quality control as well. I will not be buying another Acer product.

3 out of 5 eggsBad Acer Support/Documentation

Pros: The computer is inexpensive and is probably good value for money.

Cons: I wanted to add a 2gb stick of Ram. The computer didn't come with any user manual so I assumed that I could find instructions on adding ram in a downloadable manual online. No. Even finding the manual takes ages. Then I assumed that the instructions must be in the *service manual*. No. There is no service manual that you can download.

I was on chat with ACER for 15 minutes when I realized that not only the first guy who was trying to help, but also his supervisor were unfamiliar with the model and were basically reading from an inaccurate service manual - available for them, but not for us. Neither of them knew that there's THREE screws, not two, that are holding the drives in place that obscure the ram sockets.
I had to discover that third screw.

One hour wasted! The tech support were of no help. These instructions should be easily available in a downloadable manual you can locate quickly.

Other Thoughts: The computer and other items arrived super fast - Newegg is excellent when it comes to prompt shipping and delivery.

4 out of 5 eggsSome limitations, not a bad computer though

Pros: - Relatively little bloatware came pre-installed
- nice design: small-ish, black, clean, tidy... not bad.
- worked out of the box, no problems
- got this as an open-box newegg special (for VERY cheap), it came in 100% perfect condition, all accessories, etc. perfect.

Cons: My main disappointment was when it came to adding a new video card: I forgot to look into power requirements, and found out the hard way this computer only has a 220W PSU. Rolled the dice on a Radeon 5450, which is a super-low consumption model (, and it's working fine.

However, this computer still had one more trick for me: I might be mistaken, but I think the mobo disables the onboard video if you provide another video card; now that I've added my new card, there's nothing under Device Manager -> Display Adapters except for the new card I added. So it's possible I'm missing something, but whatever. Kinda annoying, I've got 2 VGA-connection monitors, so I had to literally thread the VGA dongle that would normally be attached to the full-profile card bracket out the back of the slots, so it's just hanging there, outside the box... it's not pretty, but again, whatever: I've got a dual-monitor setup now, that was my goal. Still though - what's the reasoning behind disabling the onboard video? Not sure I'm right on that, but it sure seems that way. Woulda been nice to just use the one slot on my new card, and the existing video from the mobo.

Also, UPS: I ordered this with the free 3-day shipping, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving week. So figuring that Monday is day zero, I assumed I'd have this on Friday, since Thursday was Thanksgiving. But no - UPS only ran limited operations on Friday (no ground or 3-day pickup/deliveries), so I had to wait until the following Monday to receive it, a full 8 days after ordering. Maybe I'm being a little whiny here, but it was a bit annoying to go to the UPS website and see messages about how "We'll get your holiday packages there quick!", and yet they're running limited operations on a non-holiday, so they're employees can have a long weekend. I dunno, I feel for the working man, but I thought that was kinda lame.

Other Thoughts: This rig is intended to be mostly for Skype & web browsing, and although the hitches with the video card were a little annoying and took me some time to figure out, I'm pretty happy with the end result. And again: Newegg open-box came through like a champ. Pretty annoyed with UPS though, I hate the fact that they just throw their lower-end customers under the bus on holidays. I will definitely remember that.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: Works Fine with 2gig Memory. Not hard at all to upgrade to 4gig. 1 2gig stick cost about 11 bucks. Dont know what everyone else is complaining about. Have bought about 7 of these.

Cons: Only 2 usb ports on back. (does have 2 more in front)

3 out of 5 eggsThank Goodness, a review solved my prblem!

Pros: It worked on arrival, was what I expectred, a decent sheap wortk computer with no fancies on it.

Cons: I also ordered a four GB stick to bring the 2 GB of RAM up to 6 GB rather than the 8 GBs it was listed as capable of using. I hate throwing away RAM or worse storing it and never using it. I am glad to read the problrem as I am the technician and neve got that continuous tone before. I had no problem taking the drive box loose and getting to the RAM, popping the fronty cover off was easier than most.

I RMA'd the first 4GB stick of RAM after trying it alone, and in the second slot with the 2 GB that the computer came with. I tried it alone in both slots. Would not work anywhere aven as 4 GB alone. So I reinstalled the stock 2 GB and RMA'd it as I said above and ordered another brand, same thing. I juist came ghere to call and find out ewhat the deal is from NewEgg feeling like I made a mistake in type of RAM. Now what I suspected turns out to be true. This computer will only work with a max of 2 GB in eash slot! It will not boot and gives the steady tone with any combination other than 2X2GB or 1X 2GB. It might work with 2X1GB but I am trying to speed it up not slow it down.

Other Thoughts: This cvomputer will not take anything but 2 GB sticks of RAM, don't order any 4 GB sticks!

Other than looking incompetent to my customers and thinking thet the Acere was bad, this is a decent cheap workstation.

I just wish that they had mentioned not only that it only takes a max of 4 GB of RAM instead of the 8 they originally said. And that it won't handle more than 2 GB per slot.

I now do not feel guilty with two RAM RMAs.

4 out of 5 eggsATTN: Revised review. Newegg customer service made good on customer satisfaction

Pros: Newegg restored their customer service prowess.
I was not satisfied with how they handled the "technical spec" misrepresentation so I felt impelled to speak to a higher level manager.
Duane was very undestanding and helpful in restoring what I had felt was Neweggs good customer service. The spec has been modified and I am relatively happy now. THANKS DUANE!

Cons: Acer's help in this matter is non exsistent.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS SYTEM! Tech specs are wrong and Newegg and ACER will leave you holding the bag.

Pros: Nice little machine. Built well. For the one guy that complained about ease of upgrade, you are right.
ACER is negligent in documentation. Generic manual only. You need to snap off the front panel, remove the DVD/HDD cage and then you can access the 2nd RAM slot.

The mainboard in the machine is an ECS (Made for ACER) G41T-AD.
I ordered a Crucial 4Gb x 2 kit to upgrade to 8Gb.
Hard P.O.S.T error (solid beep).
Tried 1 stick, other stick different slots - no change.
Reinstall 2Gb stick - no problem.
Tried flashing BIOS - no luck.
Did research and found this mainboard will not support 8Gb.
Normally Newegg customer support is good but they really disgusted me in how they handled this.
First I am on hold for what seemed like forever while I was waiting to be transferred to their higher level technical support.
Finally the guy gets back on and says there is nothing they can do about it. Can't talk to the support team, take the misrepresentation of product and deal with it.
THE END FOR NEWEGG AND I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted them to acknowledge the error in spec and save their reputation in addition to another customer not having to go through this.
I spent hours of my time trying different combinations of placement, flashing the BIOS and then ultimately research to conclude what is going on.
Very indifferent and non caring.

2 out of 5 eggsNot easily upgradeable

Pros: Compact design, very easy on budget, reasonably powerful, works out of the box

Cons: Difficult to upgrade because of limited space in case.

Other Thoughts: For example, according to the specs, the machine has two slots for ram of up to 4 GB each of DDR3. As shipped only one slot has 2 GB. Both slots are under the DVD drive which in turn is block by the CPU cooler.
Is there a way of upgrading the ram without taking off the CPU cooler and DVD drive? Are there any instructions on the Web because there was only a generic users manual at the Acer site.
