5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: 1) It's lasted for many years now (lost track at some point, I think it's 5 years old). Severely impressed with that. The only thing that's not original in the system is the PSU. Old one failed recently so I bought a Rosewill AP550 and changed it out. Everything else has been running exceptionally well.

2) Gaming! I didn't think this tower would be very good as far as gaming is concerned, but golly was I wrong. Very nice.

Cons: It overheats easily. The case and stock fans do a poor job of circulating air. Personally, I think the case design is pretty terrible.

Other Thoughts: My parents bought this system new years and years ago, and it's still running strong. Not sure I'd buy it for an $800 price tag myself, but for that kind of money I'm completely impressed with how long it has lasted.

2 out of 5 eggsGood but not so good...

Pros: Nice PC......I have one that was handed down to me. The built in features make it good for a HTPC which is what I use it for. IR sensor built in the one I got. Even though it is not compatible with Windows Media Center (they want you to use a USB one). I'm using it with a Core 2 Duo. The quad that came with it blew out so I got another off the auction site and put in another PC. The swap HD bays are great.

Cons: The original reason why I got the thing was due to having overheating issues and I saw it easier to just build another one for the client. This model is known for overheating issues. The thing is also very temperamental as to what memory you put in it so be careful. If it doesn't like the memory it will either not turn on (I prefer that.) or turn on with fans moving that is it. It wont boot.

5 out of 5 eggs4 Years and running

Pros: I have had this beast for 4 years now, purchased and have only had one problem, "in the cons". I play WoW, Black Ops1, Mw3, LoL, and D3. I have not replaced anything on this badboy and i still run movies and games at the same time pulling 30fps or more on games. 60fps when not watching movies. The quad core is amazing for its time, and the GPU was and still is competitive with average gamers. I love gateway products just not gateway customer service.

Cons: GPU had trouble overheating due to lack of case fans, added 2 fans 1 8mm and 1 12mm and no problems since.

Other Thoughts: A great computer even to this day, I am looking at upgrading finally the CPU to an 8 core, and I just purchased the XFX black 7770 GPU. Ill know if it meshes well in 4 days when it gets here.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Decision

Pros: The case is a nice piano black, so it looks nice. I had trouble with the pop up USB port gizmo not staying closed, but it started working again.

Cons: The power supply caused some problems, so I replaced it. Now it Blue Screens about every 3 days, sometimes more often. I've taken out RAM and swapped it around, still core dumps. I am now going to replace the motherboard and put in a new CPU, buy better RAM, so basically like a new computer. I will never ever buy a Gateway computer again. Better to build your own.

Other Thoughts: Cheap components, $800 down a rathole.

4 out of 5 eggsnot the best but its up there for store bought units

Pros: well it very powerful, more ram than i really needed, an actual graphics card not that onboard junk, alot of very good stuff too it, now granted its not the best pc out there even at that time but when it comes to store bought pcs its the best between them its still way better to just shop newegg and build your own thats what i plan on doing once this puter puts out its last bit of code

Cons: it does run a bit hot being that it only has one fan and thats on the processor no case fans at all but the power supply keeps you from adding some anyways i have never had any over heating issues on this unit i leave it on all the time
the other con is its a locked board you cant do any thing to it but put faster ram, better graphics card and of coarse you need a better power supply but thats about it cant change ram to ddr3 only ddr2 it comes with 800mhz could go to 1066mhz but its pricy

Other Thoughts: im actually doing this review on it as we speak, i only play world of warcraft on it so it works really good on it
im fixin to work on it a little id like to put an ssd to run windows and wow only so it loads faster and get rid of other programs that are hogging memory

1 out of 5 eggsNever again

Pros: Machine DOA so I cannot say.

Cons: This is my last Gateway. I have owned about 20 over the last 30+ years. While the original problem was technical, I have spent hours talking to a group of off-shore folks who only follow a script and quote company policy. The company is no longer the Gateway I had come to love. After finally concluding that I was right and that the machine would not work, I was told to return the computer to Texas for repair. I was told that the cost to send it would be mine (company policy). I have tried unsucessfully to talk to a customer representative (not a service tech). Aside from the language problems, there is apparently no one willing to talk to me other than a service tech who has no authority to waive the charges. Gateway once was a great company with wonderful service. No more.

Other Thoughts: It may be understandable for a company to require a customer to pay to return a non-functioning product if it dies after a couple of months but to require him to pay to return a product that arrived broken is unconscionable. If anything, the company should appologize for sending a broken product and pay all costs associated with its repair. To send the 33 pound computer to Temple, TX, cost $42.20. While this is not a fortune, it is the principle of the thing. It is also more than frustrating to deal with only an IVR system with no exit to a person who can actually make decisions. Even when I asked to talk to someone in the US, I was given a phone number which called - the off-shore technical support. What a surprise.

1 out of 5 eggsA bunch of bad eggs!

Pros: Hands down this would have been the best deal on any desktop for the price. The media controls are nice and the expansion capabilities are fair for a prebuilt machine. Aside from looking at it and all its potential that is where the Pros end.

Cons: 2 failed machines would be probably the largest con of the all.

The 1st one failed even before I could create my windows user ID. So after spending several hours on the phone with Gateway support, they told me to return/exchange the machine at the place I purchased it from. After boxing the first one up, returning it and receiving computer II, I decide to give it a go again.

Unpack, plug in, hit power button... NOTHING! The second one performed even worse than the 1st. So there I was packaging up my second LX6810 in less than 24 hours. Needless to say that was the last LX6810 I was bringing home.

Other Thoughts: After some talking with my computer guy at the store he recommended that I purchase the LX4710 and throw in 2 more GB of ram and call it a day.

That is where I am at right now. I might have had to make some sacrifices in terms of "sexy" and a graphics card but I feel as though I got a better computer at less of a price. In terms of all the toys, like the SATA expansion slots, do yourself a favor and look at how flimsy they are held in there. Your expansion drive will shake while it is spinning at 7,200 RPMs and in turn cause it to fail much quicker.

The LX4710 has room for 4 more SATA drives inside, 2 of which you can plug right into the motherboard. All inside a case that is only 2/3 the size of the LX6810.

Do yourself a favor, buy the LX4710. Get some Ram and another hard drive if 640gb is not enough and crack the thing open, I think you would be surprised at how little mystery there is to a PC. If still nervous consult youtube.

5 out of 5 eggsHome Office Gem!!

Pros: Really easy set-up and blazing fast!! Replaced my 5 year old Dell and all I can think is why did I wait so long?? Runs multiple applications with ease. I have Vista on my laptop so I am ok with the fact that this system comes with Vista. Once you disable a few things Vista is no problem...especially on this machine.

Cons: It has been 30 days and so far nothing to complain about. I did purchase a wireless keyboard and mouse to replace what comes standard with this system. They were ok but keyboard did not have a caps lock light which was annoying.

Other Thoughts: OK, seriously...who designed the pop-up door on top of the case. Great idea...poor execution. To open it for the first time I had to use a credit card to pry it open. Now that its open there is no reason to close it...ipod and blackberry always connected to the USB ports. Otherwise it would be a bit frustrating.

4 out of 5 eggsA Great Deal!

Pros: This computer is fast, it responds fast to new commands, allows an insane amounts of multi-tasking, and runs most programs flawlessly even when multi-tasking.

A Quad-core CPU, 8GB of ram, actual graphics card, and a TV Tuner all included.

Memory-Card reader, and touch control panel are very nice additions.

2 Front-loading Sata hdd bays.

Good pc for most gamers, most modern games will run at medium-high or above with no impact to performance what-so-ever.

Included remote for TV-Tuner control.

Case looks nice.

Cons: Flip/down panels are cheaply made, they require considerable push to unlock/lock, and fell like the will break everytime there opended or close, I just leave them open.

Touch-panel doesn't always respond, and may require several taps to "figure-out" what to do.

Computer doesn't come with a rear-facing 120mm fan, I recommend purchasing one to help cool the pc.
PC is quiet because it's missing a 120mm fan.

PC Could have a few more usb ports.

Other Thoughts: I recently had to purchase a new PC for my non-techie family, they prefered I buy them a brand-name pc rather then a home build one, so after much consideration so I decided on this one.

They wanted to do some gaming, mostly shooters and mmo's, surf the net, watch the ocassional movie, and not experience slowdown or poor performance, my brother also loves picture and video editing.
This PC was all they could have asked for, and a bit more.

For most pc buyers, this pc is equipped for all your needs, and does an excellent job in all respects.

Much praise to gateway for delivering a PC this powerful at a great price.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast. Quiet. Plays everything I've thrown at it at a good pace. Best package for the price that I've been able to find with enough expandability to keep most people happy for a while.

Cons: The 2 pop-out compartments are annoying...have to push really hard to get them opened and closed. Really needs USB ports in front that are always available, or available next to the sound plug-ins.(the front pop out compartment)

Other Thoughts: The 2 front drive bays make me need to find HD's to put in them just cause they're there!
