5 out of 5 eggsGood Enough...Could be better

Pros: 1.Fast
2.Large Capacity HD
3.Sweet Graphics Card
4.Cool Features

I would like to start off by saying this is a very good computer for the price but there is a couple cons (but ill get to that later). First some people may not know that this has external lights like a ordinary gaming computer (i do believe this was not in the description). The lights come on in the top left and right corners and can be turned on or off by the silver nob on around the power button. Second its very fast...going with it is 16GB of RAM and the new Intel I7 Quad core processor @2.8 Ghz
Third, like all new PCs, it has the New Windows 7 O/S which a considerably leap from Windows Vista in terms of convenience and stability. Lastly this computer is very quiet and stays relatively cool. Just as a side note: For people wandering about the Blu-Ray player..There is software that comes with the computer that enables you to play it. Just be sure to have a 1080p monitor and the proper HDMI cable for maximum aff

Cons: Hmmmmm....Well for one its not the best computer out there. Funny? You would think that for 1700$ you could have the best of the best...The processor is a little slower than it should be. They could have out the newer models of the Intel I7 in this model and than it would perfect. but Hey I'm a guy that puts PCs to the test! I don't settle half way..ALL my games have maxed out settings (COD4) (WOW) but hey? You dont half to max them out I just do. Anyway back to the computer... There is annoying flashy white loading light that blinks about every second {Located in front of the computer below the SD card reader} (Note: That this is not a problem if you don't have this computer in a bedroom or on while trying to sleep). Windows 7 is still glitchy (Also Note that this is not the computers fault). Its not as bad as Windows Vista but it is still quite annoying. Other than these simple flaws this computer is great!

Other Thoughts: Well I know by now you are probably tired of reading my long review but i just wanted to make things clear before you buy. 1700$ is a lot to spend on one item. Overall Gateway(Owned by Acer) makes some quality computers. o! and i forgot to mention in the cons section that this computer has a Seagate HD...this particular HD has a high failure rate. I would either recommend getting a backup HD or replacing this one. Your HD may not fail but it might? The way I see it..Its like flipping a coin...This Seagate HD could last your lifetime or It could crash within a couple seconds. I decide!

Thank You

1 out of 5 eggsBe careful of the Hard Drive

Pros: It worked flawlessly at first right out of the box.
It worked for about 2 days. I was in love with it

Cons: Be careful of the hard drive.
This is what it comes with: Model: ST31500341AS (seagate)

I was lucky that I did not have to perform a firmware update. But two days into my ownership of this computer, the harddrive has started clicking and it has crashed this computer about 4 times today already. The drive gets incredibly hot. And after it runs for a while, I can detect a slight rubbery burning odor coming from the drive. Needless to say, I have already pulled all my data off this drive and am just counting the days until it fails. I have not decided how to proceed with my computer... Do I RMA it? Or is this the last time I deal with Newegg and desktop computers?

Please look at this thread:

These are the reviews of said hard drive. You can also Google the model number to see all the problems Seagate drives have had. Apparently the failure rate is incredibly high, and I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones.

5 out of 5 eggsThis system is a beast!!!!!

Pros: The system can undamaged and booted up with no problems. Did the standard setup and updates. Got Modern Warfare 2 loaded and played online last night. Had all the settings maxed out and this system didn't have any problems.

Cons: The case is a little too shiny for me (but who cares for the price). The hard drive is the bottleneck on this system, going to get a new one in a couple of weeks. A lot of gateway programs that I had to take off (but once again for the price it worth taking the time to remove them).

Other Thoughts: Video Card is very nice, may change it out for a higher card down the road, will also have to change the power supply at that time. 16MB of ram is very nice.

My only worry was when reading reviews that the system out of the box may not work or something may be broke on it, but all my fears were unfounded.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome performance - not just for gaming!

Pros: Just take a look at the specs. Don't do games with my rig so deleted most of the bloatware that comes with the unit. My primary use is website and graphic design. Big tip of the hat for those that run dual/triple monitors (you can do that with this rig's graphic card no problem). Here are the Windows Experience indicators: Processor - 7.5, Memory - 7.5, Graphics - 7.7, Gaming Graphics - 7.7, Primary Hard Disk - 5.9.

Cons: None really, just had to spend a little time deleting most of the "bloatware".

Other Thoughts: Was able to migrate most of my existing files and programs over to Windows 7 from XP-SP3 without a hitch. If you are planning on migrating any programs over from previous Windows OS type, recommend you first check out the Windows 7 64-bit compatibility reference chart on Microsoft's website, might save you some headaches during the migration process as some programs are not compatible with Windows 7 (i.e. Photoshop 7).

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: fast computer out of box. lots of memory, looks cool. plenty of usb ports in back, the two expansion bays right up front will make it easy to add on if needed. love the HDMI output right to my tv and looks good on it. the screen doesnt look stretched out or anything like what the old computer did. My main game is WOW and it runs perfect with all the settings maxed. Going to try a bigger game like Crysis next, but sure will run great. surprised on how quiet it is. thought it was going to be a little loud but I can barely hear it humming.

Cons: not really a con, just a fact about the computer. It is big and has some weight to it. I cant put it in the computer desk I have now.

Other Thoughts: I dont know if im going to be the only one. But the 1st shipment came like a day early which was cool. but then when I tried booting it up I got nothing. The power light came on and that was about it.So I called tech support. I could barely understand what she was saying. After about an hour of talking to her, I finally convinced them that there was something wrong with the computer and was able to ship it out for repair. After about 1 1/2 weeks i got it back with a letter saying that they had to replace the video card. So I hooked and booted it up and it worked. In the end there tech support did the job and got it fixed. But its the fact that I bought a high end computer and it didnt even work that gets me. I would think they would test a computer before they shipped it out.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A good value for the price. This is my review and now my data bases move pixs like CT scans or MRI scan much better. Cheaper than a workstation !!

Cons: HD- Windows Experience raing of 5.2 is much lower than the 7,5 for the other parts. Fix: was 2 Muschkin enhanced 64 GB SSD drives from newegg. Windows Experience is now 7.2. (Thr Raptor 10,000 rpm drive only improved the rating to 5.7, so I knew I need SSD raid o) Still wonder way Gateway / Acer stinted the HD so much.

Other Thoughts: Nice to shop one store for all the parts I needed

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Buyer :)

Pros: Great price for the features included.
Gateway is a long established system provider.

Cons: None todate

Other Thoughts: Ok, I’ve had this system for nearly 2 weeks and am now ready to comment. I ordered this system (along with and an Asus VE246H monitor to go with) the evening of Monday, March 1st with the Standard Shipping and received it Wednesday morning March 3rd. That is what I call fast, both packages arrived in good order as well, thank you NewEgg.

I am very pleased with the system design and set-up was easy. As far as performance goes the system has handled everything I have tried with it, including double-boxing WOW. I would highly recommend this system for those who, like my self, do not have the time or desire to build our own.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value for your money

Pros: Nice powerpack, suited to play the newest games on high settings.
No issues so far. Everything runs smoothly as expected.
Loving it!
I like the design with the on/off button and USB ports at the top of the front and a little department that can hold memory sticks/cards. Well thought through.

Cons: I wish there was some documentation around the video card included, but it's not hard to google that.
To actually use Eyefinity on 3 monitors I had to buy a display port to DVI adapter for 100$. Well worth it though.
Also I dont like the practice of having you pull the backup for system restore yourself. I'd prefer if it came on DVD.

Other Thoughts: This is the 3rd Gateway I bought.
Again a high quality product. I'm very happy with the brand.
You get a lot more for your money than what you get from Dell or HP.
Initially I was looking at the FX6831-01, but when I checked memory prices, I found this to be the better deal.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Few Problems, but not computer

Pros: As stated on 3/3/2k10 nothing changed

Cons: Still can't find any

Other Thoughts: If you read my review under "Ira" on 3/3/2010", i can add a little more to my review of this Machine, or actually the software installed on this machine. A rough approximation in % as to what installed properly and what not.
About 90% of the programs installed on this computer "VIA" Actonis Backup and Universal Restore" opened and performed as if nothing had changed from HP to Gateway"
About 10% of the programs had to be reinstalled because of how they activate and an example could be MAYAYA 2010 because of change of Network Address, also Autodesk 3DS had to be installed again.
No change in Adobe CS4, MS office 2k7, a few Video editing programs from Sony required reinstalling while others from Sony worked perfectly.(?) Video editing showed little use in CPU and RAM usage 5%/16%.
Usage spent was about half a day to make sure programs were working properly or reinstalling.
An example of listening to xm radio while i am typing this review_CPU Usage 3%_RAM Usage 9% Thats my 2c$
