Pros: My Windows Vista Performance now is 5.0 by doing the following upgrades.Change power supply to 500w,upgrade graphics to GE force 9500 gt,added memory to 4gigs, overclocked my cpu to 2.2 ghz for now.Wow what a difference in performance. This computer has a great potential for upgrades.

Cons: Minor inconvinience when ejecting optical drive.

5 out of 5 eggsNICE!

Pros: its fast. i added some stuff of my own and it didnt reject anything i threw at it :) added nvidia geforce 9600gt and 3 extra hard drives. runs games fairly well. i was suprised when i played oblivion on highest graphics (for all u oblivion fans even qarls texture pack didnt doc too much fps) with no problems. also updated psu 500w so dont go cramming the 9600gt without checking. sumhow i find it hard to believe its 2.1ghz cuz i was running a 3.0ghz and it didnt run this well. overall want a cheap computer for small gaming and everyday tasks... buy it :)

Cons: bloatware.(easy fix took me 5 mins to remove) and the disk drive button. small case but it wasnt meant for upgrades XD

Other Thoughts: moving all this into a newer case :)

i know its not that big a deal to most to upgrade the case but i got a big card and a lotta hard drives and cd drives i could install so for me the extra space is needed.

5 out of 5 eggsgrab it

Pros: Dual core Processor, 3gigs of ram with 4 total slots ( 1 empty ) 320 g hard drive and a decent on board graphics card makes it well worth the buy for the price I couldn't find a better deal, especially if you just want to surf the net, and/or download music/movies. Even has a PCI-E slot for a graphics card if you wanted to run more fps for games. I have a similar system I built and had alot more money into it than this one, granted I bought a pricey Graphics card and Power supply too. The Card reader is nice. Shipped and delivered within 2 days. Everything works, has bloatware but most systems do. This system really regained some confidence in eMachines. For those on a low budget I would def get this. I added a 17" wide HannsG Moniter too. The whole package just works well. Also another expansion bay if you wanted to add a Blue Ray Player/burner.

Cons: The Eject button for the DVD drive is hard to see and you have to push the drive back with your hand because it covers the button when you open it. That is really annoying and there is some Bloatware too but that is easily done away with.

4 out of 5 eggsGood PC for basic usage

Pros: I purchased this computer for a family member who is not very computer savvy, who previously had a 1 Ghz Ahtlon Micron PC (when they existed) running Windows ME. Obviously, this is a huge upgrade to that, almost regardless of how it performed. But after spending a few days with it getting it ready for them and using it for some basic tasks to ensure everything is ok, I've been pretty impressed by this machine. Minimal Bloatware (around 5 programs that I got rid of), and some of it could be useful for some users (trial of Office 2007, for example).

The memory card reader is a nice touch. Some computers still do not come with them, but they make it much easier to move media around than needing usb drivers for a variety of devices. Each reader shows up as a separate drive, so you can have more than one type of card inserted at once, as well.

Overall, very speedy for basic computer usage, the 3GB of RAM makes it more than acceptable on Vista, and everything else is nice, too.

Cons: There is bloatware, but it is minimal. For a PC of this price range, it's to be expected. Graphics card is not the best, but this is not meant for gaming or serious media editing by any means, so again, that's to be expected. To be honest, I was impressed that it even had a graphics card at this level.

The processer was a little slow when I was multitasking. It's 2.1 Ghz dual core, but I have a laptop with the Intel T7200 (2.0 Ghz dual core), and this 4050e is noticeably slower. I wouldn't say it's really that bad, though, and only caused the occasional lag when I had 4+ windows open.

It's a small complaint, but I have also noticed several computers these days that have small plastic shields over the optical drives, and this one has one as well. These are fine for appearance and opening the drives, but when you want to close it, you have no choice but to push the tray back in manually until the auto close kicks in. I'm leary of the durability of this and potential wear on the tra

Other Thoughts: If you need a computer for basic tasks, browsing the web, editing documents, listening to music or watching video files, doing email, instant messaging, or running programs like Quicken, this is a great computer. Case seems sturdy (aside from the optical drive tray cover), computer has more than enough power to last for a few years with this kind of usage.

If you need a computer for gaming, media editing, or serving anything, you probably aren't looking at this, but if you are, don't. It's not mean for that, and you will not be happy in the end.

-Easy set-up
-Moved up from a Pentium 4, 1.8GHz, 1GB RAM, H U G E improvement. Was worried about switching to AMD vs. Intel, and Vista from XP, but all the talk about each is nothing to worry about! Vista is better than expected, and AMD comes with many benefits such as easier overclocking, if you wanted to, and lower clock speeds that are equivalent to higher Intel speeds. NVidia.com actually rated my processor speed at 6.1GHz(Equivalency if it were one core) Don't know how they come up with that, but it is amazing.

Cons: Don't let the dedicated NVidia GPU fool you, this thing actually runs better without it! If your looking for a GPU, go somewhere else, average minimum requirement for newer games is NVidia 6600 or higher. Had small problems with drivers as well, making my screen blurry in some areas. After intensive searching for cure, found that uninstalling drivers AND cranking up a 'phase' control on my 26" screen made it better. Also when it's in Standby the blue light on the tower flashes, lighting up the entire room in a slow strobe effect.
The graphics card made this computer lose its egg. Don't let it fool you.
