5 out of 5 eggsA Pleasure to Use

Pros: Fast, quiet, slightly richer sound than previous HP desktop (classical buff). Versatile adjustments on Video card allow perfect match to my older Sharp CCFL flat screen via HDMI.

Cons: Spontaneously wakes from sleep even while disconnected from Internet. Despite following HP's various bundled suggestions about how to approach this minor problem, haven't yet tracked down why. Have done the whole Device Manager 'Power Management' thing line by line, and have even renamed the ehome folder to 'emohe', effectively denying access to Windows Media (I think - at least the Player won't open while so renamed). However, it is truly a minor annoyance, because when using the "Balanced" Power Scheme it returns to sleep after 20 minutes (adjustable).

Other Thoughts: I'm not a gamer, and I'm migrating from my previous HP Vista desktop with just 2 GB SDRAM and integral video. (Don't laugh.) So my awe at this computer's speed may be less telling than others' reported experience! I know Win7 has much to do with it. But I'm pleasantly surprised at how nearly instantly complex web pages with ridiculous amounts of 3rd-party advertising load completely. On previous desktop, using same 10 GB+ down speed, had to wait ten seconds or so before could scroll the page (unless had turned off pics in Preferences).

5 out of 5 eggsBest Buy Ever!

Pros: This computer has so much high-end hardware, I am very surprised it is marked under a thousand dollars! An advance six-core processor when right now, the norm has been a 2-4 core processor. It is also part of the Phenom series which is awesome! For the time this computer came out, it had a Radeon card that was just 5 steps from the top. It also is the 8th edition which means this uses DirectX 11. This video card, along with the Windows 7, allows you to customize your PC in such a way, I am still figuring it out! If you get this Desktop, you will be pleasantly surprised on its power and how much it offers and know you won't need a new one for a while!

Cons: I have not personally looked at it yet, but if it only has 2 slots for RAM, that would be my one complaint.

Other Thoughts: I got this computer on a deal at 700 Dollars. It was the best investment I have made in a desktop in a while. If this series comes out with another updated one next year and if you can get it on a deal, DO IT!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the price!

Pros: Runs everything fine. BF3 on ultra. Looks nice and is absolutely quiet.

Cons: Its really crowded on the inside. I purchased a 750 watt power supply to replace the one inside. It barely fit and I had to place it upside down to squeeze it in. Seems like the housing is crowded and a little small. Also placing the power supply at the top of the housing seems counter intuitive... why not place it on the bottom so it gives it more space to breathe...

Other Thoughts: Over clock it and put in a new power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good computer

Pros: Very powerful- Can run Skyrim on ultra (after I downloaded someone's .ini file) and does non-gaming stuff very fast

Great Value- was $679 ($720 with tax)- very good deal on a computer with these components

Reliable manufacturer- HP is a reliable company (my last HP computer lasted 6+ yrs) and I have read reviews from other gaming computer manufacturers that computers come DOA and have cheap parts and break down but this computer worked flawlessly out of the box and is very good quality

Wireless Connection- I didn't even know desktop computers could have wifi (me=noob lol) so it caught me by surprise when I unplugged this computer from my modem and the internet still worked on the computer

Case looks cool- black with a red light across the middle when on

Cons: Not THAT quiet- tons of reviews for this computer say that it is very quiet but it makes as much noise as my old computer but it is not loud either though it can get kind of loud playing a game.
(When I first got this comp. it kind of had a loud humming vibrating sound but I tightened the screws on the back and I think that fixed it)

Bloatware- comes installed with tons of useless programs (took me a while to figure out what to uninstall)

Other Thoughts: Shipping took 4 days instead of 3 :/
Comes with a thin keyboard with buttons that don't push down very far (not used to this kind of keyboard but I paid for the computer and not the keyboard anyway)

Lags in Saints Row 3 but that is supposed to be a driver problem from AMD and not the hardware (they are supposed to come out with a new driver soon that fixes performance in SR3)

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: This computer is excellent and exceptionally fast. I have very few complaints and I am a technician at Office Max. Shipped quick and newegg got me a new one when I had troubles with the first one.

Cons: The only problem that I have experienced so far, is the graphics driver causes the computer to fail when it updates the normal way. I have found another way to update it so I am okay....

1 out of 5 eggsDVD drive does work or even recognized

Pros: Good price - if the DVD drive actually works!

Cons: DVD drive doesn't work!!!! Tried all ways I know... No results so far. So frustrated. It is not even recognized by the computer. When I googled the problems, I learned that A LOT of people have been having the same issue!

Other Thoughts: I have to return this computer and get my money back. This is a major waste of time. This is my last HP.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect upgrade

Pros: Really good upgrade, especially if you have a 5+ old pc.

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: I've using a pc from late 2002 pretty much only for the internet and burning dvd's a handful of times. I've been wanting to upgrade for a few months and saw this on Black Friday and decided to order it. I have an hdtv and newer monitor, so transferring was easier than I thought(when you start the new one, its automatic). With my old one, the computer would nearly freeze when burning a dvd, but with this one, its like nothing is even happening. As far as gaming, it's not the most powerful graphics card, BUT...I tried Battlefield 3 and it runs great on High video settings(the next, being Ultra, which is the highest, was slightly choppy). I sold my xbox360, since Im playing shooters on this from now on.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast and everything looks great.

Cons: First time i powered on the comp, after about 10 minutes or so i can smell something "burning", im not too sure what it was but it was from the computer.

It doesnt give off that smell anymore after the first day. So im not entirely sure what was burning.

Other Thoughts: I read about the comments about needing a power supply since the video card requires at least 500w and the one that comes with the comp is only 460w.

I never replaced power supplies before, does anyone know if i can use this one?
