great deal!
- Pros: Very fast computer with the new i5 processor. Has alot of fans, and tons of space to upgrade inside the case. The case was alot better than I was expecting!
- Cons: Minor issues, but when I got it, the fan blades on the top fan were scraping the top of the tower making a really loud noise, so I loosened the screws a little so it wasnt so tight and now it works perfectly. I wish the power supply had more connectors for future upgrades, looks like I may have to get a new power supply to add much more equipment. The motherboard is a micro ATX GA-P55M-UD2 Gigabyte motherboard, and only has 3 extra open slots, and two of them are PCI slots. When you upgrade your video card, there is no way you can use the two PCI slots.
- Other Thoughts: Just a thought if your a gamer, I'd defanitly upgrade the graphics card. The 512 video card is decent, but if your a gamer, youd want to upgrade it to at least a 1GB card.
Very Good Deal; Better Than Expected
- Pros: Very good price (build yourself for $50-75 less). Faster than expected. Case is very nice and fans are quiet. Temperatures are very good (not attempted overclocking). System is very upgradeable in the future without having to replace multiple items.
- Cons: Minor items: No OEM SW for optical drive; fan speed controls on front not connected (but not sure if they can be); wished drive had been formatted with 2 partitions (makes it easier to protect data)
- Other Thoughts: Would like more documentation from ibuypower on what was done and a list of all components inside, but this might add cost.
Would recommend to others. Note that I'm not a heavy graphics gamer with a large monitor. If you are then consider another ibuypower system with a better graphics card ($150 or more)
Overall, pleased
- Pros: Case better then I anticipated. All components were setup correctly and the whole build seems solid. The new i5 is a very nice jump from an old amd 4400+. Runs the Adobe suite a hell of a lot faster then my old setup
- Cons: For the PC I received, two things came up, one I do consider a con, the other was just a fluke (read below).
The ram was not stable in this system. This initially bothered me cuz all I had done was boot it up, and was multitasking when the computer would restart. Took out 1 of the 2 sticks, and it was stable. So checked the other stick, it's fine, just doesn't want to run dual memory. Went in and changed the timing to 8-8-8-21 from 9-9-9-24, everything is running smoothly now. I am not overclocking the system. Perfectly happy letting the i5 turbo itself, so I can't explain the initial RAM problem.
- Other Thoughts: The other problem was I thought the PC was DOA. When I first plugged it in, nothing, zilch. No post, no led's, no fans spinning up, just nothing. Tried tech support, almost RMA'd it back to Newegg.
Luckily I tried a different AC power cable, and that was the trick. The one they had sent me was a dud. Oh well
