im looking for a decent gaming pc for my 13 year old son and there is just so many choices, I just wonder if this is a good one and is this considered entry level?

I think this is a pretty good mid-tier PC. I use mine for gaming as well. It depends on what your son is looking to play, but this rig should handle most games put out in the last few years. It may not be able to run them all on the highest settings though.

What I really like is that it is a solid general computer, and the case is large enough that upgrading is a breeze. I upgraded the power supply on mine and it was so much easier than with my last pc (mid form, and I have biggish hands). Pop in a newer graphics card in a year or two and this thing could last for a good long while.

My son wants to buy a game but we don't know if this computer is compatable...can anyone tell me if the game will work on this computer?  The game requirements are:

What is the name of the game?
And the computer meets the requirements, not word by word with everything but it should work fine. Maybe upgrade the video card later on as i'm planning on doing, but for now, I've had no troubles with this PC.

Would you consider this prebuilt, a ticking time bomb?

There are alot of things that concern me about this pc. Its very noises and when it powers down/is off it sounds like there is some sort of high pitched whining. I have already replaced a few parts, just because i had the money and did some research. The first chance i get im going to replace the power supply, it is.. imo, 'just enough' and i think is the part that is whining.. as i have replaced other parts and the high pitched whining still persists..

All of this being said, it has worked quite well for me for the many months that i have had it.. its just very loud/noisy and i feel there wasnt alot of future planning with this prebuilt.

I mostly play Marvel Heroes and Guild Wars 2. Right now my computer is horrible on min settings. Will this at least give me med settings and still run smoothly?

I purchased this computer for my stepson for christmas.  Now without knowing the specs of your current computer and havent looked up the requirements for those 2 games, I can tell you the machine has been playing TF2, Garrys mod, Minecraft, and a few others at max settings.  Im actually impressed at how well it does for the price.   Another bonus is that it comes with just Windows installed.  NO other extra junk software that the popular brands like to do.  Just my 2 cents hope that helps

How do you get the monitor to come on?  Ours keeps saying (NO VIDEO)  Is there a special place we are to plug in??

Make sure you are plugging it into the video card, not the motherboard video. The video card is lower and oriented horizontally (roughly in the middle of the tower. For this computer, the video card port is the lowest port on the back of the PC (except for the A/C).

If you are sure you are plugged into the card, try switching back to the motherboard video, oriented vertically (closer to the top of the case). If it works, you will need to switch the video output in BIOS to PCIe. Search youtube to see how.

If you still don't get video signal, try changing the video input on the monitor from HDMI to DVI, or visa versa.

If none of these work, I would guess there is a defect in your system. Contact IBUYPOWER or Newegg for help.

is this computer upgradable?

Some parts are. However, the motherboard doesn't allow for more than 8gb of ram so in order to upgrade ram you'd need to do motherboard as well. The rest you can pull out and put in what you wish. Been running this setup since '13 and it hasn't failed me yet.

Does software and monitor come with the computer?

Computer comes ready to play, just plug in, set up an account for your computer as you would with any other desktop or laptop you would purchase.
It also comes with Windows 8.1 which I'm not a big fan of, but I'm getting used to it.
Mouse and keyboard are included, although the mouse is a little simple, it just looks cool.
Does not come with monitor or any other software besides what it needs to run.

How well can this play Minecraft on High to Max settings?

Unfortunately, I can't answer this question for you.  I bought it as a gift for my son who plays League of Legends, D&D Online, and various other web games.  I'm not very computer savvy myself.

This might help you though:
I went through my Information Technology Department at work to find a good computer for around the $500.00 price, and this is what they sent me.  They said this computer was superb at this price, so I bought it.  My son is currently using it to play League of Legends and said it works so smooth and he doesn't have any lag at all.

How do i know if this has a Ethernet port to plug my Ethernet cable?

You're right that it is not listed in the specs.  If you look at the rear photo though you can see the Ethernet jack.  I can confirm (although it is not in use at the moment) that this does have an Ethernet adapter.
