4 out of 5 eggsFX6161OC Desktop

Pros: the pro of this desktop is it shames the same socket as the Vishera core. same Ram stats. all the basic features that a new computer can have before upgrading the motherboard.
so this is a perfect upgrade desktop system to start with currently. I just bought this for my gf so she can start learning about pc's

Cons: no monitor included however, only reason I rated it 4 and not 5. the tag that says Monitor: "14 inch monitor" is miss leading.

5 out of 5 eggsStill goin :)

Pros: Plays everything great.
Doesn't overheat
Fan is almost not noticeable
looks awesome
super light weight. its like 10 lbs btw not 21
Easy to set up
starts up super fast

Cons: Within the first few days i had a blue screen but i believe this was due to a driver i had installed.

Other Thoughts: I thought after getting blue screens that i was going to have to return this because i had read all of the bad reviews about this computer but it turns out that this computer is perfectly fine. :) I was super paranoid that i was going to mess it up and have the same issues as everyone else but i all i did was opened it up and made sure everything was securely plugged in (one cord was not plugged in when i opened it) and then proceeded to do everything the "manual" said and it's fine. I actually do not have somewhat high knowledge of this tech but there are two geniuses in my house who helped me.

5 out of 5 eggsIt was everything I wanted

Pros: I bought this because my husband's aging Phenom II machine (which I built) had finally given up the ghost. I didn't feel like building a whole new unit, so I went hunting for good "base" pre-built machines. I had the best of luck too, since this one was on sale at the time and almost $150 cheaper than the typical retail price.

This is a great "beginner" machine. It was very well built and everything except the case, DVD drive, and power supply were from companies I recognized. (Biostar, MSI, Team, Western Digital etc.) They had a sticker over the PSU stating the customer should check and make sure everything was plugged in, so it's clear they realize there have been issues with the system not being properly assembled. (Kinda sketchy to ask the customer to do it though!) Everything was properly plugged in on my machine and the cable management was fantastic. (Felt a little bad messing it up, which I'll explain about in a bit.)

The processor on this baby is fast. REALLY fast. I've never had a computer with 6-cores before and it's been a joy to watch it work. I've always adored AMD because they're so reasonably priced, easy to install and fast for what I needed from them. The only down side to this machine is it uses an AM3+ socket. This socket type is a bit long in the tooth, as the FM2+ socket type is already on the market. That being said, you can still upgrade to the FX-8350 (8-cores). Not sure you'll need to though, as the FX-6100 works great.

The MSI Geforce GT 610 is good enough for a lot of older games (such as Sims 2 & 3, Minecraft, WoW, etc). It can probably handle some of the newer games on lower settings too. But really, this card is more for entertainment focused software than games.

Cons: Needs more USB ports. I don't know what era Biostar (motherboard manufacturer) is living in that they think it's a good idea to include PS2 ports for the motherboard/keyboard instead of USB ports.... There are only 4 USB ports in the back! FOUR! And then Avatar gives you a mouse/keyboard that uses USB so that halves your available ports! Fortunately, my husband has been using the same PS2 keyboard for almost 10 years. I'm basically storing the one that came with this machine. (You can never have too many spare keyboards, right? RIGHT?)

It sounds like a jet engine. I was really surprised when I turned it on and it went VOOOOOOM! I think the main culprit is the the CPU fan but the back fan might also be contributing. The heatsink is dinky and probably what came with the CPU. (AMD has been cutting corners by pairing their CPUs with flimsy heatsinks.) If you're planning on over clocking this CPU *please* invest in a better heatsink. (I don't plan on OC, but the noise annoys me enough that I might get a new one anyway.. lol..)

It crashed (BSOD) when ever it went into sleep mode. It took me a whole day to figure that out. I read somewhere that Windows can have problems waking up large hard drives (1+ TB). I just set it so that the computer never sleeps and I haven't had any issues since.

Other Thoughts: If you want to do some more serious gaming, I recommend getting a better graphics card. In my case, when I was trying to troubleshoot my husband's old computer, I bought a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 650 locally and ended up transferring it into this computer. It's done a fantastic job handling his Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim games, all on high settings with tons of mods.

Of course, if you're getting a faster graphics card you'll NEED a new PSU. The one provided is from a company I've never heard of (LEPA) and is a measly 350W*. It's really not enough for any mid-range and up graphics card. I bought a CoolMaster Elite (v2) 550W to replace it. That's when I saw how beautifully they did cable management in this machine. I had to cut a lot of ties to get the LEPA PSU out, and since I didn't have any ties as a replacement, the computer looked a lot messier as a result by the time I was done.

While 8GB is enough for most tasks, I really wanted to give this machine some extra "zip". There's only 2 RAM slots and the max you can upgrade is 16 GBs with the Biostar motherboard, but at least Avatar only used one slot. I bought a Team Elite Plus 8GB (DDR3 1333) and wouldn't you know it? That's the exact same thing they had in the machine! (Haha, I don't blame'em, it's cheap!) In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same model number too!

The case isn't really anything to write home about. It is specious on the inside though and should fit even large graphics cards, which is nice.

There's a newer version of this machine called the FX77. It has Windows 8 and a stronger GPU. If you're looking for a more "plug 'n play" experience you'll probably want to get that one instead. Keep in mind, though, that it's more expensive and you'll have to deal with Windows 8 (which I can't stand).

*For those interested, the model number for the PSU it's MX F1 N350-SB and the output specs are as follows: +3.3V, +5V, +12V2, -12V, +5Vsb, and 15A, 20A, 14A, 15A, 0.5A, 2.5A.

4 out of 5 eggsAVATAR desktop PC

Pros: Starts up fast
Runs some bigger games
quiet fans (compared to the other computers in the house)
light weight (isn't 21 lbs like it says it is... more like ten idk if thats a shipping scam or whaaaat but yea)
Look pretty sweet
Has room for more hard drives
lots of USB ports
easy to open
doesn't have windows 8 (thank gosh)
cheap for what it is

Cons: blue screened once thus far (suspect: driver problem)
Tiny mouse comes with it (fine for me but maybe not for others)
needs an idiot sticker that says make sure everythings plugged in correctly before you plug it in and start it up.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you open it up and snuggly plug everything in before you plug it in and start it up! I read the reviews and a lot of people seem to have problems with this computer. I believe it is due to NOT doing that.

5 out of 5 eggshappy

Pros: This is my first gaming pc... I knew exactly what to expect from this machine by studying all the specs and reading reviews... it runs Elder Scrolls Online flawlessly on high to ultra settings... The machine booted up very quickly and I played all night...reviews about the fan being loud are people just being picky I guess...The fan noise is not overbearing at all... I see myself with time upgrading the power supply...BUT without thinking about upgrades this PC was money very well spent... shipping was super quick. Overall I'm very happy but will update this review if I need to change my rating due to any failures

Cons: Nothing yet

1 out of 5 eggsgetting errors, freezing and bluescreens

Pros: looks cool?

Cons: blue screens, freezing, errors, low watt power supply?

Other Thoughts: I live in Houston, my mom lives in New York, I sent her this computer for her to do simple things like web browsing, checking email, webcam with kids, etc. She keeps calling me about the computer freezing, or getting these blue screens, I've walked her through a few driver updates and still can get it to work without freezing. Returning this computer. I bought this system because I did not want to build and ship one my self, but some how I still end up with a headache. I have a few blue screen screenshots but it only lets me load one...

2 out of 5 eggsWindows Freezes

Pros: games play on it

Cons: Ever since the day it arrived I had a problem where windows freezes so I re installed it. after a couple a days the problem popped up again and its becoming really annoying. I plan on returning it if I can. also this the 2nd time writing this because this computer froze on me AGAIN!

Other Thoughts: it would be a really good computer if it didn't have this problem.
