5 out of 5 eggsIncredible A\C

Pros: This air conditioner is absolutely awesome. Purchased it to replace a 9,000 BTU air conditioner from Soleus Air which was going on 8 years old.

Compared to my old unit, it's night and day. The space I am cooling is an upstairs bedroom, next to the garage attic. It receives external heat from vehicles in the garage, the sun on the roof above it, and the sun on the roof of the attic next to it.

I can ask for a 68 degree room when it's 80 degrees in there, walk out for an hour, and come back to a cycling compressor in a 68 degree room. The old unit ran 24/7 on a hot day while the temperatures went up anyway.

The air this unit pushes is substantial. I used to run a box fan in this room to keep the cool air distributed, but I don't need to do that anymore. This unit pushes so much air you can feel a breeze everywhere in the room.

The first remote control I've actually used for a portable air conditioner... great functionality.

Cons: Remote has time and date on it. Great, another clock I have to change every daylight savings time... >.>

Other Thoughts: After running it at 68 degrees 6-10 hours a night every day for the past month, our electric bill was lower than any summer month in history, even though this month was the hottest on record since the 20's. (100 degree days regularly).

I am so impressed with this unit, and I had to make sure there was 1 more positive review on it in case anyone is on the fence about buying this.

As far as the humidity leakage issues mentioned by other reviewers, I haven't seen it whatsoever. Even though it's been unusually hot and humid the last month, and I have not seen any issues with humidity leakage.

1 out of 5 eggsSOLEUS AIR LX-140BL DB

Pros: Pros, if any, are of no value if the unit is NOT RECOMMENDED!

Cons: You will find many reviews on Newegg and other sites reporting that this unit leaks water; add mine to the list. When the humidity is low enough the unit works as designed. As humidity rises and the unit’s evaporative technology is unable to keep up with the demand it is designed to store the excess condensate in a drainable reservoir. However, no water is retained in a reservoir but rather it leaks out the bottom of the unit. In my tests the leakage can be as much as 3.5 gallons/day. To verify and measure leakage the unit was placed in large 6-inch tall tray & elevated to a safe operating level with concrete blocks. Drain was full open and gravity feed to a separate container. Found that ABSOLUTELY no water exited from drain, all water leaked from base of unit.

Newegg will not accept return once package has been opened. Shipping to mfg. is very expensive. Save yourself the misery & expense, DON’T BUY THIS UNIT from any vendor.

Other Thoughts: Strange, Newegg has sold the SoleusAir LX-140 for a few years now but at the time of this review (07-06-2012) there are only 6 others Newegg reviews all submitted in 2010. Package arrived with no external visible harm to it or its contents. Have to expect defective parts or design at the manufacturing level. Although I have one other model of SoleusAir AC that has been in use for about 1-year without problems, this review and many others like it should raise a red flag for SoleusAir’s level of quality.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to nice A/C

Coming Soon!

Pros: like i said it works keeps the edge off on warm humid days here Binghamton , Ny

Cons: the unit started leaking and so we took it apart(easy) and found three screws loose in the unit.......well the pump was sitting on top of the plastic clips that are supposed to hold it in along with a screw we put the pump back how it should it have been( one screw down two to go) the water tray had a broken corner which jammed the bucket full float switch one of the screws helped hold some thing else(can't remember) so we have one extra screw left owell

Other Thoughts: we used to live in texas with two central air units but we shure don't miss the heat there

i would recommend this unit to other people

Pros: Portable, very cold, a little loud but manageable if you have a big room or livingroom.

Cons: heavy, first unit arrived broken and non-functional, second unit worked for 2 days and after 2 month we still await for a replacement.

Other Thoughts: Will never buy from Soleus again.

Pros: none

Cons: 1st unit did not cool. Had to pack it up and haul it to FedEx (95lbs) to ship back to manufacturer. They would not pick it up at my house. Received 2nd unit that leaked water everywhere. Had to pack it up and drag it to FedEx for shipping, again. Still waiting for 3rd unit. NewEgg would not take the unit back. It had to go to the original company. NOT Happy at all.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Purchase

Pros: I have been debating on what type of air conditioner to purchase for my master bedroom. The room is 17x14. I read that the portable a/c units rating are lower then window units so i figured get the biggest unit i could afford. I ordered this unit due to the great price from newegg with free shipping. Item showed up within two days like always from newegg. Install was very easy and the unit works great! It cools my room off from 80-85 down to 71 with the unit set at 70. This is in 85 degree weather. The last couple days in CT have been high 90s to 100 and this unit worked great. For a complete a/c sitting inside the bedroom, its not to noisy either. I also read that some people have had an issue with the water collecting in this unit and leaking on the floor. I have been using this unit non stop and have yet needed to drain it. I check it ever few days and no water at all. I would highly recommend this unit and or buy it again.

Cons: Doesnt seem to have an energy saving mode. My large window ac downstairs has an energy mode that shuts the fan off when its not cooling (basically the entire unit shuts down), where this portable unit does not. The blower fan continues to run all the time, only the compressor turns on and off, so this unit is always drawing energy.

As i stated above, i have not had to use the drain, but if i did, its at the very base of the unit and i have no idea how you could drain it into a container. The instructions say to use a low pan.... its more like use a plate, lol. The drain should be located higher or have taller wheels on it to raise the unit IF the drain needed to be used.

Other Thoughts: Great product for the money! I hope to enjoy it for years to come until i can afford a central a/c install. Thanks Newegg for fast shipping and a great price as always.

5 out of 5 eggsNice A/C

Pros: Very good portable air unit removes a lot water from the air double hose is more efficient
VERY GOOD PACKAGING they used TWO (2) Layers of honey comb card board and thick Styrofoam.
doesn't take long to produce cold air

Cons: weighs 80 pounds could be one.... newegg has wrong specs who ever does them can't read the heater is 14,200 btu not 11,000 and its moves up to 265cfm not 177
it only uses 1390 watts to cool not 1610 and for heat 1180

the insulation is kinda of a pain to put on the hoses

Other Thoughts: this is a nice unit but don't expect a whole lot from it (like cooling a 2000sq-ft house)
we are cooling a little over 900sqft (of 4 large open rooms) and it doesn't cool it DOWN but keeps it at the temp you start it at and keeps it there and prevents it from heating up while drying the air

two ups guys had to be on the Ups truck because of the air conditioner all to together it weighs 110 pounds with every thing in the box

don't use auto mode because it leaves the fan for the hoses on choose the mode you want and set a temp and it works fine it shuts off when it cools lower than the set temp

will post vid later

4 out of 5 eggsNice Unit That Provides Comfort All Year

Pros: Easy to set up, Energy Efficient, great for all seasons as it both heats and cools. Hose Insulation Wraps Included.

Cons: Does not turn off blower fan once cooling temperature is reached. There is a vibration noise from my unit once it has run in cooling mode for 10-15 minutes. The on/off timer is only 24 hours. A Daily / Weekly timer would have been a better feature.

Other Thoughts: So far so good. Was able to put a small block under the unit in the front to get rid of the vibration noise mentioned in my Con's portion. Time will tell but enjoying the comfort so far.
